It’s been a long time since I put together a running session. This one is an all Irish affair recorded during the storms of late February hence very little ambient sound of the trains running on the tracks.
Featured in the video are NIR 101 Hunslet ‘Eagle’ on a short branch run, NIR Class 111 ‘111’ on an intercity service, IE Class 071 ‘085’ also on an intercity service, CIE Class 121 ‘B125’ on a gypsum wagon run and finally CIE A Class A23R on a Guinness kegs run.

Hello Paul, I thoroughly enjoyed that. Your collection of Irish rolling stock is unique within my modelling community, I don't know of any other modeler with Irish trains. It is beautiful to see running on the Galgorm Hall layout. Somehow I now fancy a pint of Guinness. Regards, David.

@@trainsontuesday as much as I love the BR stuff I felt it was time to pick a side and stick with it if for no other reason than to enable me to budget for future models coming out. I’ll still maybe pick up the odd British loco if it takes my fancy but on the whole it’ll be solely Irish from here on in. Paul

Paul I really enjoyed seeing more of your layout and to be honest I did not even know you had such a layout, I thought you focused on structures only. Your scenery is so realistic of the Irish countryside I remember as a kid. Please share more as you continue your scenery progress. One question, on NI coaches how did you mount the Kadee couplings, I have these 4 coaches but with the big ugly D tension lock couplings and plastic wheels. Great work as always.
@GalgormHall
@GalgormHall 2 года назад
Hi Eamonn, praise indeed and many thanks for it. I’m really glad the scenery hints at its Irish roots, I must be doing something right. With regards the coaches I did a video on the conversion of these in which I also covered the removal of the D couplings and replacing with Kadees. Scroll back through and you should find it ok but if not I’ll send you a link. Paul

Lovely running session Paul, Nice to see something different running too. Out of interest how do you go about painting your tracks? Do you just blast it all with an airbrush or do it more by hand? Im looking for an easier way is all lol
@GalgormHall
@GalgormHall 2 года назад
Hi Michael nice to hear from you. I went down the laborious route so definitely not the easiest, of painting the track by hand, cinnamon brown I think was the colour. I’ll do all the ballast weathering once ballasting is completed everywhere.
