Personally and realistically, stop light to stop light a 400whp car on a decent suspension setup will slay all day. Huge power really isn’t all that unless you’re doing highway pulls or the drag strip.
The thing is.. Realistically, people don't need a lot of things.. But that's not the point. We buy and build what we want. Do I need 900 horsepower.. no" But I damn sure want it.
Man I couldn't agree more. In a RWD car, on the street, from a dig, more than about 500rwhp is gonna be tough to not just blow through tires. It's impressive to have huge dyno numbers but it is also fun to smoke high power cars.
4-500 is literally perfect. Most people saying that's not enough, probably haven't even ridden in a car with more than 400ish lol 800hp is cool, but blowing your diff apart, or losing a gear isn't. I feel like most people forget, that car is almost 30 years old. They all drive like they're old. Tight handling is a different tier now-a-days.
For an R34 gtr 680 whp is alright cuz it would do high 11s in the 1’4 mile for an supra nope not enough cuz doesn’t have awd to make it launch really fast off the line so gotta make up in top end speed and itz gonna be racing an American pushrod supercharged v8 and itz gonna lose if that car has good traction cuz from 60- 330 the charger gonna be faster so I think like 760 whp would be better cuz itz not racing an slow stock charger itz racing the real deal 🤷🏼
@@Nazo_Sil80 well the race this supra gonna do is gonna be racing an actual fast charger not an stock one so with 680 whp good luck beating that if the charger was stock then 680 whp is enough but with that charger having an racing engine nope not gonna be close unless they have an r34 gtr with 680 whp 👀
I got a kick out of the story about taking that kid for a ride in a 1,000 hp Supra lol. Reminds me of the opportunity I got myself a few years ago when a friend of a friend took me for a ride in his own 1,000 hp Supra. I’ve ridden in some fast cars before (300 whp 944 Turbo, 550 whp MR2, etc.), but this Supra is hands-down the fastest car I’d ever ridden in - I’d never before seen/felt a car go from 0 to 140 mph so quickly. If anyone ever gets the opportunity to drive/ride in a built Supra, go for it, it’s a life-changing experience.
700whp is fine for me, the car has been solid on the same set up since 2017 without a single issue and it’s still really fun to drive. I will never be one of those 1000whp Micky Thompson’s, TRD spoiler and Weds wheels guys only into straight lining.
This is why kw coilovers suspension and the rps triple carbon clutch are a staple product on builds oem level drivability. Also this car sounds different for a number of reason, his original Supra had a rare turbo manifold has unique pitch while going through the rev range.
I know this will be a replica. But if possible can you do a another version where you do everything how you want to do if you would do it today with the latest parts & technology. A restomod homage 🤘🏻
Jesus Christ, brother... 700hp is MORE THAN ENOUGH in absolutely ANYTHING hahaha gotta be a madman to think, "gee... I need more power." Love the channel, btw, thanks for sharing the stories, and I'm super jealous of the cars you've gotten to own.
The most insane supra I’ve seen gotta be the white one over at AutoTopNL channel, it’s so nuts and revs so fast and goes from 100-200 kmph so damn quick
Clean build. It's definitely quiet. Probably a resonator in there on top of that rear can. The turbo acts like a muffler too. Agreed on the Recaro's. I've run them in over half a dozen cars, and their OEM seats are the best as well IMO. Even the Helios or Trophy's from back in the day. Awesome seat especially for the times. Nice looking alpine white 1'er as well with those CSL style wheels.👍
if that means that it won't be sitting in a mechanics shop for most of its life and its actually drivable....its all about having fun and driving it imo ...this one 👌 looks amazing! those Project Mu brakes are literally eye candy too thats my favorite brand for brakes.
Are you kidding? Even a bone stock Supra would be enough for me. I’d actually love that since every Supra is modified in some way. Owning a fully stock Supra is quite unique nowadays
Craig, noticed the throttle body/manifold that is being used is not the same as the movie your old Supra. The movie car had a USDM engine which had a extra noticeable vacuum line on the throttle body. The JDM motors did not have this on the throttle body. I know its petty but I had to say it. By the way Daryl and the crew there great job! im gonna ask you at Cars and Coffee to respectfully show me the Supra Build! (Im in Oceanside).
With Micky Thompson drag radials and a 700hp is a killer street machine The 700hp today is a bigger and better curve than 700hp back in the old days Also the TQ numbers for 700hp today is much better 600-700hp runs with 600cc-750cc bikes Should go 9.99s with that power and maybe quicker
Okay everyone I spotted something while the wife was watching a TV show. I haven't seen it mentioned by Craig before if he has let me know. Did you know that 3 fast cars were used as background on the series Charmed? Heist Honda, Green Eclipse and Dom's RX7. Season 6 episode 2 21:31 and then 26.:46. The RX7 has visible front end damage and the windows aren't tinted out which I found strange. Heist Honda is up on lift missing parts.
Dude this guy!!! Lol 😂 I’ve only ever seen one Supra in my life so far and this guys owned 2 that I know of, gets to drive them even when he DOESNT own one, and is around them for what seems like all the time lol 😂 I’m jealous honestly.
Lol. I’m nearing completion on a “stock” twin-turbo SC300 build and I’ve been asking myself if 300hp was enough. I’ve barely driven it and I’m already making decisions on what boost controller I want to use. 🤣
This car probably has a cast manifold which doesn't give that iconic 2jz sound. A equal length tubular manifold will make it sound like how a 2jz should. Rps manifold is what Craig's original fnf supra had
I just came here because of the thumbnail. If you have to ask if it’s enough hp, then it’s probably not enough. I would tune it up to 900hp, and then detune the car for everyday streetability, though that might be a problem if you live in California.
Wait, what else would be in that supra besides a 2j? 1jz came in the earlier models right? Do you mean non vvti or something like that? Like aren't all those gen supras 2js?
I am surprised with the sound aspect, back in they days manifold were made to accommodate space but look and sound good. look at Japanese tuners back in the 90's and 10-15 years forward. getting you car tuned back then was not just power, it was an experience in terms of power, sound and feel. But than again, I don't really know. it's just a feeling I have, maybe I'm glorifying it too much?
Your little massage at the Vietnamese place sounds more like a low key tuggy spot that you don't want to officially say lmao its fine if that's the case. We know what you did back in the day when going to those clubs with the Asian ladies except its cheaper now going to a tug spot and getting relief without having to spend so much money at the club without getting anything in return lol come on whose gonna disagree with me?
Remember ya gonna be racing an actual fast charger not an slow stock one so 680 WHP maybe more then enough if you where using an r34 gtr cuz would easily win but 680 whp on an RWD Supra not gonna be fast enough if the charger can hook up so would need at least 740 whp or more just because the only way to keep up would be the top end speed cuz your not gonna beat an supercharged 570+ ci v8 to 60 or the 1/8 even with 760 whp 🤷🏼🤔
