9:05 After star resolves, there is 20 damage marked on Kaalia. When the angel protecting her dies, she looses indestructible, but still has that damage on her. Kaalia should have also died to the star.

Thanks for pointing me out. I didn't know about that. I thought that the damage was kind of prevented when the creature is indestructible ... but no one else at the table figured it out neither.

I would love to have seen a stronger play on the turn where two Kaliaas attacked. Both triggers go on the stack at the same time and the first creature put into play was Rune-Scarred Demon. The demon trigger would resolve before the second Kaliaa trigger so he could have gotten something powerful to put into play for the second Kaliaa trigger. I think there were blockers for a Master or Cruelties, but there had to be something a lot better than a Harvester of Souls.

In the last turn of the game, that Maze of Ith activation should have prevented all the combat damage dealt by the creature it targeted, until the end of turn. This means it would not deal any damage on any extra combat steps. Not sure if it would change the outcome of the game, but just a heads up.

8:59 Actually, due to wording, Kaalia also dies since the source bestowing it indestructible left, and it still had 20 damage dealt to it. I understand how it was missed though, with all the time travel going on.

Skylar's deck may have been less shy if they didn't keep a 2 lander with no mana rocks or ramp, no draw and an 8 CMC, 7 CMC & Two 6 CMC cards. We're they doing a hardmode challenge the rest of the table forgot about?

Hey Muddstah...long time fan. One question: what do you use for lighting? My friends and I made a channel (Wizards of the East Coast) but I'm not happy with the lighting of our games. I tried an LED shop light with pantyhose over it to diffuse (reduce shadow and glare) but it was ineffective. Any recommendations? Or if any fans know what Muddstah uses for lighting?

hey, quick question at 8:50, when Tom casts star of extinction it kills aggies angle so wouldn't Kalia loose indestructible and die because the damage would stick around from star of extinction until he passes turn?

Always good to see Kaalia. I rly don't now how to build her tbh. I guess just putting in the top 10 dragons,demons and angels i suppose? XD There is SO MUCH stuff to choose from! I already got a mono black demon deck, Selesnya angel deck (karametra at the helm) mono red dragon deck with Lathiliss and the Ur-dragon 5c upgraded precon.

So, you find the best ramp and card drawing mechanics you can afford for the deck, then dump a bunch of the most savage demons and angels and dragons in there, don't worry about balancing it though. world gorger combo and extra attacks are all good as well. aside from the fat bombs, make sure the CMC avg is low, oh and run Bola's citadel, it's so busted.

You want the creatues with the best ETBs and static abilities, as well as the ones that give you extra combat steps, so you can get more Kaalia triggers.

I was about to say, How does commander exist in 2008? Then the comment section happened and apparently Future Sight was Future Literal. Also ruling question, even though this is a game filmed two years ago, shouldn't Kaalia be dead after Aegis Angel dies? Star of Extinction should still have 20 damage on Kaalia, regardless of Indestructibility, and then it loses Indestructibility, so it should die if that's the case.

Doesn’t Kaalia die? She has indestructible until the angel leaves but when the angel leaves Kaalia still has 20 damage marked on her and dies due to loosing indestructible? Right?

Maze of Ith would of made it so even though Iroas attacked the second combat he would still deal no damage and there would of been another turn for Skylar taking 30 damage ten from each other creature. Although without a wipe it would of been moot.

Actually, Kaalia should've been destroyed by Star of Extinction. The Aegis Angel is gone and she still has 20 damage on her. It's hard to say how much of a difference this would've made in the game, but still...

Star of Extinction would have killed the original Kalia. It would have the damage marked on it, and then the Aegis Angel dies, and it loses indestructible and dies.

He had Aurelia in hand and casted it while knowing there was a counterspell? Why not wait for kaalia trigger and roll over the game?

Casting into the counterspell was debatable, but having her enter off the Kaliaa trigger wouldn’t give him the extra combat. Because she enters attacking she would never be declared as an attacker, which is what is required for her trigger.

Attack triggers only happen when the creature is declared as an attacker, so Aurelia needed to be on the battlefield before the combat phase to get her trigger. As for why he cast Aurelia into the counterspell, he had Animate Dead in his hand, so he probably wanted that counterspell to go to waste and reanimate her later.

And, like Rattata, Kaalia may also pack an instant kill moveset: Rattata has the FEAR set (LV1 + Focus Sash + Endeavor + Quick Attack), Kaalia has Master of Cruelties.

@@eliakimrodrigues Blue/Green decks are mostly the same so I don't mind seeing them because literally every simic deck is just Value. Kaalia decks however (since the commander is so busted) is literally a plague and every new player in my region starts with a Kaalia and usually hits people with Master of Cruelties or some other bs ability to basically destroy everyone. I'm not saying it can be competitive but it's just annoying because there's so many Kaalia players.
