Yes, i m absolutely with you! ..And all of the reacters on RU-vid, take the version, of this one but especially of "the rime of the..." form the 666 tour. It s a think that i will never understand.
Semi hijacking a comment to say they were FUCKING BRILLIANT just a few months ago in DC! UNBELIEVABLE, except there they were-so glad to be here for it.
Lyrically and musically, Iron Maiden is one of the greatest bands to ever grace the stage. They sure as fuck don’t make them like this any more. The production of this show is out of this world.
There an highly intelligent bunch of master musicians, all there songs have a meaning and not just a noise like most metal bands🤘 Keep rockin fella, age means nothing👊
Every fucking time I listen to this song, no matter how many times i did, the beginning gives me chills and when he goes "The sands of time for me are running Low." I get goosebumps. Truly epic. That's what good music does.
BOBOUDA they tried that for a gig or two before Paul Di'Anno joined but they quickly learned they needed a new singer cause he couldn't sing well enough on his own
@@jondunmore4268 Oh wow!! That's the bollocks, mate!! Having watched this VHS over 100 times I never thought or knew about that, but it seems true!! Proper psych evaluation! I wonder if Steve and Bruce will ever see your comment! What doc was it, I've never seen. Cheers, bruv. :)
@@kernzyp -- Sorry man, can't remember which doc. One of the hundreds out there on RU-vid.... but I seem to remember it's one which features Bruce flying their 747 around. Also: it's not hearsay - it's Bruce and Steve themselves very candidly talking about their early shows together, Bruce telling us that he went straight to Maiden's mgr and said, "If Steve wants to hog the center of the stage all the time, then I'm out." And trying to force Steve away from the center by using his mic-stand, etc. Very revealing and funny.
Iron Maiden always had such an awesome mystique about them- their lyrics were usually about mythical subjects and the theme was NEVER about partying and getting laid--thumbs up to Iron Maiden!
@@MrNSFC I was 15 as well when I saw them in January of ‘ 85 in Cleveland, my first concert, and it was freakin’ amazing! Twisted Sister not so much! I some how had floor seats, although I remember standing the entire time and as I remember, they were $11!
I had the privilege of seeing these guys 4 times and the best was in rock'n'rio in 2001 in the middle of 200 thousand people and it was simply sensational !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never forget
The musicianship of all the members, they lyric writing, content and delivery are incredible. Iron Maiden has always been and still remains a rock solid band.
I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time 'Cause at 5 o'clock, they take me to the Gallows Pole The sands of time for me are running low Running low, yeah! When the priest comes to read me the last rites Take a look through the bars at the last sights Of a world that has gone very wrong for me Can it be that there's some sort of error? Hard to stop the surmounting terror Is it really the end, not some crazy dream? Somebody, please tell me that I'm dreaming It's not easy to stop from screaming The words escape me when I try to speak Tears flow, but why am I crying? After all, I'm not afraid of dying Don't I believe that there never is an end? As the guards march me out to the courtyard Somebody cries from a cell, "God be with you" If there's a God, why has he let me go? As I walk, my life drifts before me Though the end is near I'm not sorry Catch my soul, it's willing to fly away Mark my words, believe my soul lives on Don't worry now that I have gone I've gone beyond to seek the truth When you know that your time is close at hand Maybe then you'll begin to understand Life down here is just a strange illusion Yeah-yeah-yeah, hallowed be thy name Yeah-yeah-yeah, hallowed by thy name Yeah
the best heavy metal band of all time. I remember when I saw them for the first time in Caracas in 1992 when i was 12 years old. Greetings from Venezuela UP THE IRONS
Cause they aren't mainstream that's why, yes they have a huge huge fan base a huge iron army, just they aren't mainstream enough. I'm sure you understand what I mean
I remember reading a quote from Steve Harris that he 'would rather sweep the streets than play music he doesn't like' - the man is a music legend. His music is as great as any that has been created.
i was there ,in 1983,at the long beach arena.long beach ,California. i was 15 .the show was so amazing me and my metal head /stoner buddy's went back the next night and bought scalper tickets and the show was even better.the fro the set,to the song list.and im 52 today and still have my ticket stub."UP THE IRONS"
53 now and saw Maiden for the first time in Houston in 1985. Good and bad came from it. Good news, most awesome concert I ever saw. Bad news, everything since pales in comparison. So appreciative that I grew up in the rock era I did. What must young music lovers think nowadays when they see a performance like this? BTW, Tesla and Def Lppard in the round in Austin some years after that is a closish second place.
One of the many, many things I love about Maiden is that they just seem so delighted to be doing what they're doing, with the people they're doing it with, for the fans they're doing it for. Up the Irons.
This song is fantastic! More than a simple narration about a medieval episode, I see it as an allegory of human life. Simply, perfect! To Maiden:love and gratitude!
@s2hull, holy cats ! I'm picturing it, but it's nothing like your memory. that is kick-ass. I never saw them live, and I'm genuinely happy that you did.
@@akirk1573I vividly remember trying to count how many times he said “scream for me Long Beach!” Looking forward to maybe catching them later this year. Haven’t seen them since the 90s, but feel I need to pay homage at least one more time.
I love how Bruce Dickinson is just sitting up there, at the back of the stage, while singing, in the beginning of the song. Even while he's just sitting there, he looks badass! 🤘🤘
I had a roommate in USAF who loved maiden. we were at upper hayford uk we had maiden going all the time. miss you k. john m. my brother in arms. too you find this. hope you are well
I saw them on piece of mind and then saw the power slave show. Piece of mind blew mine. Power slave was out of this world. When they did rhyme of the anchent mariner for 20 minutes, WOW. Iron Maiden was as good live as they were on vinel, yes they still made records back in those days better know as platters. After Adrian left the band they just never were the same.
I was at this show both nights and you wouldn't have to have sold your first born lol, because the tickets weren't that much ,seems like they were only 15-$20 ? Give or take. Great show though. One I'll never forget and I'm pushing 54 this year.
I was at this show! 1985 on the Powerslave Tour - I was 18 and it was my first live concert ever. Twisted Sister opened for them but got booed lol - such an amazing show and great memory. Thanks for posting!
Maiden is unique & awesome, a monster band indeed, but there are more than some similarities to Thin Lizzy, who were most likely a big influence on their music early on
A singular looking musical narrative from the point of view of a damned. An ambicious proposal, but masterfully executed. If this is not art,I don't what is it anymore. Deep song that combines poetry, reflection and a definitive and sweeping sound💕😉pure gold 🤟
Hallowed be thy Name. My absolute No1 Maiden song ever. In this version. Long Beach Arena, 1985. Live After Death Double Live Vinyl. Side 3, Song 1. Über alles!
One of their best and played with majestic power Steve's bass high up in the mix, but the guitar parts are what make this for me Goddamn they're great Up the Irons
