I just used a 30-30 lever action to kill my biggest deer ever, it was my dads gun he got when he was 13 for Christmas. That type of gun will always have a special place in my heart
Nice to see a 30-30 getting some love. It's a good ole hunting cartridge, and I use it almost exclusively in an old iron sight Winchester model 1894. It's a pretty good all around cartridge too, there was a man named Townsend Whelen who used it to hunt moose and grizzly bears.
The nostalgia is kicking in on this one, dropped two 150+ pound pigs charging at me with my dad’s 30-30 several years ago, never underestimate that round 🤘
I got an idea, flair should do a cowboy hunting challenge for deer, rabbits and squirrels using the 30-30 and the 22 mag lever action rifle. Then he should have a big feast at his house.
It's not a "firing pin" it's a primer.... and it's virtually impossible to set off a chain fire with modern rounds. Stop listening to people on RU-vid who don't know what the hell they are taking about or what they are doing.

@@icu_corey_rn_903 I wanna see flair shoot a raccoon with the 30-30 at night, I wonder what kind of damage it will do compared to a 22 mag lever action rifle.
On the iron sights you can lift the rear sight and there's a slide with steps you can adjust it up and down. Need to make sure you keep the sights level and lift or raise your grip to adjust the angle of the sights. Could be just how you're holding the gun
I've been waiting for this vid ever since the auction video on uncut where you bought this gun, 30-30 I'd by far one of my favorite calibers especially in this gun. For future reference if you ever decide to take it out again, those guns use a elevator for the rear sight where each notch is roughly 50 yard increments, elevator all the way forward is 50 and it goes up from there, hope this helps
My first deer was taken with a late 90's Winchester 94 30-30. I got into the woods about 7-8am, parked in the parking lot of my buddy's farm, I was after a doe because I knew that there was a herd of large ones, but I still had my buck tag unfilled that year. I crept up the hill on the way to the stand, and just before the crest of the hill, I spot an 8 point across the gully from me. I took aim through the scope offhand, in between the treeline and grape vines, shaking all the while, calmed myself down, pulled the trigger, nothing, the trigger wouldn't move, the hammer wouldn't fall. I checked the gun, racked the lever, it was slightly out of battery somehow. Fixed it, took aim, shot and missed, the buck looked at me, and I took the second shot and he dropped like a sack of potatoes right there, barely moved from the spot he was in. I was lucky, the wind was just right, I was just quiet enough, and hidden by the brush, and I use cover scent. And the buck was busy feeding. It was about a 50 yard shot and very lucky at that. It was perfect for a first deer. I just wish I didn't waste a shot in the heart when he was bleeding out, kicking and crying a little. I just didn't want it to suffer. Dragging it out though sucked, but it was worth it. He was a nice size too, big guy, 8 points, nice rack. I kept the antlers and still have some of the meat over a year later. This year, I hit a spike buck with my truck, and got plenty of good meat from that too and a better car, but miss the truck.
The front sight can only be adjusted left and right. I recommend tapping it very lightly with a mallet. The rear site should be adjustable up and down. You have to pull the v up and there should be a little thing underneath it that slides
The old 30-30 is the king of the North woods. Up close and personal deer hunting. The leverution round makes it a good 150 Yard round but with the old school flat point you are a hundred yard round. It has the same power as your ak round The 7.62x39. great video. Definitely like all the content.
@@cashk100 BTW I wanted to know if it would be cool if Flair went black bear hunting with the 30-30 in Wisconsin. Maybe shoot some raccoons with the 22 mag lever action rifle while over there. Also Wisconsin is a good deer hunting state.
I hunted this whole season and got some bucks in the iron sights. This gun is amazing, light, easy, and light recoil. It was my stepdads fathers and my stepdad let me use it for the season, I’m very thankful. The ol 1894 Winchester 3030👍🏼
I plan on dropping my first deer with my grandpas 30-30 winchester I love these guns theres just something about pushing that lever open and seeing the empty cartridge fling out that just makes me feel different
Here in Arkansas the 30-30 is the gun to shoot, but it's thick here so mostly close shoots! Love the video, it's cool getting to watch Brooklyn as she gets bigger....I have 4 daughter's so completely understand!
Same here in Alabama, 50 yards is the average shot for the same reasons, THICC BRUSH... lol happy hunting, stay safe out there and wear your safety harness
Flair, you're very talented one handed, where'd you learn the skill😳 It's a good think you practiced, you got it figured out great!🔫 Jake, damn, you're good with the iron sight!😲 I thought for sure sure was going to blow! I've never seen them drop like that, what a great shot Flair. You really get to see how fast she dropped on Uncut🦌 Hey! This Mamaw makes darn good spaghetti, my sauce is from scratch. Mixed with your recipe, we'd make billion dollar spaghetti.🍝 Why on earth were people going crazy because Macy broke the spaghetti noodles!?! That's how I've always done it.🤷🏻♀️ All you need to go with it is some cheesy garlic bread, they go hamd in hand.🧀
I am 47 y/o and been hunting in north florida and south Alabama since i was 12 y/o and ever deer i have 3ver taken is with my model 94 winchester 30-30. I love the gun so much i now own 10 of them from over 100 years ago till the early 2000's. Love the gun and the history of the gun.
That 30-30 is slick I can’t believe how it dropped that doe! Those old western rifles are cool. The top one on my list is a mares leg. The spaghetti looks amazing thank you for the recipe!
This cowgirl hunts with a 30/30 have been since I was 8. And still do at 57.. because my granddaddy said so!! He would just have a fit at these guns today.. trust you will feel a whole level of excitement!!
Generally you can move the rear sight up or down to help with high/low shots. could try moving that rear sight up one notch to help push the barrel down.
a 30-30 Marlin lever action is a better choice for mounting a scope as it has side ejection rather than top ejection like the Winchester but that's just my opinion
Not surprised she dropped from a double lung at that range. My 350 legend, which is ballistically very similar to 30-30, sits them right down like that from a double lung hit as well.
Flair your awsome to watch my 12 year old son loves watching you I really appreciate you having a positive effect on him!!!! If you would mention him in your next video it would make his day name is Colby thanks alot man!!!!!
I just used a 43 yr old marlin 336, 30-30 to fill my doe tag here in Ontario Canada. Normally I hunt a shotgun/muzzleloader district so it was cool to use a classic rifle that was a dream to carry through the thick bush and swamps we hunt here. Cheers from Canada eh 🍻🇨🇦🤘
