Braava Jet m6 owner here, yeah no "future updates" have not stopped it from beaching its self on the carpet, the premise of this robot is great but its so frustrating to use... 1, it beaches its self on the carpet ALL the time! 2, it cant go over those tile/wood floor separators if they are too high (mine are like .5cm bumps) so shower... toilet... dont get mopped 3, you can ONLY use their cleaning solution in it or you void the warranty 4, sometimes the cleaning solution becomes foamy and it just dribbles in front of its self instead of spraying... 5, the wheels are non-user serviceable i.e. my dog hair is clogging them up now and there's not much you can do 6, the pads get stinky if you dont replace them immediately and it drags the stink around the house 7, refilling the water tank it often dribbles and leaks as you walk it back to the robot 8, sweeping mode is useless... get a robot vacuum for that. 9, it bumps into things endlessly... no liadar mapping especially if you have kids or dogs moving toys around all day and the list goes on.. and on.. and on.. there is so much I dislike about this robot... but at the same time when its working and when its having a good day (4/5 days of the week that is) it does a generally decent job, not nearly as good as a human with a mop but its certainly extends the time between needing a human mop.

Great video! Thanks for sharing! There's been a lot of reviews of the M6 commenting on it leaving tire tracks on the floor that are visible when the floor is dry. Can you comment on your experience with this?

Sheridan hello, the m6 does leave tire marks if the spray set to medium to high. On low not as noticeable and if you have it set to deep clean it will cover its tire marks by going over the spot multiple times 😀. All this can be controlled through the App, hope this helps 👍🏻.

Mm I ended up returning mine because it was leaving puddles of water on the floor during and after cleaning. I purchased the iRobot M6 which does a great job too.

Mm yeah, it’s almost like there’s a clog in the system not letting water to the entire brush. Contact them, they are extremely responsive.

Thanks for the video. Answers some questions on both systems. Wished you covered docking stations a little bit. Can't figure if you carry the w400 around with you or it docks and starts working at predetermined time, if your not home standing in front of it with the controls in your hand?

The w400 has to be physically placed on the docking station, where as the m6 can charge and dock automatically. Also the w400 doesn’t have any smart navigation like being able to tell it to mop a specific room or area. There no scheduling capability or WiFi either on the w400. To control the w400 on either the hand held remote or on the robot it self.

Stephen Hello, thank you, I am glad I finally get to meet a scooba owner, so are you still using a scooba today? I have the w400 and it looks to me to have the similar mopping mechanics, spinning brush roll, separate fresh water and dirty water tanks and a vacuum to mop it all up. I agree, I wonder why iRobot went with a different design🤔. Thanks again for your input 👍

Stephen Ziegler Yes I agree, I found I have to replace the mopping pad mid cleaning cycle because the pad would get dirty and start smearing the dirt around 😩. Interesting 4 stage cleaning process, thanks for explaining that to me 👍🏻. I was thinking about getting a scooba to review and compare it to the w400. Haven’t found a good working one yet. There a new robot called the Narwhal Robotics which uses spinning mopping pads,. The robot applies water with cleaning solution on them, runs for a bit and returns to its charging base to automatically clean the mopping pads and apply additional cleaning solution. I wonder if this method any better🤔. Sounds like a traditional mopping method.

That's odd, I thought I remembered from somewhere that the Braava series was supposed to detect and stay off carpets somehow (the cliff sensors)? On another note, it occurred to me that now that the m6 has the little IR guidance nub on top to find its charger, it could potentially see Virtual Walls (though I don't know if its software supports it).

Yes it supports the lighthouse virtual walls, also you can set the smart area lines away from the carpet so it doesn't go near them.

Both are daily maintenance mopping robots. The m6 does a little better getting tougher stains than the iLife w400

I think because the m6 doesn’t have a floor type lens it can’t tell the type of floor. It relies on the bumper. Also, the iLife its a little bit of a hassle to clean every time. Great video!

Appreciated that you posted this interesting video of the two robot floor cleaner and the follow ups. It was mentioned in the video that both robots can use a mild robot cleaner solution. Have you tried any cleaner solution? I just recently purchased the W400 and it states “Do not use neutral detergent” but trying to figure out if we can use tap water and very dilute amount of Lysol Clean & Fresh containing akyl groups without potentially damaging the robot. This helps to better scrub the dirt and leave the floor fresh. We have not tested this until we have some mfg feedbacks and from other sources. Would like to know your thoughts on it. Thank you

HoangST N Thanks for the good question, let me clarify in the manual of the w400, don't use any cleaning solution which they are trying to refer to harsh cleaning solutions. I always recommend to use an approved cleaning solution for robot mops, aka irobot Braava Jet uses the iRobot cleaning solution which I use in the w400 as well. Works fine, because the iLife w400 has similar components, sprayer, hoses and a mopping pad. The big concern is using too harsh / strong of a cleaner like Clorox and Tides floor cleaning solution. Some of the chemicals in there will eventually erode the rubber hoses and damage the spray pump. Also I don't recomend spraying down a harsh floor cleaner because eventhough it doesn't go through the pump, it can still erode the rubber wheels. Look for a mild cleaning solution to spray down to help break down the grime. So basically use the iRobot Cleaning solution which is designed for mopping robots. Unfortunately there not too many mopping robots out there so the cleaning solution is limited.

One issue, is that the bravaa wont go over floor molding. So basically, it’ll only clean half my house since half is stone and half is hardwood flooring divided by a floor mold. Another issue I’ve had, it’ll just spin and spin in a corner. Then it’ll stop and say it’s stuck. If I just hit resume in the app without doing anything, it’ll start up again. Not sure why it’s buggy.

Hello Steven Han, yes I have seen this issue with the s9 and I ran the robot 3 times in the problem spot 3 times in a row and it seem to correct the issue and never has happen again. The m6 and s9 have the same navigation system minus a 3D forward facing sensor in the s9. Also if it still seems to get lost in the Conner you can delete the map/floor plans and try the training runs over again. I know it is a pain but once it setup and working probably you will never have to do it again 🤣. Yeah unfortunately the robot can’t transition over carpet or big crevices or humps. You can map both side of the house, which the robot will separate as two different maps. Than you have to manually carry the robot over. Not ideal but at least it can mop both areas. I"m on my 2nd iRobot Scooba. The 1st gen was great, till it just died. 2nd gen doesn't do a good job as the 1st gen did. But, if you don't clean these WELL before putting away, they will give you issues down the road to being non-functional.

I just bought a new M6 and I'm not happy with the streaking mess it leaves behind... It leaves dirty streaks on the floor and tire tracks as well. Imagine the floor being dirty and taking a wet cloths and just wiping it on the dirty floor and not wiping until all of the smudges were gone. That is what my floor looks like when the M6 is done. I also have the 300 series mop and it doesn't do this as badly. I'm going to try to work with the M6 to figure out if it will mop better, but as for now I'm not happy with my $500 purchase

Sorry to hear about that, a lot RU-vidr have had same streaking issue including my self. You can try using Distilled water which helps a lot, also iRobot is in the Process of providing a software update that reduces the number of times the tires go over the clean area, reducing the tire marks. Hopefully they have a fix, because a $500 robot should be better.

Hello! Can you tell me the difference between the Ilife W400, the Amibot swip as70 sell in France and the Medion MD18379 in Deutchland, please? I have noticed that it's the same machine, but the Amibot is older. The both, W400 and the Amibot have good reviews but not the Medion, why? if you can help me, please! I decide to buy one of them!

If possible I would go with the original maker iLife. The original model of this unit is the iLife w400, both are copies the Medion MD 18379 and Amibot swip as70. They could just be rebranded with different names, since the have the exact same specs and features as the iLife w400. The reason to go with iLife w400 is it a reputable company, and have experience making robots. Could use the same components or use cheaper ones, wouldn’t know on the copies.

Robot master I have a question about the M6 pads have cleaner on them cause on the 240 the cleaning is dryed into the pad or something but its there but on the M6 it looks like its just a normal pad but idk so dose it have cleaner already on the pad or is it just cloth cause the only reason I haven't got the formula is that it was in the pads so do you know about this?

Funtime Freddy No the m6 mopping pads doesn’t have the cleaner or scent already applied to them like the Braava m6. It’s kinda of a bummer because I liked the 240 with the pre applied scented and cleaner plus the head vibrates 👍🏻

could you make a video in which the S9 and then the Braava M6 run in a row? Even if the W400 is a bit cheaper I would like to stay with iRobot (because of the app alone). You can not start the W400 remotely without an app

TheTiranon Are you talking about the imprint link 🤔, this it where the Roomba s9 tells the Braava m6 to Mop after the s9 done Vacuuming. No the w400 doesn’t have a App, scheduling, or self charging. It more like the Braava Jet 380t where you have to manually charge it and physically place it in the area you would like to clean.

@@RobotMasters just a complete passage from S9 and then Braava M6. The room can be a bit dusty ;-) And yes, the W400 can not start from the road. For me a big disadvantage since that is actually the meaning of the robot. Autonomously to suck or wipe the apartment

Should one really have hard stains on their floor? If something spills on to the floor, you wipe it up straight away. Seems like a poor metric to measure by.

The M6 is a fail, it cannot clean your floors because it gets stuck on the carpet. If there is not way to fix that the unit is useless

I used a glue gun when my tire tread wore off. I did little squiggly lines with it and it's still working great (a year later).

Yes the dedicated mopping pattern did a better job with tougher stains.

Kriswin Studio Not in this video, sometimes depending on the size of the area the m6 can spend an hour or so mopping. In one of my m6 video I showed time stamps of how long the robot took vs a non dedicated mopping robot.

@@RobotMasters yeah, I saw the comparison with a roborock. I just wanted to say that you should've told us more about it's cleaning abilities, rather than duration of the cleaning itself. Liked the video, just wanted to point that out.

The only thing that tears me away from w400 is that it's not "smart" enough. I would love a mop that could go back to it's station once it's done like the braava can

Hybrid mopping Vacuum and Mopping are an option. The Hobot Leege is a mopping robot with dual vibrating mopping pads that have self recharging capabilities. amzn.to/2ZvIvOt Lastly the w450 is getting an upgrade in navigation.

Robot Masters I’ll continue to mop my floor the good old fashion way, I like the w400 vacuum the floor but not connection with phone make me perplex. The M6 is a deception it’s a floor smearer that goes on the carpet and they don’t provide reusable pads in the kit witch for me make it a no no from the start. You want me buy a robot mop gimme some reusable pads in the kit then later on I’ll buy some new ones. They just want to suck out money from the consumer wallet.

Yeah the m6 been popular, I was having trouble finding the Braava Jet 240. It depends what type of mopping and flooring you have. They are both good maintenance tool, the iLife w400 can pick up spills better since it has a separate dirty water tank, also the m6 better at removing stains. Has a unique back and forth mopping pattern. The iLife w400 does better at avoiding carpets. Hopefully this helps Thanks

Ohhh are you looking at getting the Braava 380t? I haven’t had a chance to review that model, slight difference in mopping technique and navigation method. PS the video is showing the Braava m6 vs iLife w400, had to preorder the m6 since it was a new robot and hard to find in stores, like the Braava 240
