in fact RGB leds can reduce your FPS ... i think was JayzTwoCents that happened to him ... had too many LEDS and the computer had a ton of FPS issues... removed some LEDS and got good again ... just saying anyway
Also to prevent from damaging components (some of them are very fragile & small) on back side while mounting card & smth else in computer case, clean work etc
not really. most of graphic card backs (and most of electronics pcb) only contain solder ends. so nothing will be damaged by light and non charged physical contacts
One thing i think about backplate: Having a backplate can keep the electric out of dust the longer time and making the graphics card last longer because the top end always full out of dust and that spot cannot be clean so easily so those pins to get old and rusty and at the end it will stop working so having a backplate can keep that top out of dust and keep the graphics card working a longer time.
In my 2 years of working at a PC repair shop I have never seen rust on a graphics card (even on cards almost 10 years old), and I live in New England, where everything you love rots. So these are some pretty extreme circumstances.
Two graphics card without me backplate has stop working now in one of em two of the screws became rusty after one year only of use. The top part had become really dusty I attempt to clean it couldn't clean it all a month later stop working when I mention rusty didn't mean a massive space just s bit of it but the point I was trying to said backplate the most important is to protect components that can protect the graphics card and for esthetics that's it for me I like to buy em with backplate so you don't see them naked and dusty on the top
@@keithenglish3860 I bought a 980 ti off of somebody and the card worked well and was in good condition, but the 4 corner screws were pretty much rust.
@@alvarsantini2653 well mate thats pretty rare occasion you had there, ive two computers at home one is mine with gtx 1070ti and the other was my brother using 750ti that has aged more than 6years and still rocking until now, full of dust and all no rust but oxidated metal on screws and some pins. note both cards (mine and brother's 750ti) arent equiped with backplates. wondering how your cards dying pretty easily
You can also make one by yourself!!! I made a backplate for my asus gtx 1650 super and it aesthetically rocks! And the materials are cheap and takes almost 0 effort .Sky is the limit!!!
does a backplate cause higher gpu temps though? Ive see a few custom ones i like that people have made that are a solid piece of acrylic. seems like it would cause higher temps
Unless it’s improving literally anything worthwhile for the Gpu, the extra cost is definitely not worth it. Personally I don’t think it’s that deep to spend much more money on simple aesthetics (although they definitely do look nice).
Plus you could mount the GPU vertically (if you somehow get a riser for free) and won't have to worry if there's a backplate or not since it faces where the sun doesn't shine
