Making the difficult decision about which of my lever guns would be the last to give up. Tough choice to make with all these wonderful Winchesters, Marlins, etc.
Remember, value, rarity, ammo expense, beauty, history, etc. are not part of the criteria in these videos. It's just what do I think would be the best all-around choice for all the types of shooting I might WANT to do or NEED to do now and in the future.

I wonder how many gun safes Hickok has. I mean, hell, just those leaver actions on the table will fill a good sized safe! Then all his other guns? He must have a room the size of my den full of gun safes, and then he has to store his reloading stuff and extra ammunition for all those guns.

I totally understand the love of old and newer lever action rifles. I’m agnostic to a point to the brands I own, but Henry has the sweetest spot. Like other collectors, Hickok45 is a must when I am reviewing newer or older firearms. The reviews are concisely presented and my dream is to own a piece of property to setup a shooting gallery like this gentleman. China take note, because there are more than 400 million private 2nd amendment firearms in this country, and this doesn’t count our military. Keep up this great channel, and in this world of cancellations I pray for your continued presence.

I would do it by calliber. What s the easiest caliber to get vs. most useful. I would take a Winchester 92 in .44 rem mag. Or any quality lever action in that caliber. If I was going by coolness I would keep the original 1886 or the Henry. Hell I don't think I could make the decision. I would keep them all. They all have a porpoise.

I used to watch all those old spagehtti westerns and fell in love with the lever action rifles and colt single actions, navys, etc etc. So much so i picked up a Uberti remake of the modle 1873 and oh man. Very nice firearm ill probably give it to my kids when i have them hahaha. But 45 colt is expensive so they might just inherit the rifle LOL!

At the moment I only own 43 guns and theres no way I will ever sell any of them I'm always looking for another one.i like big bore guns and 22 for plinking out back of the house. . ....my favorite gun of them all is a Marlin 35 caliber lever action I think it's around 1952 just an all-around beautiful the next one would be a spikes built here in Apopka 223 AR 15 with a nice trigger about 2 or 3 lb pull and a chrome-lined Barrel it's a all around good shooter.. and I have Remington 300 Magnum and a few shotguns. And 8 diffrent pistols that range from 1787 80 caliber deck gun designed to clear a deck. Of a ship. To a 50 caliber Desert Eagle just a hodgepodge different calibers of guns chosen throughout the years.

"frankbeck-st6fm," "My favorite gun of them all is a Marlin 35 caliber lever action I think it's around 1952 just all-around beautiful". That would be the Marlin 336. Congratulations! Since this thread is devoted to lever guns, that single sentence of yours is spot on perfect. EVERYTHING else doesn't pertain to hickok45's topic. Furthermore, it comes off sounding like you're bragging. Not a single 'thumbs up' in 5 months' time is a clue.

For where I live, what I hunt and needs of security, the last lever I would give up would be a 44 mag or 357 mag. I could keep a favorite revolver for the same ammo, with versatility of two cartridges each and feel like I have all the bases covered. Plus I reload for both. A purely practical answer, as I'm not getting rid of my levers!
@theZombieAdrift
@theZombieAdrift 2 года назад
Bingo, that was my thoughts as well. Guide gun length lever, and a roughly revolver chambered in the same, probably 44 mag for me for the extra spice - versatility unmatched imo - SHTF setup, hunting, defense, ammo availability and size/weight - only thing I'd consider otherwise might be a straight up guide gun, just because I love me some. 45-70 gov

@@Albatross0913 yeah they are outdated but they are just beutiful like you said. I just love old weapons or atleast old modells. But i trust my leaver action 100% nonetheless. But i mean i buy most of my gund just because i like them and i don't care if they are outdated, they need to look greate, shoot greate and feel greate. But if i would need to choose a gun for selfdefence for example i would probably choose a more modern gun but i mean they do their job so if you like them and want one not only to shoot on the range you can be sure it is not neccesarely a bad choise.
@Albatross0913
@Albatross0913 Год назад
@@kuessebrama what matters for self-defense doesnt depend so much on what hun you're using as it does on how familiar you are with it. If you spend your time training with a .357 lever action and dont know your way around an AR-15 the lever action is going to be a much better choice for you. It's all about how well you've trained with your weapon of choice. I personally have a .357 SA for my home defense and I know my way around that gun than I do my sister's S&W for example. Self-defense is all about training.

Absolutely! More movies should be named for firearms. Dirty Harry should've been named Smith & Wesson Model 29. Because we all know who the real star of that movie was!

I’ve got one of those Henry 1860 remakes in 45LC and that thing is so smooth and accurate. Also I appreciate that Hickok didn’t edit out his mistake about loading the wrong ammo. Goes to show no matter how skilled you are it’s still easy to make a mistake.

That's the first thing I thought when he introduced the rifles, I thought 'I would never do this, I would mix up the ammo'.

I enjoyed that! If I were to do a "Last Lever Gun" it would be a short video. I only have ONE, but it's one of my favorite guns of any type. A Henry Golden Boy. Still want to see you do a "Last .22" I'd ever sell. Would like it to include rifles, revolvers and pistols.

Love that sound, it's such a distinctive sound that any criminal breaking into your house would turn and run out the door after hearing it. Beautiful rifles sir, great video and content as usual.

"randyjon224," Just like hunting -- for serious, INSTANTANEOUS home protection you've already levered a round into the chamber and gently lowered the hammer into half cock or all the way down and applied the crossbolt safety or tang safety into 'safe' setting (depending on century your reliable lever action was manufactured or year's model it was designed after re safety feature(s). The sound of expediently pulling back the hammer may very well be so quiet it may NOT be the second to the last sound the felon [ever] hears. For as long as sound movies have been made, 1927 -- , directors consistently and mindlessly film the 'hero' or the 'bad guy' cock their carbine's / rifle's lever before shooting, which is preposterous in most potential life-and-death situations [or hunting scenarios] where 'readiness' and common sense prevails. Thank you, hickok45.

I knew it ! I have one and it is an awesome lever gun. I also have a few other lever guns, but that ones the best. As far as 45Colt cartridge goes, I agree with you all the way. Loaded hot or cold they can do what you need them to do.

I have a JM Marlin 1894c in 357. Hands down, my favorite rifle. It's sporting a set of Skinner sights on it. The gun's a lot of fun and more accurate than I am.

Couldn't go wrong with any of those. I'm partial to 357 myself. Always impressed with how fast those little guys get to the target. I'll bet you've put more rounds through that 45 than all the others put together. Or, maybe I've just watched those videos more so it seems like it.

If I had to pick one model it would be for the combination of history, handling, versatility, caliber selection, and physical beauty. John Browning's elegant design, the scaled down 1886... the Winchester model 1892 : )

One other good point to your choice of the 45 colt Marlin is the ammo interchangeability with your Colt Single Action Army pistol you can pair up with the Marlin. Overall, each rifle was a great rifle and I know that choice had to be difficult as it would have been for myself. Thank's again for a great topic and video.
