You should either make your handle a little shorter or build some kind of gearing system to increase the airflow.

You could Do a water-weel from ur bamboo- aqueduc to motorize your spinning blower and save you Time actualy spinning it by hands
@rynecjohnston

That's a brilliant idea. Hugo, you are a resourceful one.

Great idea
@Oduunich
@Oduunich 6 лет назад
While this is a good idea, his water is on the other side of his house. Maybe at some point if he builds a new building on the other side of his house just for his heavy works. That would allow him to include the water in the building design for a cooling tub as well as water power for simple machines like the blower or if he makes a mill to separate the rice from the plant.
@Oduunich
@Oduunich 6 лет назад
and I say cooling tub instead of slack tub for a reason. Slack tubs are a blacksmithing term for tubs filled with a liquid (not always water) for cooling metals during the annealing process. He could also use the flowing water in a tub or small section to cool off other things, such as if he had from fruit juice or teas he wanted cooler than air temp.
@rynecjohnston
@rynecjohnston 6 лет назад
Oduunich, his aqueduct is maneuverable. We've seen him use a few lengths of split bamboo redirect the flow in a number of previous episodes. But you are right that harnessing water power will open up a whole lot of possibilities, including your great idea of a rice mill.

It would be much more effective,if you use a bow and/or a string to move the turbine.Because if you use it this way,it will be exhausting and slow.

Easy to solve. Add gear and a stone to use centrifuge force.

As "Primitive Technology" did in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZEl-Y1NvBVI.html, you can keep spinning with the weight of the stone. And if you use primitive gears like in this photo: image.slidesharecdn.com/pptofgears-130203045911-phpapp02/95/types-of-gears-3-638.jpg?cb=1386127509
@roymaga
@roymaga 6 лет назад
You can then save energy on the spinning and just push to add speed to the wheel. The gears are called multiplication gears. And a big one spins slow, while it makes a small one spin a lot faster.

I like how all of the primitive channels are trying to break into the iron age. Even How to make Everything
@jaimefinat956
@jaimefinat956 6 лет назад
Don't you forget the iron in nature is oxidated. Therefore, you will need to add charcoal (carbon) to get purer iron: FeO2 + C + heat = Fe + CO2 Have that in mind, charcoal is not only to heat the iron to melt it but to get purer metal pieces ;-) I would recommend you to smash both ore and charcoal into dust to maximize the reaction. Better luck this time!
@roymaga
@roymaga 6 лет назад
he already has charcoal in a prior video!

If you put a weight (ball of clay) on that rotor's axel, you would increase its inertia. It would be way more efficient.
@hobomnky
@hobomnky 6 лет назад
if he is going to add a flywheel, as you mentioned, then he should change the handle because he cant spin that handle fast enough for a flywheel to be useful.
@stevendegonia
@stevendegonia 6 лет назад
I suggest you make 2 wooden pulleys, 1 at 10 cm, and 1 at 30 cm, place the 10 cm on fan shaft and place the crank handle on the 30 cm, connect with vine/string and achieve greater fan speed for blower output. This can also be powered by a water wheel. Reposition the blower output tube so it is offset to the top or bottom as the air movement will skate over the tube reducing the airflow if in the center. Rebuild your forge with the reinforced clay mud and thicken the walls a little. Grind the ore and charcoal into powder and mix together to reach a purer iron content. Keep up your efforts and you will reach your goal!

@WallHaxxx

Good job! Great to see you listen to comments. I think your blower is pretty good. I would say make the handle closer to the shaft to increase speed, and maybe make the air inlet a little bigger. I don't think all the other suggestions in the comments are needed. Making the output pipe a tapered cone might also be a good idea.

The gear ratio is wrong. The crank must be smaller than the fan to get it up in speed. Make some kind of system with a string around the shaft that you can pull.
@musashimyamoto9168
@musashimyamoto9168 6 лет назад
Nope! If you want high speeds on the second weel the first one has to be larger
@TheVictorFV
@TheVictorFV 6 лет назад
WTF, what do you mean "nope", are u stupid? You cant simply imagine how that sistem would work? Lever must be smaller, that simple mechanics:/
@musashimyamoto9168
@musashimyamoto9168 6 лет назад
FATEY in order to get a high weel speed the first weel has to be larger. Thats how every single hand drill works Regarding the >cant you imagien how a "sistem" works Yes i can if the first weel is larger and the second is smaller you can get way more rotations on the second weel with just one rotation on the big one. Lets assume the ratio is 1 to 5. With one rotation of the big weel the small one has already rotatet 5 times. Thats just common sense if the ratio was the other way around you have to spin the weel like crazy to get just one rotation which is counterproductive....
@TheVictorFV
@TheVictorFV 6 лет назад
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circular_motion read this fcn shit attentively
@TheBlackBeltPanda
@TheBlackBeltPanda 6 лет назад
Musashi, the problem is, there's no gearing in this system. The ratio is 1:1 so the larger the handle, the slower the rotations are going to be.

Use an air water mix (like water faucet aerators) and a water seperator. This was done in Asia and Europe in the early industrial days. That river/aquaduct should work nicely. Also the water makes an automatic seal.

Better eat some beans because they will make more wind than this. Maybe you should try some bellows first?
@death666311

if you run out of things to do while you wait for other projects, then you could either smooth out some better paths to save on movement speed or build a water wheel feature... of course you should work on practical first, but you never know when you just need a spot to sit down and relax...

You should have added some weight to the elise, it would be more efficient since you are planning to turn from that position, you should have made a conical outlet of air as much as the elise. I do not think this will work well. Otherwise I want to commend you, only your channel and channel primitive technology (australian) are great, continue as you did so far, thank you for great videos.

Dual Twine system instead of a crank might be faster? I saw the comment on using the aqueduct which makes more sense by takes another paddle, and water displacement unless you have long rope/twine to give it some distance. I think the bow/string/twine method would be a simpler use, though I do like you went the extra mile.

Anyone else start laughing when he put the hand-crank on there? No way any normal person can spin that fast enough. (Needs either a bow drill type setup, or some kind of pulley system with a big wheel turning the small one.) Although I still think an air-pump type system could also be made from clay. (Quite possible to make tubing just like you make pottery.) That would ensure that it resists any heat.

I don't think that this architecture of blower is economic... Btw if fan is spinning one way, I would mount output pipe in such way that the air is blown with maximum momentum - not on the middle height. Make the chassis look like snail - shell gets incrementally wider and in the widest point is the outlet. It should increase performance. Also check if enlarged inlet would do better. The crank is IMO bad idea - You have to spin faster with ease, not to have big torque :P Regards, Horochov
