Now I know you're having us on; hooks in you! lol. Good work though. Interesting to hear your opinions and bringing back memories. Love seeing them on vinyl, making me jealous!!
You're really going great guns these days with the videos mate. The last one took off I just seen the views. Delighted for you. You're making sense on most of this. It's been a good few years since I done a Maiden ranking and like you things will have moved around. You've got me putting on some today after watching this though. Always happens after a Maiden video 😂. I had hoped for an announcement on something new by now. I'd love a new DVD from them. Have a good week James 🤘
Yeah, last week's video went crazy with the views, good times. A new Maiden DVD would be cool. Cheers as always mate and have a great week too my friend
A Matter of life or death keeps coming closer to the top, amazing album! The composition, execution and recording is superb, plus is prog and heavy as f***!! I think in 5 years is going to be my number one, i agree 90 percent with your ranking , thanks bro
Can totally agree with your love for Somewhere in Time but Killers has to be up there also, what an album! I guess some places in any listings are dictated by when you listen to an album, your age etc. a great list and good to see some love for the blaze era 👏
The chances are there are always gonna be differences in places when it comes to album rankings. Yeah Somewhere In Time is an amazing album and gotta love the Blaze era too. Cheers for watching fella 👍
Cool ranking, here's mine 1. Somewhere In Time 2. Powerslave 3. Killers 4. Iron Maiden 5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 6. Piece of Mind 7. The Number of the Beast 8. Brave New World 9. The X Factor 10. Fear of the Dark 11. A Matter of Life and Death 12. The Final Frontier 13. Dance of Death 14. No Prayer For the Dying 15. Virtual XI 16. The Book of Souls 17. Senjutsu
And don't forget, Somewhere In Time has the then symbol of the Kate Bush Club as graffiti on the shop window :-) :-) Bruce in particular was never shy about talking of his love of Kate in Kerrang back in the 80s.
I never like to rank albums until I listen to them on different types of medium and headphones, and a really good speaker system in the car. Because my opinion changes but I agree with your top five.
You’re still going to get some shit for Killers this time & that’s ok, it’s your ranking lol. I’ve always loved the guitar tone on Piece Of Mind. Love your #1 🤘 Great job James
You know that Darcy. When it comes to album ranking video's you're never going to please everyone. Yeah Somewhere In Time still definitely deserving its place at the top of the pile. Cheers mate 👍
Interesting to see such shifting in ranking of certain albums that can take place. Completely disagree with some of the ranks, Fear of the Dark fx. Incredible album. My favourite is also Somewhere in Time Jolly good show 🤘☮️🖤
If you disagree in some places, that's all good. It would be a dull world if we all had the exact same opinion. And yes Somewhere In Time is an absolute banger. Cheers for watching and commenting
Love the atmosphere, and the space future sound of SIT. Also, my favorite artwork. 1. Somewhere in Time 2. Powerslave 3. The Number of the Beast 4. Piece of Mind 5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 6. Killers 7. Iron Maiden 8. Brave New World 9. Fear of the Dark 10. No Prayer for the Dying 11. A Matter of Life and Death 12. Dance of Death 13. The Book of Souls 14. The X Factor 15. The Final Frontier 16. Virtual XI 17. Senjustu Haven't given Senjustu many listens, so that can change. The 80s is unbeatable.
Now that’s the same bottom 5 as me and the right placement of Fear Of The Dark. Still can’t believe he put it last. Pretty much the same as I’d rank them from top to bottom with one or two little exceptions 👍🏻
Fear of The Dark has some great stuff on,it,but, also, some of the weakest songs they ever wrote. Somewhere In Time will always be top of the pile. Cheers for watching
Greatly appreciate listening to informed opinions from people who have invested enough time to warrant being heard, as much as my list might differ. Nice to see AMOLAD get different treatment this time. 1. A Matter of Life and Death 2. Powerslave 3. Number of the Beast 4. Seventh Son 5. Senjutsu 6. Piece of Mind 7. Somewhere in Time 8. The Book of Souls 9. Dance of Death 10. Brave New World 11. Killers 12. Iron Maiden 13. Final Frontier 14. X Factor 15. Fear of the Dark 16. Virtual XI 17. No Prayer For The Dying
I’ve had all of maidens albums going round in my car each week since the start of year in order for me to do a re rank and after watching yours - it’s gets me so excited to it again 😂 my last ranking was with my 17 year old mindset so it’s been great fun to jam them all one by one again! Still guttered to see the debut not high up but at least it’s in the top ten 😂 great video mate!
Somewhere in time got me in to Maiden, still my go to Maiden album 1 somewhere in time 2 Peace of mind 3 Powerslave 4 Seventh son 5 Number of the beast 6 No prayer for the Dying
1. Iron Maiden 2. Killers 3. Powerslave 4. The Number of the Beast 5. Piece of Mind 6. Somewhere in Time 7. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 8. Fear of the Dark 9. Brave New World 10. No Prayer for the Dying 11. The X Factor 12. Virtual XI 13. A Matter of Life and Death 14. Dance of Death 15. Senjutsu 16. The Final Frontier 17. The Book of Souls
My top ten ranking: 1. Piece of Mind 2. Powerslave 3. The Number of the Beast 4. Somewhere in Time 5. Iron Maiden 6. Seven Son .... 7. Book of Souls 8. Brave New World 9. Killers 10. Fear of the Dark
Thanks Mr Boulder. As you know I recently listened to your original IM ranking, so it’s a bonus to get this update. I had to laugh about your refresh on Killers, i hope the peer pressure didn’t get to you… but now you’re copping it for putting FoTD last! 😊 Despite some big differences elsewhere, we’re still aligned on the albums in the top 5, so all good!👍🏼
Haha. No Killers is up the list as I genuinely enjoy it more now than I did at the time of my original video. And yeah now I'm getting shit for having Fear of The Dark last, I can't win 😂. Cheers for watching fella, much appreciated
When the wild wind blows is enough to propel The Final Frontier into middle ranking for me, just an absolute epic of a song. As usual a nicely explained ranking video James.
They’ve been my favorite band since I was 10. I heard Live After Death and that caught me immediately lol I love the first 7 albums 💯💯💯No Prayer is pretty good. I like half of Fear of the Dark. Hate the Blaze era and since Bruce & Adrian came back in 1999 I like about 6 songs lol
The Blaze era is underrated, if you give them time they click with you. The first 7 are untouchable, apart from Killers. That album is overrated. Cheers
Loving the ranking videos🤘 My ranking: 1. Number of the beast 2. Somewhere in time 3. Powerslave 4. Seaventh son of a seaventh son 5. Piece of mind 6. Fear of the dark 7. No prayer for the dying 8. Killers 9. Brave new world 10. A matter of life and death 11. The x factor 12. Iron Maiden 13. Dance of death 14. The book of souls 15. The final frontier 16. Senjetsu 17. Virtual XI
Ok. I’ve pondered this some more - how about doing a maiden top ten/twenty songs list from each era? 1980-88 because, let’s face it, pinning it down to twenty will be difficult and ten, nigh on impossible! Then 1990-2000 and 2000-2021 for example? I’d be interested to see your choices!
It seems we disagree on quite a lot of Maiden songs, for instance I really like "Coming Home" from The Final Frontier. But I guess music is meant for discovery not just nodding your head (in agreement). I love hearing you talk about this band. 😃
1: Powerslave 2: Seventh Son of a seventh son 3: Somewhere in Time 4: A Matter of life and Death 5: Piece of Mind 6: Number of the beast 7: Brave New World 8: Dance of Death 9: Book of Souls 10: Final Frontier 11: Senjutsu 12: Killers 13: Iron Maiden 14: The X Factor 15: Fear of the Dark 16: Virtual XI 17: No Prayer for the Dying
Actually, I love Gers' era. I gonna put it in that way. Starting from No Payer For The Dying, which is my second favorite Maiden, to Fear OThe Dark, my favorite. X Factor is a great album. 2A.M. is my favorite on this album. The solo is total Maiden. In fact, I just realize that I love Gers' playing and vibe which is clear on Ghost Of The Navigator and FOTD.
I’ll never change my mind, but imo, the first two albums with Di’Anno on vocals are the best Iron Maiden albums. I just dig the songs way more than what they did with Dickinson and i absolutely love Paul’s vocals. Do I love Dickinson? Hell yes. In fact, they made a few masterpiece albums with Bruce on vocals. After Somewhere In Time though, they lost me and I lost complete interest in what came after. My number 1 is the first album, and 2 is Killers. 3. Powerslave 4. Seventh Son 5. Somewhere in time 6. Number of the beast 7. Piece of mind
That's fair enough. I've always preferred the Bruce stuff but I also really enjoy the Di'Anno stuff too. Cheers for watching and commenting. Much appreciated
Fear of the dark would be much higher for me, but very interesting ranking agree with some of your other ranking like not have blaze albums last and i also have Somewhere in time first🤘
There are some great songs on Fear of The Dark, but some proper shit on it too. Yeah, the Blaze albums get unfairly shit on. Definitely Somewhere In Time for the win. Cheers
Great updated Iron Maiden ranking James! Still haven't listened to the Blaze albums, need to. I can't lie, I don't like the song Fear of the dark, it's overplayed like you said but I don't think it's actually that great. Good to see Killers is a little higher on your list, it has some great songs on it but it's not my favourite. I'm really glad A matter of life and death has shot up your list, it's my favourite of their newer albums despite its length. Number of the beast and Powerslave would be a little higher for me, but Somewhere in time is fantastic! Nice one mate 😁🤘🏻🤘🏻
Agrees on Fear of The Dark Josh, I'm cool with it, but Maiden have so many better songs, in my opinion. Yep, Killers and AMOLAD have definitely gone up in my eyes. Somewhere In Time will always be my number 1. Cheers as always mate
@mrboulder9714 Yeah, they have so many better songs than Fear of the dark! It kinda puts me off seeing them again, because I know they'll play it. Like Anthrax and Antisocial with you! Yeah, that's really great Killers and A matter of life have gone up! They're great albums! Nice one, yeah Somewhere in time is one of their best for sure, it's cool it's your number 1. You're welcome mate, as always 😊🤘🏻
1. Powerslave 2. Piece of Mind 3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 4. Somewhere in Time 5. Number of the Beast 6. A Matter of Life and Death 7. Brave New World 8. Dance of Death 9. Senjutsu 10. Iron Maiden 11. Killers 12. The Final Frontier 13. Book of Souls 14. Fear of the Dark 15. The X Factor 16. Virtual XI 17. No Prayer for the Dying
1. Powerslave 2. Somewhere In Time 3. Brave New World 4. Iron Maiden 5. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 6. Killers 7. The X Factor 8. The Number Of The Beast 9. Piece Of Mind 10. Fear Of The Dark 11. A Matter Of Life And Death 12. Dance Of Death 13. The Final Frontier 14. Virtual XI 15. No Prayer For The Dying 16. Senjutsu 17. The Book Of Souls It just occurred to me that I honestly can't remember how ANY song from the last 2 albums go. Clearly, I definitely need to revisit them lol. Cheers Mr. Boulder!!
Totally agree with #1... I'm not the biggest Maiden fan in the world but that album is the best of theirs that I've ever owned or heard. It has my 2 of my top 5 favorite Maiden songs on it... Wasted Years and Stranger in a Strange Land
Yeah Somewhere In Time is such a classic album with many great songs. Wasted Years and Alexander The Great being 2 of my favourite's. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
Nice one mate big fan of your vids One thing that makes maiden one of the greats is chances are everyone has a different album ranking, such is the quality of the material Somewhere in Time SSOASS Powerslave Piece of Mind Number of the Beast Brave New World FOTD Dance of Death AMOLAD Killers Iron Maiden Book of souls No prayer for the dying Final Frontier The X factor Virtual XI I haven’t listened to shunjitsu enough to really rank it, but I feel it follows a similar path to their stuff post AMOLAD, too much bloat as they try to go for almost a more proggy sound. What a band though - my fave
I just got into maiden but I've been liking metal for years now. I skipped them and went to the more extreme stuff but this week I was listening the whole discgraphy and I tell Somewhere in time is absolute perfection. All killer no filler. My second favorite power slave, number of the beast and the first two kind of mid. I still need to listen to the rest of the discgraphy from seven son foward
@mrboulder9714 I was chomping at the bit to see where Killers ended u and. What as gonna be last. Fear Of The Dark has s good few bangers on it, but there's some absolute cack on it too. Agreed with Final Frontier too. That fucking intro for that long, only to kick off a plod- fest o a title track. It shoulda started with El Dorado. I seen them lon that tour and the gig started with the intro/title track.I was hopjng for the usual banger to kick it off, not 9 mins of uninspired plodding. 1 00% with Somewhere Time. The only one with a hope of matching it is Powerslave. I can never decide which is better.
Interesting ranking and great video. This is mine; 1. Somewhere in Time 2. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 3. Powerslave 4. Piece of Mind 5. Iron Maiden 6. The Number of the Beast 7. Killers 8. A Matter of Life and Death 9. Brave New World 10. The Final Frontier 11. Dance of Death 12. No Prayer for the Dying 13. The X Factor 14. Fear of the Dark 15. Senjutsu 16. Book of Souls 17. Virtual XI
17. Virtual XI 16. The X Factor 15. No Prayer for the Dying 14. Senjutsu 13. The Final Frontier 12. The Book of Souls 11. Dance of Death 10. Fear of the Dark 09. Brave New World 08. Seventh Son of A Seventh Son 07. A Matter of Life and Death 06. Piece of Mind 05. Somewhere in Time 04. Killers 03. Powerslave 02. Iron Maiden 01. Number of the Beast
It's great to hear the new ranking! I posted a ranking on your previous video, but it has changed a bit here and there. I enjoy at least some tracks on even the albums at the bottom of my list. They've never made a bad album. 1. A Matter of Life and Death 2. Somewhere in Time 3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 4. The Number of the Beast 5. Powerslave 6. Senjitsu 7. Brave New World 8. Book of Souls 9. Final Frontier 10. Dance of Death 11. Piece of Mind 12. Killers 13. X Factor 14. Iron Maiden 15. Virtual XI 16. Fear of the Dark 17. No Prayer for the Dying
Great ranking. I've really changed my mind over AMOLAD, great album. Somewhere In Time will always be my favourite. Thanks for watching and sharing your ranking. Cheers
Great stuff as always James, nice to see Somewhere in Time getting some love, excellent album. Caught Somewhere in Time is one of Maidens best songs. I'd go 1. Seventh Son 2. Somewhere in Time 3. Powerslave 4. Piece of Mind The other pre Seventh Son ones come next and the all the post Seventh Son ones for me are pretty ordinary apart from the odd song here and there - Be Quick or Be Dead is good.
Good to hear your thoughts on the albums James. Senjutsu has it's moments but yeah it drags a bit, an improvement on book of souls though for me. The final frontier seems to lack something, even though there are some very good songs on it, a noticeable drop off from amolad, which is an exceptional album. Good to see dance of death up there as well, an over looked album. Somewhere in time is very unique with the sound and I think the band made it work with the song topics and artwork. A worthy top album and glad the band have revisited it.
1. Piece of Mind (1983) 2. The Number of the Beast (1982) 3. Powerslave (1984) 4. Killers (1981) 5. Somewhere In Time (1986) 6. Brave New World (2000) 7. Iron Maiden (1980) 8. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988) 9. Dance of Death (2003) 10. Senjutsu (2021) 11. A Matter of Life and Death (2006) 12. The Book of Souls (2015) 13. The X Factor (1995) 14. Fear of the Dark (1992) 15. No Prayer for the Dying (1990) 16. The Final Frontier (2010) 17. Virtual XI (1998)
Top 5: 1. Somewhere In Time 2. Powerslave 3. NOTB 4. SSOTSS 5. Brave New World I feel like their first two albums stand alone in another realm. As they should. Both are masterpieces and have that raw sound that can't be duplicated. Finally. 100% agree Somewhere in Time is my all-time favorite. 🤘
Love the ranking. We share some of the same opinions regarding some of the albums and song Yep, somewhere in time is n 1 from here to eternity. N2 is not even close 😅
Love Maiden but lots of the modern era stuff tends to be so unnecessarily long to the point where it’s just boring. I don’t mind long songs when it interesting musically and doesnt feel long for the sake of it. But Maiden have developed this habit 10min slogs just to prove a point or please themselves. As I said love Maiden and some of the best songs are long but they really need a producer or someone in the studio to push back and tell them when a song needs an edit.
I hear ya fella. If there is one thing this video has taught me, it's that you need to put time into the 2000's era Maiden albums. But I agree, they need to bring in a producer to trim the fat on the songs. Cheers for watching
In no universe known or unknown will Fear of the Dark be worse the bag of hot garbage that is The Final Frontier. And Senjitsu should be higher up as well. Both those albums are miles better than No Prayer for the Dying. Love your channel!
Interesting video! This is what I love about maiden - everyone has their own favourites in their own places throughout the rankings. For what it’s worth - here’s mine: 1. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 2. Powerslave 3. Number of the Beast 4. Somewhere in Time 5. A Matter of Life and Death 6. Piece of Mind 7. Brave New World 8. Dance of Death 9. The Book of Souls 10. Iron Maiden 11. Senjutsu 12. Killers 13. No Prayer for the Dying 14. The Final Frontier 15. The X Factor 16. Fear of the Dark 17. Virtual XI It almost seems dismissive to place killers and iron maiden so low, but I grew up with Bruce and hey, if we were all the same the world would be a boring place!
I like the Di'Anno stuff, but for me it's never gonna touch the 82 to 88 period with Bruce. That's a great ranking, thanks for sharing it. Cheers for watching fella. Much appreciated
@@mrboulder9714 totally agree. Let’s face it, maiden spent the 80’s being the greatest heavy metal band on the planet. They’re still that now, but like you quite rightly say - the 82-88 period is unparalleled genius!
Been binge listening to Maiden and Bruce's solo stuff recently so like you I've been wanting to update my rankings 17. No Prayer for the Dying 16. Virtual X1 15. Fear of the Dark 14. X Factor 13. Dance of Death 12. The Final Frontier 11. Iron Maiden 10. Shenjutsu (I always misspell it) 9. 7th Son of a 7th Son 8. Book of Souls 7. Number of the Beast 6. Brave New World 5. Killers 4. A Matter of Life and Death 3. Somewhere in Time 2. Piece of Mind 1. Powerslave Hell let's throw in Bruces solo albums while were at it 7. Skunkworks 6. Balls to Picasso 5. Tattooed Millionaire 4. Chemical Wedding 3. Tyranny of Souls 2. The Mandrake Project 1. Accident of Birth 🤘🤘
Mr Boulder, cheers from Colombia. I agree wit a lot of what you have expressed here. I find rather intriguing your idea about some Maiden songs as 'filler material'. It's noteworthy for me that a song like The Prophecy could be seen as filler. I think that this entail something amazing about Maiden: their 'ok' songs are songs that many bands would consider their masterpieces. Some of those filler songs are very dear for me, like Quest for Fire, I don't know, maybe is like that because I got to see the Annaud movie because of that reference. I find it very sad to realize that Maiden it's never gonna play songs like Deja Vu or Prophecy live... Maiden England is very cool because it has a live rendition of Still Life, I wonder how that happened. Of course we all sing along to Fear of the Dark, but... well, many good songs have been forgotten. We've seen here in Colombia Maiden for three fantastic times, I wish they would get a surprise set going, but I wouldn't bet 10 cents on it. Again, Cheers from Bogotá.
Hi. Many thanks for your comment. I completely agree, even the filler songs on Maiden albums are still really good. Cheers for watching, it's much appreciated 👏
Interesting that Matter of Life and Death has gone up so much in your estimation - It's never been my fave of the 2000s era but occasionally click with it. Nice to see Killers higher too - Final Frontier is probably the one I have the most difference with - it's one of my fave latter day albums.
Somewhere in Time used to be a Fav of mine and listened to a lot, but it has dropped down the rankings a little due to its Synth heavy guitars not appealing to me anymore as much as they once did. The songs themselves are of quite a consistently good quality which is a rare thing across a whole album for Maiden imo. But yeah, it would likely be in my top 5 or 6 albums from them.
Top Maiden ranking James, did feel you got a bit too much flac for your last one. I think a lot of people are just so invested in these albums, I know I am. A lot of these overplayed songs if I was to hear them live I would be the guy singing them the loudest. " Book Of Souls ' and " Senjutsu ", I don't mind the length. And I too love " Empire Of The Clouds ". Maiden in September New Zealand can't wait.🤘
El Dorado is the last tune I’ve heard from them that has that early Maiden vibe that made me a fan. If anyone has any other suggestions, they’ve gone quite progy these days. Made a playlist of your video. 🤟
Number of the Beast is so iconic and nostalgic for me , as a 13 year old my first metal concert was Iron Maiden/Judas Priest two of the absolute greatest bands ever on the same bill it totally blew me away being around 12 rows up on KK’s and Dave Murry’s side of the stage and I believe Clive Burr was on drums that night I’m not quite sure , so Number of the Beast would be my favorite album but my favorite song is off Somewhere in Time , Stranger in a Strange Land what a great song and excellent guitar solo from Adrian Smith , great ranking Mr Boulder cheers from USA
Number of The Beast was the first Maiden album I heard in around 86/87. Stranger In A Strange Land is such a great track. Cheers for watching and commenting, it's much appreciated
1. Number of the beast 2. Fear of the dark 3. No prayer for the dying 4. Somewhere in time 5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 6. Brave New World 7. Piece of Mind 8. Powerslave 9. Dance of Death 10.
Good to hear your thoughts on Maiden's discography. 'Fear of the Dark' would probably be close to the bottom for me too. To me, 'The Final Frontier' only really kicks in after the fourth song although "El Dorado" has grown on me. I really like "The Red and the Black" too. I obviously agree that 'Somewhere in Time' is the best Maiden album. I wonder how many Maiden fans pooped themselves with childish rage when they saw 'Fear of the Dark' in last place :D
Cheers mate. Yep, some people are not happy with Fear of The Dark last but it's such a bloated and unbalanced album for me. You know as well as I doztye quality of Somewhere In Time Kim, such a perfect album. Cheers as always mate 👍
@@mrboulder9714 Jeez... it's incredible how sensitive people can be. :D Instead of getting their manboobies in a twist and whine about it on YT, they should spend that energy on listening to the music they enjoy so much. Or they could do their own ranking.
@@This-Is-Music Manboobies 😂😂😂. Definitely Kim, they can't be bothered to make their own video's, it's just easier to complain on other people's videos
I recently sat down and listened through all of maidens albums again for me final frontier is the worst now I actually fell asleep listening to that one! top for me has been seventh son for many years now and it wasn't even the 1st maiden album I listened to either thanks James!
Final Frontier has its moment's but doesn't need to be anywhere near as long as it is. Seventh Son is superb, definitely one of my favourite's. Cheers Robert
Killers has definitely made its way up the ranking, but I doubt anything will ever replace Somewhere In Time at the top of the Maiden discography for me. Thanks for watching
Here's my odd list with some surprise placings and it's gonna maybe get people upset but this is my favorite heavy metal band. 17. A Matter Of Life And Death 16. The X Factor 15. The Book Of Souls 14. Virtual XI 13. Senjutsu 12. The Final Frontier 11. Dance Of Death 10. Brave New World 9. Iron Maiden 8. Fear Of The Dark 7. Killers 6. No Prayer For The Dying 5. Piece Of Mind 4. The Number Of The Beast 3. Somewhere In Time 2. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 1. Powerslave
Excellent video James! Agreed with most of your placements. Has to be said, where as I spun 'Senjutsu' loads when it came out, nowadays I find it to be very boring sadly. I never go back to it honestly. 'No Prayer For The Dying' will always be a underrated gem, same goes for the two Blaze records. We joke about the artwork of 'Fistful of Metal' but honestly 'Dance of Death' is dreadful as well 😂 The longer you look at that artwork the worse it gets, absolutely dreadful stuff. I have to ask James, what is your favorite IM artwork/Eddie? Cheers as always buddy, thanks for making great content 🤘🙂
Favourite artworks are definitely Powerslave and Somewhere In Time Kenan. No Prayer and the Blaze albums are definitely underrated mate. Cheers as always fella 👍
I’m surprised MOLAD ranked so high? That’s always been my least favorite lol I’ll have to listen to it again. I’ve always thought the first 7 albums are flawless. I remember buying Somewhere in Time & Seventh Son the day they were released. I remember being so excited I couldn’t wait to get home lol
Hi James!!! Cool and kind of controversial too to some "taliban Maiden fans", but that ok you can't please them all. However to me both album with Blaze remains at the bottom of my list and you're right aboit the repetitive chorus in some songs. Totally agree with your thoughts about "AMLOAD". Loved your N°1, but mine it's still "Piece of Mind", lol. cheers and be well
The Blaze albums are not for everyone. If people have tried properly with them and just can't get on with them, I have no problem with that. It's when Bruce fan boys just completely dismiss them for no reason I find frustrating. Peice of Mind is excellent mate. Cheers Cristian
@@mrboulder9714 I'm a Bruce fan, but my issue with the two Blaze release is that the songs are not that good. I remember listening XF on release date and thinking "the voice is good, but the album is boring..." and for us spanish speaking fans the song "Como Estais Amigos" is cheesy, cheesy, cheesy....
I agree that the title track of Senjutsu is SO plodding and dull. Sounds like same note for about seven minutes at the same pace. Worst show opener ever too. I know people dont like Blaze but give me Futureal over that anyday, it's fun and explosive
Think a lot of the maiden albums have been patchy after the seventh son album in 88, would agree the somewhere in time album is a top 5 maiden album, i remember buying the record on its release in 1986 from wh smith when i was 20, i think the latest releases from judas priest and saxon are well better than the last maiden album senjusu.
The 2000's era Maiden albums definitely need a lot of time put into them. Wow buying records at WH Smiths, that takes me back. Yeah the most recent Saxon and Priest records are much better than Senjetsu. Cheers for watching and commenting fella 👍
Man I do not care for Killers either, I will never listen to it. It would be my last too, I really do not care for Paul dianno's vocals, even though Iron Maiden album have some classics, but with Bruce singing much better, but Killers not even with Bruce I like it. I do like Blazey era, some really nice song there. The problem with Blazey is he trying to sing Bruce's songs...
I've never understood the love for killers, although I do enjoy it more than I used too. I prefer Blaze's vocals over Di'Anno any day of the week. Cheers for watching and commenting
Fear Of The Dark is their worst?!?? I know it's nowhere near their best but come on. It's easily the best thing they did in the 90s and arguably better than a couple of the post Brave New World albums. The album should have been 8 songs not 12, I think everybody agrees to that. No Prayer For The Dying is just unbearable to get through past a couple songs.
1.killers 2. iron maiden 3. number of the beast 4. peace of mind 5. powerslave These are the Albums i Listen to the most, Old School Maiden Fan Since 1980 ! Anything After Powerslave is Hit and Miss In My Opinion!
I can't stand the Blaze albums, and some of the latest Maiden albums. The X Factor has a couple of great returns to form but with Blaze on vocals, and those sound great, but then the songs just plod on and on and get really dull and too long. Me though I'm coming from a place where I adore the punky, sharp-as-a-knife original Di'Anno Maiden sound most. I love when they take some effort to mix some real energy into their songs, rather than just plodding on aimlessly for like two hours per song. That being said I don't mind Progressive quite the opposite... Just if you are going to be Progressive, then BE PROGRESSIVE! Don't be like a cat sniffing around the hot plate of food forever and ever and never get to the good stuff!
The Blaze albums are cool if you give them time. It was definitely the start of Maiden writing unnecessarily long albums though. If you prefer the punkier style of the Di'Anno albums, I'm not surprised you find the more recent stuff more difficult to get into. Thanks for watching
I'm sorry but how can you compare the repetitiveness of The Angel and the Gambler with Blood Brothers or The Nomad?!? There's no arguments to be had here - TAATG literally repeats the same 3 lines for about 5 minutes! Ridiculous comparison - otherwise, good ranking, I totally disagree wity most of your choices but that's half the fun!
It'd really not ridiculous. The Angel and The Gambler may go on for longer, but Nomad and Blood Brothers still have the same repetitive choruses that go on forever. It just makes me laugh how Bruce fans are quick to criticise TAATG, but don't dare do the same thing with Bruce era songs. Cheers for watching and commenting fella 👍
I only ever saw Iron Maiden the once & that was in the late 70s (might have been 1980, can't remember) when Paul DiAnno was on vocals & Dennis Stratton was on guitar. They were a support band but I can't remember who for. They were always on the light side for my taste with each album having one or maybe two good songs & the rest very forgettable. For the twin guitar sound I always preferred Wishbone Ash by miles. Never understood the comparison between Bruce Dickinson & Rob Halford - Bruce couldn't tie Rob's boot laces in my opinion but hey-ho.
@@mrboulder9714 The members of very popular bands often get grossly overrated in their individual musicianship purely because they are members of popular bands. A great example of this is the fact that Ringo Starr ALWAYS makes it into "The World's Greatest Drummers" top 10 list not because he was a great drummer (he wasn't) but because he was drummer in The Beatles. The exact same thing has happened with Dickinson. He's not a bad singer per se BUT he is nowhere near as good as many rock vocalists who are always ranked well below him, Geoff Tate of Queensryche for example. I'm not actually a fan of Queensryche but Geoff's pipes cannot be denied.
@ANationalAcrobat-qj2dl Where as I agree that Ringo Start has no place on a list if great drummers, Bruce Dickinson well and truly deserves his position on any list of great singers
@@mrboulder9714 Nah, not at all, mate. I saw Bruce Dickinson with his band Samson when they were a support band (to Rainbow I think it was but I could very well be mistaken) & I can tell you that Dickinson was SOOOOOOOO good that he got booed off the stage under a hail of bottles & cans. 😕
@ANationalAcrobat-qj2dl That was atbleast 42 years ago then. Bruce is still fronting Maiden to this day and still sounding fantastic. Saw them in London last summer, and his vocals were excellent
are any of the newer albums worth talking about? I don't think Fear of the dark is that bad I don't think it's top 7 but not 17th place? everybody hears music differently? I think the only good thing about Sinjusti is the art work? is Killers really that Bad I wouldn't say fist place I wouln't say 11nth I would say 6th or 7th? again everybody hears music differently? what do you think about the album artwork of Dance with death? heres my ranking of the top 10 the important albums!!! 10. Piece of mind 2. 7th son of a 7th son 1. well this album made alot of magazines list top 100 album/ top 10 heavies of the 80's and is on a list of metal shop 1. number of beast
17.Virtual 11, X factor, no prayer for the dying, senjutsu, the final frontier, a matter of life and death, dance of death, fear of the dark, the book of souls, killers, seventh son, iron maiden, somewhere in time, brave new world, piece of mind, the number of the beast, 1.powerslave.
@mrboulder9714 to me the song Fear of the dark puts it over, albums like Virtual XI, dance of death. Matter, no prayer and final frontier not to mention songs like be quick, from here to eternity and afraid to shoot strangers are pretty solid songs. All the albums I know have some good songs on them but I couldn't never put them as better albums than fear
@FivesWasRight There's about 4 or 5 really good songs on Fear of The Dark. There's also rubbish like The Apparition and Childshood End that for me, are some of the worst Maiden songs ever recorded. As for the title track, it's ok, but there are many other Maiden songs I would prefer to hear in the live set over that personally
1. Seventh Son 2. Powerslave 3. Somewhere in time 4. Killers 5. Iron Maiden 6. Piece of mind 7. Number of the beast 8. No prayer 9. Fear of the dark 10. Brave new world 11. Dance of death 12. Matter of life 13. Final Frontier 14. Book of souls 15. Senjetsu 16. X factor 17. Virtual X
Just to let you know I've been a maiden fan now for 42 years. And I have to say that there last two albums are way to long and I don't have them and I will not be buying them. For me maiden have gone over the top since Bruce came back. Why is it now that there average song length is 7 mins and not the 4 to 5 mins. I will finish off what I have to say as it's getting late. So I give you my opinion.
