the younger human male on the left looks like he' s a #2 CoC / 10 reps kind of guy. Strong, but not that strong. I'd say the human male on the right looks like he could barely close a CoC #1.5, maybe do a few reps.

Years ago when I was in my late 20's I could close the No. 3. That took about a year of consistent grip training. Life happened I stopped training and lost most of it. I can still close the No.1 with little effort and just bought a new No.2 with the goal of developing AND MAINTAINING the strength to close a No. 2. That gents is a good goal for anyone of us. The No. 2 is no joke

Have also been training for a year now with grippers and can only handle a heavy no. 2 and have a few mm left on 2.5! Completing a No. 3 in one year is an incredible achievement and most people never get there no matter how hard they train.

started with the guide for rehab on my left hand... I've done karate for about ~14 years now, but have always had a crappy grip... started working with sticks in filippino stick fighting about a year and half ago and NEEDED to improve my grip strength... worked with the 60 lb for about 2 months while having it in the car and occassionally (few times a week) worked through max reps and have seen dramatic improvement in flexibilty and strength... cannot recommend these enough!!! ^_^

That's where I'm at right now. I'm undecided whether I have actually closed my #1 or not. From what I've read of people testing the actual resistance, the 1.5 is slightly closer to the 1 than it is to the 2, so maybe I'll manage that before my old age limits me.

I'm pretty experienced in grip training (for Armwrestling) but it's been a while because of Covid-19. Just got my set which includes the Trainer, #1 & #2. Shipping was fast and customer service was excellent! The Trainer is a fantastic warm-up grip! I was able to get 10-12 legitimate reps off the #1 but it was harder than I thought it'd be. I closed the #2 all the way two times but couldn't get another full rep. Granted, my forearms were FRIED from using the first grips. I know it'll be a while before I need to get the #3. But these are AMAZING & beautiful grippers!! Quality is unmatched and it's a MUST for anyone serious about grip strength!
@razeitall
@razeitall Год назад
I would be careful going above 12 per set. I really think it's counter productive. Just stop after 10 and rest, then do another set. I went for 20 on the number one with my right hand. I'll never do that again lol. The muscles and tendons in your elbow wrist and hand are small, much easier to strain them than your biceps.

Having a tough grip could be useful for when an attacker gets you in a headlock or something and you can simply crush their forearm so that they have to let go from whence point, you may administer further bodily damage.

I can close a 2.5 and best on a 3 is about 1/2" gap. I keep a full set at work, including GHP grippers and Warren Tetting grippers to completely bridge the gaps, they are very fun to train with. Rob Vaillancourt that many reps will do little to help your grip. 285 reps a day is astronomically well beyond effective or intelligent. Use a gripper that challenges you to do 5 sets of 5-7 reps, 2-3 times a week instead

Does training exclusively with Vise/Ivanko adjustable grippers translate over to CoC grippers? Say if someone can mash the Vise on a setting which is equivalent to a CoC 3 then how long would it take him to actually be able to close the number 3?
@IronMindVideos
@IronMindVideos 2 года назад
dGp: We have never heard of anyone training exclusively on an adjustable gripper and then successfully closing a Captains of Crush No. 3 gripper, but that’s not to say it cannot be done. Gripper ratings are far more complicated than most people can imagine, so what seems to be a simple matter of comparing one poundage rating to another is almost never the case, and most often creates a false sense of certainty. Back to earth: train as hard as you can on whatever gripper you have!

@@Nick-cp8wf but his first gripper was 1.5. considering that, its too long. I've never seen anyone close even a #1 on their first try in person even with a small set. #1.5 on first try is strong
@Nick-cp8wf
@Nick-cp8wf 3 года назад
@@Carbondioxidinashvilli Yea, the 1.5s come in pretty stiff. Very hard for a newcomer. So is the 1. A lot of people do exaggerate when claiming their first gripper close. Even a day of getting accustomed to the feel and basic technique can help a great deal vs ones actual first attempt with grippers. Coincidentally the 1.5 was my first gripper. I have already had experience powerlifting. Strong. 400lb max bencher years ago. I did close the 1.5 and it was a max effort. Very hard. Took me around 1.5 mnths to close the 2.5 which i thought was insanely hard when i first grabbed it. 2.5 is stilla stout gripper. They are coming in stiff nowadays as i have gotten 3 in the 130s. Hardest one at 135.

How’s everyone’s progress? I’m 5’9, 68kg and started with the T. It used to tire me at rep 6-7, but now I can close #1 5 times for 3 sets, aiming to get 10 times for 3 sets before I move onto 1.5. Hoping to have settled on 1.5 by end of 2019.

Im 5'4 at 120 lbs (54 kg). I'm currently at above a #2 but below a 2.5. I've closed a gripper with an RGC of 118 a few times. I hope I'll make it easy soon.

Is there a difference between GHP 6 and CoC #2,5 ? Which one is the easiest between the two? I need to know since I'm probably gonna get GHP 6 before CoC #2,5. But I'm not sure. I'm confused about which is harder.
@Anemptybox
@Anemptybox 6 лет назад
The GHP 6 is generally a bit more difficult to close, but since gripper can vary you can't be sure. Some GHP 6 are easier than some CoC 2.5. Look up RGC gripper ratings.

Is there any way these aren't quite as tight after years of use + leaving them in the car under the hot sun? I find it odd that so many co-workers can come close to closing my #1, but years ago when I tried, no one was even able to close the trainer. One of my co-workers closed the #1 on his first try, and three others were able to do it on their second attempt.

I’ve noticed this more with heavy grips, I have found that despite my CoC 1.5 and 2 being heavily used over the years even serious lifters usually cannot close them. A few people can maybe close the 1 once or twice. If someone can close a number 2 first time they probably have been training their grip extensively in other ways.

This is for Iron Mind, has anybody ever stated that the left hand is harder because of the direction the coils are wound? I’ve noticed my gripper fits naturally in my right hand and the pull is straight back, but in my left hand has a bind. Do you think a left and right hand gripper would be good? I’m interested to know if anybody else has seen this issue.
@Nick-cp8wf
@Nick-cp8wf 5 лет назад
They make left turn grippers. I'm left handed and just ordered my first one. Based on the minimal research I have found about it, the grippers are a little harder in the left hand. From what I've read around .25 level harder.

@firnameweren5311
@firnameweren5311 4 года назад
Adjustable grippers are very inaccurate in the pounds of pressure you are really doing. Having a set spring that is rated at one number is far more accurate and consistent. I used to use an adjustable one before buying these and the adjustable one is such a joke now.
