Iron Flame Recap & Review | Bookclub Book of The Week: Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros 

I personally didn’t find the first half of the book too boring because I did like the insight into the relationships that violet is having with her friends apart from Xaden. However I know a lot of people who agree with you on this. Apart from that I actually agree with most of what you said. I also thought that the way Violet’s mother was portrayed in this book is very different than in fourth wing and it’s very weird. I don’t know it just feels like they are two different characters. I also think there should have been a longer time span inbetween fourth wing and iron flame. Mostly because there would have been a huge benefit from a lot more editing as I think that a lot of scenes are way too rushed - e.g. the torturing scene. I really hope that the third book is gonna be more detailed and thought out.

You are 💯 right with all of it! It’s exactly how I felt! We have lots of time between Iron Flame and the next book so hopefully Rebecca Yarros will take some comments into consideration. ☺️

girl when Jack Barlowe came back, I almost threw the book across the room lol! Loved this review, really hope the next book is a bit more thought out? Iron Flame just felt a bit like she wrote it all out as it came to her and it never really made it to the editor🤣

I personally didn't feel the same emotional depth as Fourth Wing in this book. I feel like it might be the 'world-building' book of this series and hope the story picks its tempo back up in the next one. Teenage Andarna is 🫶🔥 I 100% get what you said about Violet's behavior, but I saw it as setting boundaries. She's (reluctantly) accepted that Xaden can't tell her everything but she's also saying that that's what she needs to be in a relationship with him (which he insists on). That's fair enough in my opinion, but I also think neither of them was emotionally ready to start off a healthy relationship in this book. Loved this video! ❤

I felt like the book could have been 2 instead of 1, it felt very daunting to read, very heavy 😅 I liked a lot of scenes but I also felt bored in a lot of them 😅 I agree with so many of your comments, I hope that the next book gets better with that plot twist at the end because I do love the concept of the series and I loved the first one soooo much, I just think I prefer more books that aren’t that long vs less but like 800+ pages per book 😅 love this book club videos! Please keep doing them😌💓✨

I agree with pretty much everything you said! The first half of the book was so slow! I wanted to throw my book every time Varrish showed up, he was awful. And I also thought Violet was annoying in this…even though the second half was better than the first, Violet and Xaden still had the same argument over and over and over again, though I do think it showed Violets youth well. The scene where Cat and Violet had to spar was the prettiest teenage girl stuff and I loved every second of it🤣

Violet's no different in this book than she was in Fourth Wing. It's simply made more apparent based on the book not seeming as novel. She's always been whiny, vapid, stupid, and incredibly annoying. That tends to happen when the author thinks heaping on a bunch of Mary Sue powers is a substitute for character development.
