I won irobot create 2 on instructables.com. It is very good robotic platform but I prefer building my own robots than using someones work. So I decided to make a wroking Irobot roomba from my create 2. I ordered brushes there:
goo.gl/tyX45g
And to hold them in place I print out on the creality CR10 3D printer this part that I designed in fusion360.
Here is link to thingiverse, you can download there STL file:

This is awesome! I bought a roomba create 2 a couple of years ago and used it for a bunch of DIY. Now I wanted to use it for vacuuming and thanks to this video I can use it for that too! Excellent job. Will post here once I get this on my roomba.

I want a Roomba that empties its own bin and swaps out ultracapacitors on the fly so it can keep going. It should have a trash can sized recharging station and suck out the contents from the top of its bin while it swaps out ultracapacitors or they might charge fast enough for it to just keep going after emptying the bin.

Did this end up being cost effective compared to just buying the vacuum version if so by how much?

I don't know. I did it because I won it in a contest

Hi, can i ask if all that is required to get a Create2 to hoover would be a brush assembly from a 650? I dont have access to a 3D printer. I want a programmable but working hoover. Thanks

I can confirm: I ordered the brush assembly from amazon, downloaded the .STL file for the clip, and ordered it to be printed in ABS from Treatstock www.treatstock.com/my/print-model3d? - now I'm having fun watching the Create 2 vacuum (raspberry pi zero w onboard + the USB cable)

@@pepownall So the Create 2, as sold, does already create vacuum suction on its own, it just lacks the brushes?
@pepownall
@pepownall 3 года назад
@@jcanizales That is correct - the vacuum does work. It lacks the brushes, and a clip which holds the brushes in place - which can easily be 3D-printed, or you can make one from a bit of tin. I've been happily using my Create2 to vacuum regularly, as well as developing an arduino interface so that I can drive it around myself.

@@pepownall Thank you! Some websites said it was a roomba with the vacuuming parts removed. But I was looking to buy a robot vacuum I can program myself. So with your info and the links in this video my mind is now set, I'll get myself one 🙂
