Even the 60v lacks the grunt of a good gasser. I has torque but no rotational mass which you notice when taking down large swaths. But the 60v does anything most people need a weed whacker to do. Def a step up from the 20v.
I have 3 20v batteries, you need them for the whole yard. Twyne has lasted me all summer so far. Ps my gas trimmer with motor in back broke and fell apart thats why i got the dewalt.
Put an Echo Speed Feed Head 400 on that and you will love it much more. I've been doing that for 5 years. Also the string you use makes the experience much better if you buy commercial quality string like the Husqvarna Titanium XPro 0.95 inch. Always use on High speed because the switch will wear out if you keep on switching back and forth from low to high speed. It's variable speed trigger anyway, so you don't need low speed that much. A $270 Echo or Stihl string trimmer will last forever though.
Theres a video and the guy shows that Hart is the same as the Ryobi. Their batteries are similar but not compatible. But the machine is the exact same. Hart has surprised me. Glad ur enjoying it. Might try it. Not on my job sites but around home. The boys would never let u live bringing Walmart tools on the job hahaha.
Just used mine for the first time. Battery lasted about 25 minutes. Will need a backup for my size yard. Decent power but a low level gas powered one will have more power.
If you remove the battery before folding the string trimmer, the battery end will push past the guard and clip into place, holding it collapsed. Thats what "dewalt was thinking with that design".
If I already had 60v batteries, I would have been more likely to go that way. Unfortunately the initial investment for the 60v version plus batteries would have been probably 2 or 3 times the cost.
Meanwhile, mine was missing the guard and when I called DeWALT they sent the wrong one. Got it in the trimmer/blower bundle with 4AH battery from Home Depot. Big fan of the blower.
Love the video great job just got one 2 days ago and its cleared out some heavy brush dime sized 2-4 feet tall weeds running through batteries is a pain but its june some of this stuff hasnt been touched 😮 all year so its fine... Ive got 1 5ah, 1 4ah, and 2 2ah, but with the newer 4ah charger with 2 stage charging and an old one qnd im extremely pleased with it
@@garagestory yes stock head on high rhino .080(recommended size) green tri wrap or whatever… the dewalt string was ehhhh I don’t know that I’d stand by that line like that was weed eater line… but with the rhino and turning it 90 degrees (maybe just the turning) I notice it gets bound up less.. like is it gas no is it even corded eh but I tell you what the hybrid Hart 20v got wrapped and smoked out on cord power in those same weeds a year ago burnt the motor slap out… got a craftsman ws210 or whatever last gen version is and need just a bump cap/spool cover so I need to learn about this head swapping so I can have both
Im wondering if I should by an 8ah XR, 6ah Flexvolt of 9ah flexvolt. I only have 1 battery 5ah of dewalt at the moment, and im looking to upgrade my collection for Drill/Impact as well. Going lighter is handy, but going heavier make a better runtime. Im wondering how many minutes a DCB606 would do ? My 5ah XR lasted 16mins at high speed on thick ditch
If I didn’t already have several plain 20V batteries, I would have more seriously considered getting the 60V trimmer. If I already had flex volt batteries, it would make sense to buy the 60v version. I think for what I’m doing, the 20V trimmer will serve me well
@@garagestory for me 20V is plenty of power and i guess is more battery friendly for runtime. Im just hesitating if flexvolt battery since it is 15 cell instead of 10 cell has an advantage over XR battery to use on a 20V trimmer which is non-flex (for battery run time). But that being said. A 6ah flex cost the same as an 8ah Standard XR. I guess i would be better with an 8ah xr for more runtime
Yeah, I’m not sure how all those batteries compare. Like you said, I would think a 8ah 20v would last longer than a 6ah flex volt being used on a 20v trimmer. But I’m no expert!
@@garagestory yes youre right. Now im wondering if i should get on amazon 2-packs of 6ah (DCB206) or a single 8ah (DCB208). I know 8ah is extra amp hour with no extra size added. I already got the 5ah battery (DCB205) which last maybe 20-40mins depending of the apllication. Do you think the new cells 21700 inside the 6ah would make a huge difference in runtime if i want to run at high setting (because i have a ditch). For DIY, i guess these 2-packs is the best value but between a 5ah and 6h, theres alot of size and weight difference , but have no idea on the runtime difference, since it still only 1ah ahead of a 5ah battery. Maybe you have a clue on it ?
The instructions say put the handle on the higher side like you changed it to. Also maybe flip the direction of the curve of the handle so it curves up.
Instructions? Who reads those?😁 It seems to have the best balance with the handle curved down. I think the best point would be just a little further down than it reaches, actually.
did anyone tried this tool with some other heads? like star head, metal head? do you think its power can handle that weight? and can anyone compare this tool with lets say 14inch trimmer of EGO 56V 2.5 amp hr battery? dealt his 4 amp 20 V which makes 80 watts. EGO 56V with 2.5 amp makes 140 watt....any comment=? thnx in advance
That's what I came to figure out. the one I have I think is the same as his. I wanted to see if I can put different heads or blades. Would be great for brush.
@@ltsallwood can u update us pls? i am planning to buy 2.5amp h one (combo -trimmer-blower(530)) i am worried about the power of trimmer can handle weight of star-blade or bush cutter blade. also i am not sure if its easy to take out eazy-load string head and mount the blade… many qs ! :)) thnx in advance
I have that trimmer. Take off the guard and use the heaviest battery you have and it’s much better balanced. Don’t let the string get too long and run at full speed for extended periods. You will fry the motor.
Id like to think this one or one im its class would be what im looking for but i know im going to need the bigger ones ugh 😩😩😩 sadly im going to need the 60v DeWalt or dual m18 Milwaukee cause i already have both battwries and tools from those lines
