Yes: #1) If the sum of the digits of a number is divisible by 3, then the number is divisible by 3. 4 + 0 + 1 + 4 = 9. 9 is divisible by 3, so 4014 is divisible by 3. ••• #2) 3000 is divisible by 3 (3 • 1000) and 999 is divisible by 3 (3 • 333), so 3999 is divisible by 3 (3 • 1333). Remainder is 1 + 14 = 15, 15 is divisible by 3 (3 • 5). So altogether, 4014 is divisible by 3 (3 • [1333 + 5 = 1338]). (3 • 1338 = 4014).

At tje tot;e card (0:01), my answer is a) yes. Start in the thousands, 4 divides by 3 1 time with remainder 1. Carry the remainder to the hundreds place (10+0(/3 = 3 re,aomder 1. Carry th remainder to the tens place: (10+1)/3 = 3 remainder 2. Carry the remainder to the ones place: (20+4)/3 = 8 remainder 0. So 4014 / 3 = 1338.

4+1+4=9. 9 is divisible by 3; therefore, 4014 is divisible by 3.

Totally yes! You add the digits in the number and if the total can be divided by 3 the big number can be divided by 3 as well. 4 + 1 + 4 = 9 9 is divisible by 3. So, 4014 is also. :) I never forgot that very specific rule I learned way back when. Some rules as easier to remember obviously. ;)

Yes; when the digits in a number add up to 9, the number is divisible by 9, which means it's also divisible by 3.

just from thumb nail --- 4+0+1+4 = 9 and 9 is divisible by 3 so the answer is yes this works at all levels 34,126 3+4+1+2+6= 18 is 18 divisible by three? yes so 34126 is also

Absolutely. 1338 times. Simplify! 4014 less 3000. 1014 less 999. 15 can be divided by 3.

The proof follows from "modular arithmetic," which might be interesting for you to study. Also look up "Casting out Nines". 1. If the sum of the digits of N is divisible by 3, then N is divisible by 3. 2. If the sum is even and divisible by 3, then N is divisible by 6. 3. If the sum is divisible by 9, the N is divisible by 9.

I pick option D:) which is not Just divisible by 3. we add all the numbers together this gives us a total of 9 so it is not only is 9 a factor, but so is 3 and also 6.

Firstly, I do recall that if the digit's sum is divisible by 3, then the number is divisible by 3. But I also went fast to check it, just to be sure. I did this in my head, quickly: 1000 times 3 is 3000... Then 3900.... Then 3990... Then 3999... Then 2 - 5 - 8 - 11 - 14.... Tadaaa. Primitive, but fast and effective way to check it.

Yes it is... already know this one. If the numerals add up to a multiple of 3 then it is divisible by 3. Also... if it is an even number, it is divisible by 2 (obviously) and if it is both divisible by 3 and 2 then it is also divisible by 6. There is one for the number 12 too, but I don't remember it.

Mmm. There are rules of divisibility, like 0 in ones place value, ÷10, 5 in ones spot, ÷5.... Even # ÷2....but, without calculator, 3 goes into 4, 1 left, 3 goes into 10, 3, one left....last 3 goes into 24, 8 times, no remainder. So yes, then, I remember divisibilty rules do exist, a ha! The sum of the digits = 9 , 9 is divisible by 3. That might be the rule, and 6 comes into play but can't remember.... I watch to see how close...yea🎉

I forgot the #3 rule and just did a quick division in my head and got the correct answer. However, if this just works for 3, then it's really just an extraneous math trick that is only useful as a parlor trick. Interesting though.

The add it up only works for 3, if the number ends with an even number or 0 it's divisible by 2, if the last 2 digits are divisible by 4 the whole number id divisible by 4, if it ends with a 5 or 0 it's divisible by 5, if it's divisible by 3 & an even number it's divisible by 6. I don't remember the trick for 7 or 8, 9 is just 3 twice add up the digits divide by 3 add those & apply the 3 rule again & 9 works.

Yes I learn this in 4th or 5th grade Every adult should know this I don’t want to be mean or condescending but this is Grammar should stuff If You add the numbers In 4014 you get 9 and 9 is divisible by 3 And up the numbers and check if they are divisible by 3 This was taught in grammar school It is shocking how many people don’t know this It is so easy to learn I fully understand that people learn at different levels but really ?? If a person doesn’t know this They really really need a lot of help in math They need to start at the very basics Learning about division .Anyone can learn this. You just have to apply yourself Do the work what you put in you get out .
