Halloween parties, piggy banks, planning childhood adventures on a map and counting cars passing by - all these little pedestrian moments that seem to mean nothing, but ultimately make up a life. What a weird, amazing dance we’re all part of. I’m 21 years old and am regularly brought to incredulous smiling laughter at the prospect of seeing where it all goes. Peace and love.

Beautifully articulated thoughts. You so perfectly stated it when you said, "all these little pedestrian moments that seem to mean nothing, but ultimately make up a life." It is the absolute truth!! Keep that curiosity, the smile and the laughter as they will get you through life, regardless of the speed bumps you will encounter in the road, even when they will sometimes feel like mountains. Just one old ladies advise. It certainly has helped me. Have a wonderful life!

@methane Collins ☆ It's been about a month now since I replied, too your heartfelt comment. I'm not sure if you've, made the effort I had asked of you. If you ask for his or here's presence, set something that their going to recognize. Something that brings strong memories of the two of you. (I used 1~Red Rose and 2~Wine Glasses) I opened the Wine and had a glass. Then went off to bed, prior to leaving the State Rm. I marked where the remaining Wine was in the bottle. I did this starting on a Friday, come Monday morning the bottle had been turned. As for the second Wine Glass, it had a small amount of Wine in the bottom of the glass. Very strange but it had happened. The Spirit after death is very powerful, you must first be open to this all. Most importantly have accepted Jesus Christ, as your Lord and saviour. I'll pray for you each evening. Perhaps it will be one of these early mornings, within the near future. Godspeed to you. Take Care and Be Well My Dear Friend: 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ®️.

Interesting to read how people have favourite parts of the lyrics. My heart always jumps in my chest when I hear: "Please, remember me Seldomly In the car behind the carnival My hand between your knees You turn from me And said 'The trapeze act was wonderful But never meant to last'" Especially "never meant to last" ... to me, it says something about learning to let go *especially* of the things we love and that we cling to. The Trapeze Swinger Iron & Wine Please, remember me Happily By the rosebush laughing With bruises on my chin The time when We counted every black car passing Your house beneath the hill And up until Someone caught us in the kitchen With maps, a mountain range, A piggy bank A vision too removed to mention But Please, remember me Fondly I heard from someone you're still pretty And then They went on to say That the pearly gates Had some eloquent graffiti Like 'We'll meet again' And 'Fuck the man' And 'Tell my mother not to worry' And angels with their gray Handshakes Were always done in such a hurry And Please, remember me At Halloween Making fools of all the neighbors Our faces painted white By midnight We'd forgotten one another And when the morning came I was ashamed Only now it seems so silly That season left the world And then returned And now you're lit up by the city So Please, remember me Mistakenly In the window of the tallest tower call Then pass us by But much too high To see the empty road at happy hour Leave and resonate Just like the gates Around the holy kingdom With words like 'Lost and Found' and 'Don't Look Down' And 'Someone Save Temptation' And Please, remember me As in the dream We had as rug-burned babies Among the fallen trees And fast asleep Aside the lions and the ladies That called you what you like And even might Give a gift for your behavior A fleeting chance to see A trapeze Swing as high as any savior But Please, remember me My misery And how it lost me all I wanted Those dogs that love the rain And chasing trains The colored birds above there running In circles round the well And where it spells On the wall behind St. Peter's So bright with cinder gray And spray paint 'Who the hell can see forever?' And Please, remember me Seldomly In the car behind the carnival My hand between your knees You turn from me And said 'The trapeze act was wonderful But never meant to last' The clown that passed Saw me just come up with anger When it filled with circus dogs The parking lot Had an element of danger So Please, remember me Finally And all my uphill clawing My dear But if I make The pearly gates Do my best to make a drawing Of G-d and Lucifer A boy and girl An angel kissing on a sinner A monkey and a man A marching band All around the frightened trapeze swingers

I saw him play this song at a chapel at Hope college, close to ten years ago. There was a blizzard that night and it was extremely cold. We stood outside the chapel for over an hour before they let us in. We got to sit in the front pew, and put our wet socks and frozen feet next to the radiator. When he sang "They went on to say that the pearly gates had some eloquent graffiti, like 'We'll meet again' and 'Fuck the man..." everyone cheered.

Coming back to Phoenix in oct! Love me some iron and wine. My wife and i got to meet Sam the morning after a show in Tucson and i had a total fan boy meltdown he shook my hand and was all "hi I'm sam" all i could come up with was "no shit" lol! Worlds nicest guy, i collected myself and he hung out and chatted for a few. One of those moments you'll remember for the rest of your life, iron and wine means quite a bit to me like a lot of people who have struggled and had music carry them through.

More obscure of a reference, but the movie "In Good Company" made me fall in love with this song and Iron & Wine. I had just started college and I can still recall how that felt and the relevant scenes in this movie...all related to finding yourself / way in life. So much nostalgia...

Lenora Higginbotham, I fell in love with Iron and Wine in college as well, but circa 2004. When I first heard this song, it was like he was playing my heartstrings instead of guitar strings. Seeing it featured at the end of IN GOOD COMPANY still gives me goosebumps.

This doesn't make me cry, it kinda goes on too long and his lyrics typically suck like these. But his guitar rhythm and melody is spot on that's why I like him. He's got that old timey taste and feel which I respect. And I can't finger pick for the life of me so he's got that going for him.
