So good to see you again kind Sir!....Another Fan-tastic job featuring your unlimited skills, techniques and above all understanding of the Guitar itself!.... Your videos give me hope because I have small hands/short fingers and I see you’re not afraid to bend with the pinky. Many players can reach with the ring finger or just switch positions to avoid the pinky bend.

Hey William, thanks for the comment and I'm so glad I can be of inspiration. I think my hands are on the smaller side too (at least by Western standards) but I've never even thought of not using my pinky. I think it's simply a habit that many people develop early on. For me, the bigger challenge is trying to keep my thumb wrapped around the neck (or positioned at the top of the neck) versus behind it. Definitely something I had to work on :)

Thanks for the great lesson! Finally after two weeks im able to play it up to speed, although with a few mistakes. I have played for five years with long breaks, this is the first real solo I learned. Really good video, finally I felt like I improved after a long time. Clearly explained, superb playing by you. I'm still trying to get that repeat bend part right it's always been hard for me idk if it's the string gauge that's making it hard for me to bend it

Hi Andrew, are you talking about the section that starts at 2:44? I think that is the most challenging part of both solos. It looks so simple and repetitive in the tabs, but the timing can be tricky :)

Hmmm... I would say it's best to stay relaxed and practice along to the original song slowed down. Perhaps start around 75% of the original speed, and slowly work your way up. :)

What worked for me was taking Guitar Pro software and slowing the tab/song down to about 50--60% and keep it there for a couple days or so. I think practicing that slow for that long helps develop muscle memory and timing. Then bump it up 10% or so after a couple of days making sure that you have the timing down. And practice with drums or metronome. Just my thoughts. Time consuming and boring but really helped me get the timing down--Ben

I've watched a few videos & was wondering if you use stomp boxes or a modeler? Definitely sounds like a phaser on this one & Bark at the Moon. If you use a modeler do you share presets? Awesome videos man! Keep doing the good stuff!!!!!!! 🤘😁🤘

Hi Brett, thanks! Yes, I do use a modeler for recording - Line 6 Helix. Also, I do have patches that I share. Also, you have a very good ear - with Bark at the Moon the phaser was a little more prominent (like the original), but I tend to add a slight little bit of phase when recording solos, quite often. Very much inspired by Van Halen's use of the Phase 90 on the early recordings. I find it that when mixed with the overdriven tone and some delay, it really adds a nice texture to the tone. :)

Why do I have such a problem with vibrato when it seems to be something simple? I'm pretty sure there are other more complicated things that I learn/do easily and yet I suck at this basic skill. (No lessons, by the way- so, yea, there's that too). Any insight or videos you might recommend?

Hi Johny, I use 9 gauge strings. While I prefer the tone of 10s (slightly more), I use 9s because they are more "bendy" and I can get a little wilder with them :)
