I enjoyed Rachel's build up and narration of this excellent video. It brought back some great memories of my concert going days during the 70s,8os and 90s in Canada and the USA. These days I am very selective and don't see so many concerts anymore ; as ticket prices are insane. Whenever I finally make it over to England, I'll be sure to drop by the Cart & Horse for a pint and to pay my respect to the talents and longevity of Iron Maiden. I will also do a "cheers" to Wills for introducing me to this unique and historic pub. 41 years ago, in 1982, I saw Maiden open for the Scorpions in Victoria B.C, Canada during their "Beast on the Road Tour ". The crowd went crazy when Eddie walked out on stage , it was a great show and the Scorpions brought the house down! They were in their prime. Oh those were the days when concert tickets were under 10 dollars! Cheers to the good times, both then and now! 🎵☮👍
Wow, you saw them in ‘82, that’s amazing. I didn’t really get into them until about ‘87 / ‘88, to be honest, it was because of an advert on Tv at the time for the Lucozade drink with the athlete Daley Thompson which played the maiden track, Phantom of the Opera, which I loved. It was such a good gig, they were as good as if not better than I’ve ever seen them. Never really listened to The Scorpions, but I remember really enjoying their set from the Moscow Music Peace Festival from about ‘88 which was broadcast on the radio. Loved visiting the Cart and Horses, never been there before. Really enjoyed seeing the Ruskin arms too. Thanks again for watching and for your brilliant comment. 🤘
In this Iron Maiden Tour, they put on an incredible show, and you both did an outstanding job capturing it. Your vlog is simply awesome, my friend! Thank you for sharing this fantastic experience with us. 👏😊
This was brilliantly put together guys, top notch! Pete has played the drums all his life, and gigged in bands for over 20 years, he has a passion for music, and enjoys all kinds of music, including the heavy stuff , so this was right up his street🎸🤙. Our friend Andy was at the gig the night before, we shared your video with him, and he said you did a fantastic job of giving a feel for the atmosphere there😊👌. Catching that drum skin was just crazy! What are the chances?! Well Rach just said it, one in twenty thousand😱 Pete is very jealous Wills😊🙌. When we saw this pop up, we had no idea how you would put together a vlog of a gig,but you absolutely smashed it, as ever😁. A brilliant watch guys Thanks for all your efforts in sharing this one Have a great week Shell and Pete😊👊👍
Ah thanks guys. The original plan was for him to go to Manchester, but they sold out within seconds! It was only because they put on a 2nd London date that he managed to get tickets. I think that skin made up for having to travel to London for sure. Thanks so much for watching. We’re glad you enjoyed it and that Pete enjoyed the music. We weren’t sure how it was going to turn out, but Wills is a lot more confident than me at talking in public! Cheers and have a great week 🍻
Great video. I went to this. That tube queue was an absolute nightmare 😂 I wondered why Bruce said at the end of the gig ‘have a safe journey home, I hear it may take a while!’ Thanks for the heads up, Brucey 😂 Excellent show and a nice extra memento to watch this!
Thank you so much for watching and the kind words. I genuinely thought I’d be stuck in North Greenwich all night haha. I thought Bruce was referring to the traffic around the tunnel which is why he said they were late on stage due to Dave being stuck in traffic 😂. Thanks again for watching!! 🤘
@@PostcardAndAPint hahaha yes, me too mate, I thought it was a joke about the Davey situation until I saw that queue. And also when he said ‘don’t blame me if you end up in 1982’, I’m still not sure whether that was a joke on the time traveling Davey or about us ending up Caught Somewhere in Time, or both 😂 glad you also enjoyed it and everybody got home safe 👍
As always a VERY well done video"11/10 rach@ wills ",i remember the 2 pubs, also one things i used to do alot was watch heavy metal"got alot free tickets at the music machine, saw these in 79 and enjoyed it,thoo had alot to drink that night.debs xx ps good catch wills 😀 3rd time trying to comment,i even left it in your reply tray.💎 🤗
Ah cheers Debs, we thought you would know those pubs! I hope we brought back some memories of Debs wild past!! Cheers and we both hope you’re enjoying france 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint Back for hubbys treatment,so all plans out the window, was getting motorhome and going around the world in it,but all that has changed so dont know what to do to be honest, just want my husband to get the all clear and then build from that, sorry waffling. debs xx 💎ps tell wills my fav metal band was slaughter and the dogs ,and as his youngster he prob not heard them 😁debs xx
@@debsmostexcellentadventure5353 sorry to hear that, but very glad Phil is getting treatment. I’m sure he’ll be right soon and you guys can drive away into the sunset. Wills knows Slaughter and do you mean The Dogs D’Amour ?
@@PostcardAndAPint no slaughter and the dogs, were with pistols near the start, and i used to have a really good leather jacket, with them painted on the back,i was not a mega fan,but in them days the music machine gave out for some reason alot free heavy metal tickets,or mega cheap, lost count amount bands saw,but ironmaiden was one of them, and again thank you and fingers crossed one day we will do that,as its what we wanted to do again is just travel in our motorhome, wish we never got rid of our first one. sorry waffling debs xx ps when started was more heavy metal than punk and over the years have changed to punk.
Wills takes over London! What a great historical tour. Looks like the O2 has everything on site. Top notch tickets. Great catch Wills!!! Rach you missed a wild time! 🥷 🍻
Great VLOG. Was in London for this as well as the 8th was my birthday. Did the pre-party at the C&H the Thursday prior watching the great IM cover band, Ed Hunters. We closed down the C&H. O2 IM show on the 8th was legendary. Cool to see you caught the drum skin....I was lucky enough to be on the side of the stage (to your left) and caught Nicko's drum stick. I'd post a pic if I could, but it's a great souvenir for a great birthday show. Thanks for helping me re-live it!! IMHO it takes balls to be on the floor......balls I don't have!!! ;-)
Happy birthday and what a way to spend it! Sounds like a brilliant evening at the C&H. Well done on catching the drumstick. Wills is still surprised he got the skin, he’s usually rubbish at frisbee. It was such an incredible gig. Cheers 🍻
Wow, what an epic adventure! It's amazing to see you having such a blast at the Iron Maiden gig and exploring London on your own. Catching the drum skin was an incredible moment! Thanks for taking us along on this journey and sharing this incredible experience with us. Cheers and keep rocking! 🤘
Thanks so much for watching. Catching the skin was incredible, especially as Wills is not the worlds best catcher! It was such a great gig, we’re glad you enjoyed the ride. Cheers 🍻
This is so cool, thank you! I love Maiden. They have been my #1 band since I discovered metal in 1990, as a 13-year-old. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a tour as much as this one. Up the Irons!
Absolutely!! Love Maiden too!!! This tour is definitely up there, I hope they release an official full length video. Thanks so much for watching and for the comment 🍻
I was there too. Same night. And I had seen Steve Harris with his other band (British Lion) earlier this year. On a much smaller venue in Brighton. Great video blog. Congrats!
I was there the Saturday night I'd done Dublin on the 24th June then this night London Saturday and the following Tuesday Amsterdam have one more left I first saw Maiden live on the Fear of the Dark tour and I've seen them live nearly every tour since I'm 50 this is the best I think I've ever seen them live the Set List sound everything is Just Awesome great video Up The Iron's
Thanks so much for watching and leaving this lovely comment. Wow, you’ve travelled a fair bit this last month. They were absolutely brilliant. It sounded great and catching the skin was the icing on the cake. Up the irons indeed. 🤘
Took in the concert @manchester ,not seen them live since NEC in2012 ,however manchester the best I have seen them ,followed since 83 ,,superb show ,All the band top of their game 10/10 Superb video btw ,thoroughly enjoyable 🎸🎸🎸
Cheers for watching. Wills couldn’t get tickets for Manchester. It was only the fact that they put on that 2nd date in London that he managed to get tickets! Cheers 🍻
Thank you for for uploading this video. I love Iron Maiden , Judas Priest , Black Sabbath, all of the Metal bands . I have subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more great videos in the future. Have a great day my friend.
Wow, 13 times is amazing! To see them in London was great and also to visit the Cart and Horses, where it all began was amazing too. What a great gig. Cheers for watching 🍻
Came down from Glasgow for that very gig... was amazing. Really glad Dave Murray was caught in traffic and the show was late to start, as I was too... meant I didn't miss any of the show! London was boiling hot and humid and the Saturday was also very wet but didn't ruin a fantastic show. Production, sound, and the music were all incredible... as usual. Turned out there was an after-party show for the band at the O2, which went on until 4am. I hear Adrian was the last man standing! Nice catch on Nicko's drum skin! UP THE IRONS. \m/ (",) \m/
You came down from Glasgow? Wow! Yeah, it was a top gig, they were as good if not better than any other time I’ve seen them. Glad you didn’t miss any of it!! I bet the after show would have been fun, but to be honest, by that point, I was definitely ready for bed haha, I genuinely thought I’d be stuck in Greenwich all night and not able to get back to my hotel. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment, much appreciated!! Oh yeah, I was very chuffed with the drum skin catch haha. Cheers 🍻
What an awesome weekend for Wills. I've been a fan of rock and metal since my teens, I've never seen Maiden, though. Looked a great gig and what a spot of luck to catch the drum skin. As for having too many T shirts - must be a bloke of our era thing, I have a collection too! The Iron Maiden pub is brilliant. I might have to find that if I'm ever in the area. Great vlog you two.
Ah but do you only wear the same 7? Wills T-shirts are a bone of contention in this house! Maybe it is a bloke of a certain era thing! Anyway, he had a great time and that catch was amazing! Cheers for watching 🍻
Great fun. My wife and I went to Nottingham from Gloucester on the train, then down to Birmingham the next day...a few days later we both tested positive for covid! Miserable, but worth it for Maiden 😛
Do you know we got Wills to do a covid test yesterday as he’d been coughing all week!! Thankfully his was negative - so I think he has a mighty maiden cold! Sounds like you guys had fun - minus the covid!! Cheers 🍻
Hey i was at this show same night thank you for making this video it brought back great memories, im still on a high from the show! amazing you caught the drum head, i feel your pain with the tour programme as i did the exact same thing! that que to get into the station was insane
Hey, thanks for watching and for the comment. Yeah, I was gutted about missing out on the programme, I have one for the last 2 tours, but I believe this one was a fold out poster, which I’m not really bothered about. I’m glad it brought back good memories, it really was a great gig wasn’t it??!!!! Cheers 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint yeah i think your right on the poster thing, the completist fan in me though still wants it ! i have the program for all the tours ive seen that were available since 2011. The show was so so good! really amazing as always . i loved the stuff you got at the Cart & Horses too, i keep meaning to make a journey there myself
Great stuff, me and the wife went to the Birmingham gig brilliant time, also well done on catching that drum skin i nearly caught one on the book of souls tour in Cardiff bloody bugger just lifted over my finger's at the last second
He did a great job! Sadly he’s now got ‘Maiden flu’ - we’ve tested him for covid twice this week and it’s not that, but it’s a huge cold! He had a great time though 🍻
Great vlog format! - It was cool to see someone with a Navajo Nation flag at the end. We're gearing up for our trip to Wacken to see them there in two weeks.
Thank you so much. It was a brilliant day and an amazing gig. The flag sharing at the end was absolutely amazing. Have the best time ever at Wacken - they certainly put on one heck of a show. Cheers 🍻
Woohoo! Absolutely love Maiden! Glad Wills had a good time and after watching your insta and this clip, he's a very lucky boy getting that skin! Just epic! Great to enjoy this travel vlog, appreciate it! Woo! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This video could be subtitled "Wills' Big Day Out!" I agree that the O2 looks like a shopping centre, it could be a Westfields. Well done standing up the whole concert, I've realised I've got to the age where 'down the front, standing the whole time' doesn't appeal that much. It's up in the seated area, sighing passive aggressively if people infront stand up. Why pay for a seat if you're going to stand?! Thankfully generally those people don't have the stamina to stand for hours and eventually sit down! I learnt something too, I had thought that Iron Maiden was an American band (one of my brothers played them on heavy rotation during his teen years, along with Guns and Roses, I'm surprised his hearing is still OK 😬)
We’re glad you enjoyed it, and yes Wills Big Day out would be a great title!! Wills did moan for the next 3 days that his feet hurt, so he’s not the spring chicken he was! We also had to covid test him yesterday, but it was negative so all good. He’s got an iron maiden cold!! Cheers for watching 🍻
WOW! Wills what a treasure to bring home! I agree Rachel I would be very uncomfortable with all the people bouncing around me! The O2 looked Amazing! 2007 Zeppelin reunited and I believe Celebration Day video came from that performance. Looked like a great place to see a show! Great job guys and Wills one of the best jokes to date 😂😂~Cara
For someone who has been hit in the chops by a frisbee more times than I can remember, that was a miss me catch! He did good and had a brilliant time. I’m glad he’s back now (with a cold from mixing with 20K people!!). Cheers for watching 🍻
We were just so happy that they were playing in London…my husband and I saw them last year in Paris for the first time..that too was amazing…so hope they continue to tour over for as many years as physically possible ….they are my favourite metal band of all time…great vlog by the way 👍🖤🤘
Looks like an amazing time had by Wills. I am the same as you Rachel, too many people bouncing around together 😅 Can't believe he caught that Frisbee 😂 that is totally amazing. Ruslan is jealous, he loves Iron Maiden too! Sending hellos from Qatar 🇶🇦 Katy and Ruslan
Hi you two. Cheers for watching. Yep, I’m not one for massive crowds. I can’t believe Wills caught that skin either as he’s rubbish at frisbee! He had a ninja moment! 🤣. I think we’re safe to let him out solo again! Cheers 🍻
Superb vlog, not my cup of tea but I appreciate their obvious talent and it's really quite astonishing that they are still performing 👏. I was very lucky to perform there with Second Skin which had Mark Burgess and John Lever from The Chameleons in it 🤩, we were supporting The Comsat Angels there in 2009. When we were loading the gear out the back I bumped into Gareth Jones (Gaz Top) who was using the access for a wheelchair bound friend. He really made my night, he said, "Jock, is that you?" "Alright mate?, couple of Holywell lads down the smoke!", I replied. He then apologised for missing our part of the show and asked if we were playing any Pillgrim 😊, I was so flattered. He made it even better by saying that he still played our demo of 'God's Allotment '. One of my best nights ever. Like deployed 👍
Wow, that’s amazing!!! I didn’t know you played there, very cool! I’ve met Gaz Jones (Top) a number of times, lovely bloke. He’s good friends with some friends of mine. I remember telling him how much I used to enjoy the BMX programme he used to do in the school holidays when I was a kid. Apparently it was all filmed at the Sands Centre in Carlisle which is where Rach choreographed panto for a number of years. Cheers for watching and the support as always 🤘
That’s coz I is a ninja 🥷😂….oh, and I loved all the Pillgrim stuff too, it was so cool to be able to do that recording with you (even though I wasn’t very good back then 😂…not that I’m much better now 😂😂😂)
"Wait a minute, this sounds like rock and or roll". Reverend Lovejoy (Simpsons I. Ron Butterfly episode) 😂 Far out, that was a good catch! Signed and all. Heckin' amaze balls. The closest I ever came was Keith Richards handing his guitar pick to the bloke next to me (front row middle - how the eff I got that seat still amazes me). Great work getting in to the mosh early. I rarely get there that early these days. I don't think my bladder would last through the support act. 😂 Brilliant stuff Wills!
Cheers Shane. Glad you enjoyed it. Don’t worry Wills complained about his legs and feet for the next 4 days! And for someone who is crap at frisbee, that was one heck of a catch. It’s going to be framed! Cheers for watching 🍻
@@ShaneNixonFamily hey Shane, I would usually always wear ear plugs for a gig, even if it was just for some if it, but I forgot them this day. After only about 4 and a half hours sleep as I had to get back to Wrexham to work with Rach, my ears were ringing for hours. I was genuinely concerned, but they got back to normal after a while. 🤘
@@ShaneNixonFamily he forgot them!! Idiot, as his job is in sound he’s supposed to protect his ears! He said he had ringing until mid morning the next day!
You can't beat live music. Loved following Will on his day. Cool getting some Maiden History. The O2 is a great venue, but to be honest Arena's are my least favourite size of venue. I prefer Stadiums, little places like in Camden or Academy size, or festivals like Download. Although saying that, I saw Disturbed as support for Avenged a few years ago, I think at Wembley Arena and that was amazing!!! Cool you got to the front Wills, I hope you didn't get caught in any pits (unless of course you wanted to!!).
He had a great day. To be honest it’s usually smaller venues for Wills too, but he really wanted to go to this one. He had a brilliant time and I enjoyed watching his day from afar. He now has ‘maiden flu’ - we tested him for covid and it’s not that, but he’s a poorly boy with a streaming cold! Cheers 🍻
Nice vlog and it looks like Wills was standing almost next to me the whole night,I'd been to all the UK gigs and at 62 i must remember next time to get a seat,I'm too old/delicate for all that mosh pitting.
Wills said the same thing the next day, he felt battered!! Lucky you getting to all the gigs. Wills wanted to go to Manchester but couldn’t get a ticket! I think catching the skin made up for it though. Cheers for watching. 🍻
We always upload different versions as we go (but don’t publish) the only tune that got a copyright claim was ‘always look on the bright side of life). I think with the crowd noise and tempo differences, it wasn’t picked up - happy days!
@@PostcardAndAPint thats a very good tip, you just never know what might get a slap and it can be very short, you don’t get enough tools when the video is published to satisfactorily change it!
@@PostcardAndAPint it's funny that he missed out on the program but honestly, this is 100x better! It's signed, there were only a few and he has video evidence of it's authenticity. Those programs......they probably sold 1000's. Be lucky if it's ever worth anything. Probably get one at a thrift store in a few years for 50p.
I forgot to add when you mentioned the Welsh flag....We allow the Scottish to THINK that they are the largest county in England so we like to accommodate the Welsh as well....isn it/look you 😂
Lemmy was awful on vocals. I saw them twice once with Dio opening for Iron Maiden at Madison Square Garden. I will take Maiden every day over Motorhead. Bruce is one of the best Metal singers ever.
