You should've cast Aetherize in response to Marchesa's dethrone triggers, which would've forced Max to either let the creatures be bounced or sac them without getting them back.

At the end with Aetherize, couldn't you have put it on stack of the Marchesa attack trigger so that no counters would be put on, and nothing would return

At 14:21, you could have countered the original spell causing the dualcaster mage to fizzle, leaving only one copy to deal with rather than 2

I too run a very similar horde of notions deck and risen reef also gets hated on in my play group..though that mostly has to do with this one time with risen reef, ancient greenwarden and zendikar's roil

11:25 Nick shouldn't have been able to draw 1 additionnal card from copying the mystic confluence, since after the first resolves, the one still on the stack fizzles for lack of target spell to counter. Nice game anyways !

I was always under the impression that a spell that had multiple targets / modes would try and resolve whatever modes were still legal, even if some of them had been made illegal over the course of the spell resolving.

From the rules for mystic confluence If all targets for the chosen modes become illegal before the Confluence resolves, the spell won’t resolve and none of its effects will happen. If at least one target is still legal, the spell will resolve but will have no effect on any illegal targets.

@@MTGMuddstah yeah, most of the time it works as you say, because the modal spell has multiple targets, but here there's only really one target. 608.2b [...] If all its targets, for every instance of the word “target,” are now illegal, the spell or ability doesn’t resolve. @@MTGMuddstah The spell/ability will still try to do as much as it can as long as it has at least one legal target. In this case, the lone target was the spell that was countered, so Mystic Confluence should've fizzled. The "draw a card" effect doesn't target.

It might just be a narration error. If Nick chose mana leak once and draw twice, he would have drawn 2 off the copy, then not drawn from the original since Martin couldn't pay for both and therefore wouldn't pay for the copy.

Frank question sorry: why play the stomping grounds t1 and prairie stream tapped t2 when you could have had stomping grounds come into play untapped t2 and played your ramp (farseek or nature's lore) on curve? The sequencing of lands is just real puzzling to me

I’ve had a look through the comments and not seen it said yet 😅 but horde doesn’t bring the elementals back to the battlefield but let’s you cast them for free, so unless you had flash that I’m missing you couldn’t of brought back the harbinger on the end step 😅😅 Good games though, feel like horde has been power crept by the latest omnaths recently 😩

The ability is actually a weird one. You cast the spell as part of the ability resolving, which is different from say Flashback. A quick Google assured us that we played it correctly.

I despise Kaza to be honest. Every variant I’ve ever played against is an extra turns build (can’t blame them because it’s powerful). It usually winds up as a game of solitaire as early as turn 4 because they can easily get a cheap extra turn off or in some cases even time stretch

Scrolled through a page of comments and didn't see this - PLEASE say Marchesa correctly. Super petty and awful because I am a huge Marchesa fan, but I couldn't stomach listening to you calling her Markaysa any longer. Give the queen her respect and say her name as it's spelled in the future, PLEASE. Mar-chay-suh. IDK if english is your second language, but if not, OOF.
