@@ptl770 Was just bout to say that, would be interesting, have him show what he could make with what anyone else on a budget could try, that he likes, and one if you wanna get a better sandwhich that you make with stuff from a store/market.
@@japinabox2844 well, his son has said "this is the most popular item" so it's kind of rating their marquee items. What is the marquee item of krispy kreme? do they have other products? is the baconator not the marquee item of Wendys? is fried chicken not the marquee item of KFC? didn't the popeye's sandwich in the headlines a couple years ago for it's crazy demand, and people fightng and worse over it at subway he got a sub that he chose whatever he wanted on it he got a burger from mcdonalds and a crunch wrap supreme or something from taco bell but I will admit to give a better rating of taco bell, maybe there are items with more meat, or he could order double or triple meat so he'd be happier with the meat quantity like the price of his sub was super expensive, because he had more than one meat option
It makes sense. He's rating it based on the spice, flavour, and general quality of the food. He spat it out because of grease for health reasons (which is separate from spice and flavour).
I love how he just orders what appeals to him in the moment because he has the freedom to choose. He has no concept of what is commonly acceptable on a subway sandwich he just put it together how he wanted it. Love it❤ please do more.
I have a hard time trusting his taste after that, and rating Chick Fil A and Wendy's higher... unless that was a bad location. I've heard from chefs, and even Anthony Bourdain I think, that when they get fast food, they go for Popeyes. Maybe it was just the unhealthy aspect. I don't know. He also rated Subway higher. Sure, he made a good combination, but that bread is terrible, and he had it as S tier.
@GodInHisPrime It's making me question the validity of that title. With something as subjective as food taste, I already don't take it as seriously as being an expert in a field like medicine. Experts can also have bad takes or make mistakes. Gordon Ramsay made a terrible grilled cheese using cheese that doesn't melt well, and he burnt the bread.
You guys are genuinely so pleasant to watch. The friendly father-son relationship you guys have is so beautiful and more fathers should emulate this with their own sons and daughters.
Jesus Christ is the only way to be fulfilled. I'm writing this as I just had an encounter with Jesus the Almighty God. I was being tempted by demonic forces. I fell into temptation, and I ran away from the Lord. This hasn't been the first time. I have been on a on and off cycle which seemed to be an endless. But today, I feel called to share this testimony. I watched a video which really opened my eyes while I was still "hiding" from God. It touched my soul to the point that I fell on my knees right away, and begged for forgiveness and guidance. This was beyond anyother feeling I've felt while repenting. This one felt true. I had been like mad at God for being dumped by my this girl I was talking to. So this was a way to be tempted by evil demonic forces. I would get intrusive thoughts, and I kept trying to solve this feeling of being dumped on worldly things. And let me tell you, it only makes it worse. If you're someone who is not sure if you're saved, or if you are saved, but have been going through these on and off cycles such as porn, or secular music(which are other cycles I've been having a difficult time with) I want you to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth, and the life. If you don't know what to do, I want you to get on your knees, and pray this prayer with your heart: Jesus, I believe you died on the cross for my sins, and was ressurected on the third day. I believe you came to the Earth, to pay for our sins. Thank you for dieing on the cross for my sins, in Your Name, I pray, amen. I don't know who is reading this, but if you ever fill an empty whole, which cannot be fulfilled, the only way to fulfill is by Jesus. When you turn your back on Jesus, you seek everything other then him. All worldly things, will never fill that hole. God Bless Yall! ❤
Its more fun when you have a regular who orders something like that. Used to work at a pizza place back in high school and still remember the person who every single Thursday would order a canadian bacon and tomato pizza. After long enough would just be a ten second interaction because you know what the absurd order is about to be.
@@greg3752 How does that sound regular? who orders canadian bacon on pizza? Or TOMATO for that matter? Not Tomato sauce. They mean literal slices of fresh tomato.
My dad got a severe stroke a year ago and is left severely handicapped unable to speak or move. It's been a pretty devastating loss to me and my family and since it happened I've been going in and out of depression. I can no longer ask him about life advice, how to fix stuff in my home, or how to cook stuff. Every day I wake up to a strange reality I'm not quite used to yet, and to be honest I don't think I ever will get used to it. We used to drive around and try new different places every now and then, and burgers especially was (is?) a shared favorite dish of ours. He'd cook them ever since I was around six years old and throughout my life I've been experimenting and constantly trying to improve my own burgers. It's hard to explain it, but watching you two kind of emulates the feeling I used to have when spending time with my dad. Your videos sort of works as healing for my soul. That's what it feels like, at least. Thank you.
I'm sorry that your dad and you are in that situation. I hope that he will recover, and that you'll have the strength to continue to live with perseverance & find joy in life.
Hey man I’m sorry to hear that. That’s really tough and heartbreaking. Could I just offer you a father that is perfect father? The Lord our God is the perfect father and through Jesus we have access to his undying love. While he will never be like your earthly father, or even my father, he is a perfect father to whom we can bring everything. God bless you, I hope you’re doing okay.
Thanks Jet for recognizing your Dad's talent and putting him on for all of us to see. We know it is all you behind the scenes. These videos always warm my soul. Thank you!
I say get him all the ingredients that Subway has and have him put together a few sandwich ideas and make us a list of what to order when we go so we can all try his ideas for a good sandwich.
This is such a great channel. Been watching Susur on tv for long time. Spitting out popeyes and trying it again was funny as hell. Pure gold, your a lucky to have such a great father.
yea, it's weird he kept speaking so highly of Popeyes over and over about a sandwich he spat out seconds earlier and emphasizes its better than McDonalds and Taco Bell (but he didn't spit those out)
I think man’s sensitive to fry oil. All those years of refining his palate caused an aversion to it. Like sandwich still tastes good, but likely this particular Popeyes left it in the fryer for too long.
@@howiewang9034 Popeyes always got a thick crust to it. Thats just means more oil is absorbed. I can see how someone who doesn't eat all that processed oil can't palate it.
I just love how "real" these videos are ❤ I mean.. No pretentious.. U can really see how genuine of a person IronChefDad is and his son even growing up having a famous dad so humble and respectful to his dad.. U can really see the bonding so beautiful ❤😢
The edits have me crying haha love your guys' relationships. He answers your questions with such concentration 🤣like he doesn't want to fail you. B FINAL ANSWER.
susur was so on point when he was talking about the freedom to feed yourself intuitively! listening to your body tell you what you need to eat and filtering that through what you know your options are is an important step in maintaining good nutrition. especially for people with less money, who are classically the primary targets of fast food advertisement. love the thoughtfulness of him
I swear he has the coolest dad on the planet. Funny sense of humor with his dad jokes, down to earth, and his profession makes it shine really well since food is so universal
he did turkey, veggie patty, mozarella, than based on the way the cheese looked - it was lightly toasted, then add spinach, black olives, and light pesto. still not sure about the bread
It's crazy that Chef Lee can memorize and sling old French, Italian, Mexican cooking terms just off the top of his head and cannot do "notification" after 3 years.
Eh, he studies those things and actually used it at work. Doubt that he would need to use notification, so it's justified that he can't remember those words
I used to work at a sandwich shop and I LOVE his mentality of "choosing the right ingredients". Our addons were free, so it wasn't a matter of whether or not you could, but should. Don't expect that adding every ingredient will make the best item.
This is just fantastic! You guys are so cool together as father and son! Just hilarious at times and also very interesting! Keep rocking on my Canadian brothers
I love you two, fantastic content all the way around, and your messaging is always refreshing and a step above. That said, I hate to say it but I don't know if you can pull this off in the traditional sense having watched 2 parts thus far. There are definitely stark economic realities firmly attached to this end of the restaurant industry that cannot be gracefully factored out without discussing the motivation most have dining in these particular chains. It's fascinating to watch your Dad ignore them and roll with it though. As always, you guys are awesome. Thanks!
I wish I grew up with a father like this. Hell even a birth father like this, I had 2 very bad step dads HIYAhhh. Kids if you have good parents be VERY VERY grateful for real because not many do. This guy is a great father and incredible chef.
Good content Iron Chef Dad! For Chipotle I always get a bowl and 2 tortilla on the side. It's easy to make 2 smaller burritos with all the ingredients mixed together properly. With a panini press it warms everything up evenly while crisping up the outer layer of the tortilla.
I watched your dad all the time on Iron Chef! This is a great idea and I am glad you are helping your old, old dad like this in his old, old age. ;) Thanks for this and your father is highly revered in my heart.
I like this series. A few things I would have enjoyed for this video: having a list of the ingredients your dad put in the sub, having you try the sub too (especially because it was so random but he liked it so much) and a small note - the last tier list was missing Popeye's (no biggie, you probably know by now). Looking forward to the next one
Love your dad & the relationship you both have. I was cracking up 🤣🤣🤣🥰🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Do more videos together very entertaining & informative for example the most expensive fruit a real eye opener !!!!.
I agree about the burrito, I always assumed people get that to eat separate ingredients lol. I get the bowl and shake that thing up, so you can eat like nachos
Chipotle and Moe's burritos are best consumed as a bowl where you want the extra wet tortilla for calories/filling feeling to stretch the meal out to two. Hear me out. Tear the top off, top off with hot sauce, mix everything up, eat it with chips, save what's left for dinner.
I’ve never understood people who eat super fat burritos. I was happy to see his dad point out the issue. I think some people just don’t have common sense when they eat. Or they don’t notice much differences when tasting food.
@@BbGun-lw5vi Sometimes I get the extra fat ones because I'm starving hungry. To be honest it's not very hard to distribute your bites to get a mix of the different sections, however hearing Chef Lee articulate these problems, particularly with regard to the temperature and texture, really helped me understand how ridiculous they are. It ruins the entire idea of burritos / wraps being a clean, convenient meal.
@@mitchg93 Yeah, I just take several small bites across the cross-section to get a little bit of everything. To me the burrito is a nice package, and if you eat it that way + the nice package factor makes it better than the bow (for me). Plus as you go down the burrito the flavor profile can change, which is sometimes a bad thing and other times a good thing. I usually like the change and am excited to see how it changes. You actually get more with a bowl though, so I get a bowl when I have time to sit down, and save any extra for later.
Thankyou Jet and Sursur for putting together another great video. He hates greasy food, I actually like popeyes. I loved his random selection at Subway 😂 Also, i can't believe he doesn't like donuts 😲 Nova tif ication Bell 🤣🤣
Finally, that's what ive been saying about chipotle burritos forever. If you get a bowl, problem solved. But as a burrito, nothing is mixed so its one bite of entirely sour cream or entirely cheese lol
This is a great series, I'm interested in seeing him try raisin canes, in &out, zaxbys, Culver's. Dairy queen, sonic, Arby's, Jack in the box. would probably get a b rating or less, but would still be interesting to see his opinion. It's good that you try to buy the most popular item, because each different place has a good one, and a bad one. I don't really consider domino's, pizza hut or McAlister fast food, but little Caesars forsure cause the drive through moves faster than the other two pizza places
I was going to say that all Subway sandwiches taste the same, but I'll have to pick my toppings like my favourite chef did 😊 If you're lucky enough to visit Susur Lee's restaurant in Toronto, I know you'll be in for a treat. I went to his restaurant when it first opened; I always had 2 chefs in mind whose food I wanted to try and Susur Lee's food didn't disappoint. Years later I finally got to try the other chef's restaurant and I was underwhelmed. I think her original restaurant is now closed and she has one at Pearson international airport which says it all. Iron Chef Lee for the win. S tier 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Edit: it wasn't fair naming the 2nd chef by name so I edited it
I've never quite understood the Subway hate, although I understand part of it is that both the ingredient quality and business practices can be sketchier in the US than here in Canada... I figured out a couple of combos that really work well for me (love those banana peppers) and it's always been my favorite fast food as a result.
@@Strait_Raider I'm not american and never try subway before. But the way i see it is that subway is just dishonest about their products. They are not as healthy as they claimed
Great call out on the Chipotle burrito. Maybe that's why I always order the bowl; so I can mix and build my bites. Maybe the burrito needs a 'mixed' option, where they mix it all up before they wrap it. Free advice Chipotle...you're welcome!
You can get it mixed. I just expect that everyone kinda groans and rolls their eyes. The tacos are also a good choice for a balanced flavor(in my experience).
Chipotle bowls let you mix all the ingredients much more easily. Plus with the quantity and all the "hacks" you can apply (E.g. Free extra lettuce on the side), you get two portions of food.
These videos are always fun to watch because each fast food location seems to have different quality standards even if it’s from the same chain. You never know which is going to win
I really like that you do this with your dad. It is more impressive because he is an Iron Chef, but I just like seeing you guys becoming cooler through food.
If he likes Subway then he has to try Harvey's which is my favourite, if he says he likes to pick his own ingredients 😂 He also needs to try Firehouse subs which is way better especially their phillycheesesteak
You should make a poll for subway ingredients then have your dad make it gourmet 😂. I love these videos! These videos honestly helped me develop my relationship with my own father! hope to go and support your father’s restaurant one day!
Well he said the exact same thing that I hate about Chipotle. I don't really want the ingredients mixed up into a jambalay, but as a cook and a burrito enthusiast myself, I would want a wrapped up a little longer than fatter. Defeats the purpose of a burrito. For people who have got tired of Chipotle, give Freebirds a shot. Worth it.
Popeyes really is one of those spots where they are super inconsistent. I've got one local to me and its never given me a bad order but have gone out of town and stopped by others and have been regularly let down.
@@TurtletheShellMeh, there use to be a good KFC near where my grandmother lived. Never had bad food from them but never had a great experience at one anywhere else.
Can I suggest a new video series? How about Iron Chef Dad takes over a few different food trucks and makes something in their truck using their ingredients they have on a daily basis. We the people would benefit from these new specials on the menu that the owners probably would have never thought of.
Bruh, this dude spit out Popeyes and STILL rates it higher than McDees and TBell 😂😂😂. That Popeyes sammich is 🤌🏿🤌🏿🤌🏿🤌🏿. Easily my favorite fast food chicken sammy
