As much as I hate "the Theater kid" Matpat not calling Gangle's design based from Comedy and Tragedy and the identical red ribbon often seen accompanying the pair of masks associated with THEATRE.... ... Sigh... In the GlitchX event show thingie... They had an Interview with Gooseworx and Michael, In which Popee the performer was actually one of them "sources" of inspiration..... actually... They had a page of inspirations and the "Popee the performer" migth've been one of the ONLY inspirations shown that Matpat "technically gets"... I don't think anything else that he calls out shows up in the collage.... Though.. "Popee" for specifically Jax or Gangle, or both, I dont know if that was specified.... Goose's design for the digital circus in general was "webcore" as she described it, and I think the first thing called out by the Glitch hosts as they mentioned having the inspirations on screen was "Pop the Performer" (seemed incompletely said or shortened) Klasky Csupo, Gumby, etc - you can definitely see some of the Character's inspirational things, like a toy set that looks like Zooble.... Anyway... yeah I thought and was nearly going to say the same kinda thing on The actual Theory vid back when it came out but stewed on it until the GlitchX live and subsequent Vod (On youtube), where Popee was one of the inspirations and then I was like "Wow I can't believe... That feels so obscure! did Matpat reach out to Gooseworx? How was that one of the first things that came to "Theater kid" Matpat's mind?"

While I do get your point, Gooseworks (the creator) has said none of them have confirmed genders, they just present a certain way. :) Example: Jax calling her "fella" when adresssing her and Kinger, then saying "Ladies first" at the escalator and immediately pushing him to the side😂

I like the theory that they’re digital copies and not real people. It’s like the game Soma. Pomni lost the coin flip. The fact that they don’t need to eat or sleep also supports that idea.
The fact that they don't need to eat, drink, or sleep also supports the theory that they were all physically transported into the digital world, similar to the second Jumanji movie, rather than having their consciousnesses copied. So their bodies and minds now work according to the rules of that world.
It could be either that or a Tron/Jumanji situation, we don't have much evidence either way I think. At least your theory would make more sense here than it did in Soma, which ruined the metafiction by actually applying the coin toss, which is just a metaphor(!), to the choice of which clone does the player control after each copy, at odds with any interpretation of the actual fiction. I hope Digital Circus doesn't make the same mistake if they ever go the clone-ception route, which I doubt.
One thing to note, nobody "loses the coin flip" in Soma. They don't actually transfer the mind, merely create 2 copies of it. The one sent to the endpoint thinks it was transferred while the one that stays behind in the original form thinks it didn't.
My only issue with the theory that Pomni is a developer is that Kinger had been there for years before any of the other characters were. This says to me that Kinger might be a dev, but the rest are beta players or something similar.
I saw the Amazing Digital Circus before the vshojo VR collab.. and then I saw Kuro dancing Gangnam Style as Pomni and I can't look at her the same way again.
For me it was the other way I was trying to figure out where the model kuro was using came from. When I found it I was like "Okay I am only going to watch the first five minutes of this" and well I sat there and watched the whole thing.

It’s because a character we’ve come to sympathize with is trapped in a situation with no conceivable way out, and her only choice for the moment is to play along with the madness. Many of us have been in a similar situation. It also cements it that it is at dinner, bringing to mind many times at dinner where something disagreeable has happened (like relatives trying to start a political feud at Thanksgiving) and our only option was to sit and eat and ignore the unpleasantness.
Matpat broke Mousies brian at the end there. The third matpat theory actually works since they don't need to sleep. Even with artificial input your brain would still need sleep.
I'm surprised Matpat missed what seemed to be a reference or two to the 1960's sci-fi The Prisoner. I guess he never caught reruns of that when they came out? (That show is a trip at times.) There may be a similar storyline there as well.
The Matpat theories: 1: the game could have been made in the 90s, that doesn't mean the current story takes place in the 90s. 2: One would assume everyone that got trapped in the game worked at the same company and for whatever reason had put on that headset. 3: Original or copies its still the same trapped environment and trying not to go crazy; but the copies version though removes the "need to escape" and could either add a "accept yourself as a new entity and take advantage of that, released from your expectations and maybe help hack the system as a result* or cause a deeper existential dread over the concept of self realizing nothing about you before being there was real and THIS is what you are.
I have the theory that the perfomers represent different personality disorders. Anxiety(pomni), fear(kingler), selfishness(jax), anger(kaufmo), etc. What if the headset was a technology that was supposed to help cure ppl of their debilitating personality disorders. Strap it on and instantly feel relief from your crippling issue. BUT what if the tech takes those negative aspects of your mind away and dumps them into the circus? That's why they have no memory. Also, it would lend itself to making the existential horror even worse because even with a route back to the real world, they've nowhere to go. 😱🙂 Interesting things I've spotted. * Before the introduction song Caine mentioned "paraphernalia" that "we" would be seeing. That implies objects/items/things and yet what we end up watching is the trapped performers... * When Caines watch detected a player in the Void, he said "oh no, they'll be *spoiled*". That's a word used for perishable goods/food/products..... * When Jax said "she still thinks it's a dream", he was not talking to Ragatha. He was breaking the forth wall and talking to us.... * The adventures aren't dangerous, but Kaufmo's abstracted form was as Zoobles fate barely bothered them but Kaufmo's was seen as a real danger. Re- Jax's reaction to the adventure compared to Kaufmo. *Caine isnt all-seeing because he had no idea what was going on to his circus or players, even abstraction, until Pomni entered the void. Then he still didnt know himself, his wacky watch alarm had to alert him. *Caine barely knows anything about the real world.... " *Drown* in the digital Lake,..... *ridery* at the digital fair" hint at that. If that's so how did he know what offices in the real world looks like? Maybe through the cameras in the place where the headset and computer are sitting? That also explains why the exit maze has "A" computer office room but is not "THE" computer office room. I dont think they are the same because Caine's had no windows or natural light but the one we come out of at the end has natural light streaming across the wall. * Other than the final corridor connected to the void the Exit Maze was totally stable, until Pomni's extreme reaction to the computer and headset started causing the lights to flicker on and off.... why then? 🤔 Thoughts on "sad and weak" Gangle. With Gangle's masks. They both look fragile, and the comedy mask did break after a small drop.( in a little extra from Gooseworx, we see Gangle looking in a mirror with broken comedy masks all over the walls.) But when she was dragged into the Gloink hole her sad mask smashed into the ground, hard, but didn't even get a blemish on it. That implies that her "smile" is so very thin yes.... but that her core, and yes sad, self is a lot tougher than she looks. 🤔..😥💪...🤔 Ok that's some of the stuff ive picked up on. Could it be meaningful or could mean nothing 😅
What's interesting enough is that didn't kinger said to zoobal "you didn't experience a game show in there did you?" And Zoobal was confused on what he meant by that It could be a hint because people wouldn't think of it as a joke So clearly Kinger is referencing something in this animated series
@drackflame951 others have said the game show after being swallowed thing is a running gag from other animated shows that either the VA or the makers of the show have been a part of.
Caine's voice actor is actually one of the OG RU-vid Veterans. He got his start making countdown videos back in like 2007. He's since become an accomplished voice actor.
that’s why I’m not watching the pilot or even any reactions to it until more episodes come out so if I actually like the pilot’s humor and characters I’ll be able to watch multiple episodes in one sitting

I'm just glad she watched it, I really did not think she was going to or that she would just close it after a few minutes because it was not Christmas related. Also I'm just glad she "Reacted" to it. I feel like most reactions are either overacted and they talk so much they miss half the video and get confused or they just sit there like they aren't even recording.
As well made as it is, it can't appeal to everyone unfortunately. I just don't think the shows humor is the type that cracks Mousey, but as you said, at least she's interested

This anime is definitely something you need to watch, its so good and this season 1 is really just a set up for an amazing adventure this series will become later

Found out recently: XXDCC is code designation for something (some kind of extended memory storage). Pomni though is Russian (I think) for "Remember." Edit: Addition . . . when you see all those body dolls, their images are on some of the doors. I'm not of the origin of the characters, but there's something going on with respect to the dolls, that computer with the headset, and Caine . . . and what is C&A a reference to? And then they have that whole "Last Supper" at the end. XD
I wonder if the Digital Circus is like Jumanji. Where the game gives psychological suggestions to put the headset on and bam! You’re in the game, completely disappearing off the face of the earth.
Ragatha better not hold a grudge on pomni. This was pomnis first day, shes freaking out about being stuck, she sees the amalgamation of horror that is kaufmo so its natural she wants to run away, then when she tries to help she gets infected by the glitchiness.
Mouse watched The Amazing Digital Circus? Awesome. Perhaps she'll watch Murder Drones in the future. It's not necessarily easier to understand but more answers are given how many episodes are out.
We need more cute, innocent clown girls like Pomni. :p (And maybe not as a black comedy either. XD I mean genuinely cute. :p Seems like a pretty rare thing, I think. :?).
Ya know....looking back on this and seeing it for the umpteenth time....I think Ragatha may have abstracted at lest once and it was caught early enough by Caine that he was able to fix her considering how familiar she is with the process and remarks that Caine should be able to fix Kauffmo. Sure other people have abstracted and she's seen it happen but the way she carried on when explaining to Pomni why they don't look for an exit anymore...that seems to sound like she herself has abstracted before and was one of the few times Caine was able to reverse it. Like...maybe if Caine sees it happen he can reverse it before a certain time has passed but if he doesn't see it happen or too much time has passed all he can do is put them in the Cellar.
I don't think Pomni's an employee unless they all are & this has been being done to employees for a long time. Because according to... Jax, I think....? They were all in there for years before she got in.
