Looked it maybe, but it was a busy place where you could get everything you wanted there. Always makes me chuckle though, they whinge about the floods every year as "climate change", yet the river flooded there for hundreds of years before cars and plane. There used to be a plaque on the wall of the old shop at Dale End, saying "in 1908 a flood reached the top of this plate". A shame it was demolished and this plate removed. I can tell you it has NEVER got near that since, despite all the flood measures forcing the river level higher
