Thanks for the video Hoocho. I've dived into hydroponics directly because of your videos. I'm focusing on veggies because of Mark at Self Sufficient me. It would be amazing if you and Mark (Self Sufficient Me) could find a way to do a collaborative video together.
@Hoocho

I have actually reached out to Mark, and would be happy to, but the ball is in his court ☺️ Maybe a few comments from people on videos could prompt a response. He was a major idol of mine when I began YouTubing and growing so I’d love the opportunity.

@@Hoocho Awesome, I'll have to plant some seeds in his comments...haha on another note, I was also going to try and grow some tropical plants in an nft to see what happens. Philodendron Xanadu might be a good start.

What an excellent quality vid. I loved this. I also live in Tasmania and have just started setting up some hydroponic systems. I work in mining in WA so it's allowed me to grow even when I'm away every second week. Thanks again for the content!

As I'm only new to this channel and have a passion for 'classic gardening' I can't wait to try some of these techniques as I live in Cloncurry Qld I've had trouble keeping the ground damp in my gardens and keeping up with nutrient requirements. Thankyou for introducing me to hydroponics.

Very cool! I love how you just have these ideas and set them up based on what you can find at the local big box store! Whatever you find you just make it work. Very cool! I look forward to seeing progress videos of how this system does over time. Thanks for sharing! Those drip irrigation stakes I have something similar and I would never have thought to connect them the way you did. My problem always seems to be I need a large tube on the pump but my hydroponic source is only 4mm or whatever it is and then how do I shrink it down so what I came up with I inverted the access point and clamped it and had a small tubing also so that I could push it further into my channel and then when the water pumped in the small tubing any excess would be caught on the outer edges and couldn’t get forced up because I had clamped it. My explanation likely isn’t the best but bottom line it worked! Which was pretty cool and now I have two separate NFT systems using gravity and are being fed by one tote bin of water and nutrients and they both return into the same tote bin. I needed two different pumps but it works very well! I have about 100 litres in the tote and I have 108 holes that it feeds …54 in each system. It’s quite awesome actually 12 tubes in total each with 9 holes. I’m growing all kinds of greens and I have my micro dwarf tomato plants started in this system and about six cucumber plants starting out just until they get a bit bigger and then I’ll transfer them to their own tote or 5gallon pail. My system has been running for two weeks and it’s jamming! I’m going to have enough lettuce to feed my entire apartment floor! Lol!

😂lol.. I can't quite picture why you have 108holes but I guess it must be working for you.

IDEA: Drill a tap fitting into the bottom of the nutrient bucket, this way you can change the nutes easier.

Ive learned soo soo much from all your videos from your newest to oldest videos i have a 6x8 greenhouse but im upgrading to a 10x14. I have my grow lights at the top of the green house and i have solar panels that connect to my generator and runs my water pumps and second solar panels that run my lights. Im also a crafter and have a 3D printer but i still cant figure out how to design my own buckets and other stuff 🤷‍♀️ work in progress. Thank you love the videos keep posting please

woiuld of been much cheeper to get a water heater catch tray, a boot tray or a automotive drip tray... all about 5 bucks each here in the states as i think those are just the ones that are shallow, but there would also be many that are a bit taller, and still cheaper. but would work, just for any one intrested.. great vid.. thanks
@stephaniavanvolkenburg5424
@stephaniavanvolkenburg5424 Год назад
the first three mentioned are all close to the same size, though the automotive drip tray comes in several sizes... as i sit here and think, i have been wondering about dish pans, and bus pans (for cleaning off tables at resterants ) and wondering how i might make use of them... the first is about 10x12x6in deep and 1.25 the second is 2ft by 3ft by 10in deep and 3 for $11 if you have any insights how i might be able to make use of this as a system i would love to hear. best i have come up with is pot in pot on a rail for the smaller, and pot in pot conected for the larger... TIA for any insight you or any one else might be able to give me

Taking the lid off with the bag and plants is just plain stupid. You would add a threaded 1/2 inch poly fitting with a tap OR use the pump to drain the resevoir. Stoners edition....
