A quick little video with my thoughts on the smaller 50mm 1.4GM after loving and shooting with the Sony 500mm 1.2GM. Also…shot it using the A7R5…great camera!!!
I recall you shot with Sony and was surprised that you went to Canon. I've been on Sony since the a7iii moved to a7riii (when the a7iv came out), today, shoot the a7rv and a7cii. When I was shooting the a7riii, I was still debating on moving to Canon (I was drinking the "Canon has better skin tones kool-aid"), but decided to go to the a7rv instead since I have all this GM glass (BTW, I had the 50 1.2 and sold it at the same price I bought it for then picked up the 50 1.4). A few things; the a7rv was the first Sony to have the "AI" chip. This dramatically changed some real important things for them - not only is AF awesome, but also provides great AWB; hence, great skin tones (even SOOC - this would show on the rear monitor too).
I totally agree with you. It was never a “color science” thing as much as an AWB issue with Sony. Canon used to have better AWB …I feel like they have gotten better along the way. At this point it’s as good as it gets.
@@Makta972 they are getting better. I’m curious to see how that A93 feels with the shutter button in a more ergonomic position. The camera is not for me…but maybe it will Feel better and be brought over to the other cameras.
