51:54 So, the line from Watchmen was a reference to a poem by an ancient Roman named Horace. The context is that he's giving advice to a man whose wife is cheating on him. The man says he'll place guards, _custodes_ in Latin, outside her door. And Horace's reply is _quis custodiet ipsos custodes_ which means "Who will guard the guards themselves?" It eventually became a phrase in service of calling out unaccountable power, which is why Moore references the English version in _Watchmen_

I wasn't fond of the shoulder pads though. Tony laughs it off in superior but to me it looked a bit too much. Then again my favorite is model 13. (Grew up on that cartoon with the dope ass theme song)

@@Ando1428 Was always a fan of the Extremis armor myself, perfect modernization of what we've gotten for 40 years up to that point, perfect blend of being sleek and slim while still looking like *armor.* (something I feel later suits were guilty of, it was so streamlined it might as well have been spandex)

@@someonewhocommentsonyoutub3779 yeah but I think extremists was too popular. The mcu and marvels avengers (the game) used Tony model 42 look as his model 2. So now almost all of them hold that frame style and look way too similar. Tony had some unique looks added with the fact he's the only character with a functional wardrobe that stayed like that for numerous runs (My second favorite is model 70 Dan slot made a variant that looked pretty badass). Since extremis was so popular they were locked into it and they couldn't approach any of the cooler ideas.

That's cause he had some good stories, but he wasn't presented as cool as the xmen or spiderman were. He still had some noticable popularity in the early days of the 70s and 80s etc.

Eh, that's going to be called Armor Wars but I'm not sure it's going to be closely related. Seems like it will be more like the Death of Tony Stark/War Machine arc of Len Kaminski's Iron Man run which is also a very good thing.

@@joshuaharper1206 well unlike what the MCU has pushed... iron man is a c-list hero lol. He was always a second fiddle character at marvel . Only reason Marvel made the Iron Man movie was because they sold all the movie rights to their biggest heroes when they went bankrupt in the 90s... they only had scraps that nobody wanted, besides maybe Captain America, but they already tried making a movie of that in the 90s that failed, so they weren’t gonna start their whole movie universe with that. Amazing still how they made the MCU so big with their “B and C-listers”. To answer the question then... most good writers don’t stay on iron man very long... or he gets shitty writers. Nobody really wants to stay on iron man long(well maybe Dan Slott, but he’s already off the book and it was dog shit lol).

I’m a comic newbie and a huge Iron Man fan, and since I discovered this show I’ve been waiting for you to talk about Armor Wars! I’d forgotten how bonkers this story is (in the best possible ways). 😆 Thanks for this one; it’s definitely one of my favorites! There is so much I’ve discovered in the comics in the short time I’ve been reading them that I really wish they’d have done in the movies, but what’re you gonna do...😔

Can you imagine if Iron Man had a clone saga in 2020 and there would be a new retcon story coming out that said: "Remember all those times Tony said Iron Man was his bodyguard but we all know that was a lie, well you see, ACTUALLY...Randall Pierce is real and he's here and he wants revenge!" I actually hope someone at Marvel sees this and actually does it.

I genuinely feel like the main obstacle between Iron man and more popularity is Tony Stark. I've never wanted to like a character but been unable to like I have with Tony. It has obvious problems but I found even Infamous Iron Man way more interesting than anything Tony has done other than give Peter Parker a cool suit and die. He's super rich and affluent so I would assume he has some inner conflict but I have no idea what that is.

I started to collect Iron Man during the Force arc and Armor Wars. I havent read it in many years but its really funny to hear it told as an adult. Fooling Nick Fury with the old "what is this"? is too funny. Also the epilogue issue is amazing due to the BWS arc.

So... When Tony later reveals he is and always has been Iron Man, does anyone bring up "Hey what about that time you seemingly went insane and hunted all the Suit Wearing Villains, Heroes, and even invaded enemy nations, killing Several People and breaking Several Laws?" Or not even that, what about his Avenger Teammates that already knew he was Iron Man? Did he then go and explain to them what he was doing and why?

Jessica Alba was in the 90's version of the television show Flipper. Also, the modular armor appeared in the 90's and was even the main suit during season 2 of the 90's animated series.

Technically, there are no official plans for Iron Man 4 but there are two MCU characters who could make it happen. The MCU's Armor Wars project was first announced in 2020 and was initially planned as a TV series.

The first thing I saw Jessica Alba in (which predates Fantastic Four and Dark Angel) was Idle Hands, which also had Seth Green, Vivica A. Fox, and that kid from The Mighty Ducks and who would also get cast as Foggy Nelson on Netflix's Daredevil.

I am really hoping the upcoming _Armor Wars_ Disney+ series will be awesome. Sure, MCU Tony Stark is dead... but the story could easily work with Rhodes/ *War Machine* in the lead, taking out people that are using Tony's tech. Also, side note: In the MCU, Rhodie should just become the new Iron Man, right? Like... Keep the bulkiness of his War Machine Armor, and FOR SURE keep the shoulder mounted mini gun... But put some red paint on the suit, keep the silver, no gold needed- both as a cool homage to the Silver Centurion look AND as a very easy way to make him visually different from the Tony Stark Iron Man.... I'm not crazy, right? In a world where Sam Wilson is Captain America, Jane Foster is Thor, and God knows who the new Black Panther is(please, please let it be Eric Killmonger!)- I want to see James Rhodes take on the mantle of Iron Man.

Even if your men know what they're signing up for, I can't risk of anymore bodies on my conscience." Could've still had Fury hand wave it or it could give Tony what he was after. The more iron man stories they do, 1. The more I am amazed and have to give massive props to Feige and everyone in the MCU for making this character not suck. And 2. That Iron man armored adventures did all the stories they talk about much better
