Is a grapple bucket really worth it!!!!
In this video I high light the best use for a grapple bucket. It has been one of those implement that has been invaluable to for clearing land. It is a big investment but I feel that it was well worth it in the end.

I started a tree trimming business about a year ago and when Micheal hit, I was able to by a used skid steer after my first two tree jobs. It only came with a bucket so we still have to load the bucket by hand but after seeing this video, I need to save up to add a grappler. I had the money to buy a grappler after the next couple of jobs after I bought the skid steer but I used that money to buy a used tractor for my landscaping business. They aren’t cheap but they seem to be well worth it.

Good demo of how that grapple can save a lot of time. Like you, I use a box blade that I've added a few tractor front end weights to as a way to counterbalance the grapple load.

I have a similar grapple and it's one of the best investments I've made in a tractor attachment. The box blade makes a great rear ballast and I've put several additional tractor weights on mine for added stability lifting really heavy loads. The grapple is useful clearing brush piles and loading big logs on my sawmill.

I bought a grapple for my Kubota L3800 a few years back and it is such a life saver when moving trees. I have 34 acres of wooded property and use it to clear fallen trees and grab stacks of brush to put on the burn pile without ever leaving the seat. I wish I had bought it when I got my tractor instead of waiting.

8' is also the smallest standard length for a sawmill to accept if you were going to try to sell the logs or make use of the timber in that way. The mill I go to accepts red and Jack pine along with poplar. No idea what a few logs are worth but making use of them as opposed to leaving them rot in a pile might be more efficient had your buddy not had a use for them.

Nice video! I just bought an Everything Attachments wicked root grapple and posted a video using it. It's mounted on an LS4145. Sure makes moving logs simple and easy. So far, I really like the grapple!

How has the EA Wicked Root grapple stood up to use? I like its design but am concerned about the 1/4" steel vs 3/8 or 1/2" on others. Trade-offs, durability versus lift capacity, I realize. Thanks!

@@peterlangevin2178 EA uses 50 ksi steel instead of the 36 ksi steel used by most manufactures. They also use 80 ksi on the tips of the digging spears. 1/4" is as durable as 3/8" but far lighter. If you're looking at 1/2" stock you're probably dealing with a skid steer level grapple. For my skid steer I bought a Tomahawk HD 72" for $900 at an auction. They're about $1,800 now, but that's worked great on a skid steer for many years.

Nice video and great piece of kit, thinking of getting one for my Kubota L1421, came with 4 in1 bucket, not great for moving logs and really heavy (70 inch). Not sure how much the grapple weighs but suspect less

Only thing I'd do different is to make a ballast weight for the 3 point hitch. That little box blade only weighs a couple hundred lbs where you could hang a thousand lb concrete filled steel box from the 3pt & it'd make a world of difference. Can be done on the cheap too.

I cleaned up 30 acres of cut-over land with such a grapple. It is indispensable. And, I might add, that is one fast dog.

and yes grapple bucket is great for moving logs the one i have is a little heavy for my tractor so it limits the size of logs i can move.

I’m thinking about buying a L3901 ( I believe it the same loader you have) and plan on using for clear a couple acres, firewood and mostly to load logs on my Manuel sawmill. What’s the largest log you have lifted. My mill is capable of milling a 30” by 21’, but most of the logs I get are 24”x16’. Do you think I’ll have issues lifting the logs onto my mill which is about 2 feet off the ground?

I even use my grapple bucket to load large rocks into my dump truck. Save me having to run the excavator everywhere for a few rocks. I am talking coffee table size rocks.

Bruce Ingram The link on Amazon says that weighs 700 pounds, as for the third function kid if you use exactly what is provided in the kit then it is really straightforward and should take you maybe for eight hours. However I did not use what was provided I got CRES tubing bent and added fittings installed it on the loader it is a much more clean look, I like to set up significantly better but it cost me about $400 more to do it this way.

Everything Attachments. they make grapple buckets out of 50 ksi steel instead of 36 ksi. Which means it's lighter and as strong or stronger. My L4701 Kubota has a 350 pound 72" grapple. They're about 1/3 more expensive so you have to decide if it's worth the extra 200-500 pounds of lift capacity.

It definitely worth the extra lift capacity, I wish every time I put the grapple on I have more lift capacity. I’m really hard on my tractor, I find my self using the curl function a lot more so than I would to get stuff up off the ground.

I have a Kubota L2501 with backhoe and just purchased and received the same Amazon combo of forks and the grapple. The grapple's "claws" seem to be able to operate independently in your video but the third function kits I'm finding only have 2 buttons, presumable for open and close. How are you able to independently operate each claw when the Titan unit only has two hydraulic hoses? (sorry if this sounds dumb...kinda new to third functionality.

The Land Source so it’s not independent. The hydraulic cylinder is it operate the kale are teed together. What you will find is that when they close or open which ever one has more resistance against it even small amounts will cause one to open or close before the other.

All Kubota quick attaches are the universal quick attach style. And yes it works on most brands of equipment except John Deer.

you need more ballast if the grapple feels heavy. Ballast will balance the load

regardless of ballast that FEL is only rated to pick up 1131 lbs at the pin at full height and that grapple weights around 600lbs, so yeah, it's heavy.

Did you have to add remotes to the tractor to use the grapple? I have a Kioti 4510 with a KL 5510 loader bucket quick disconnect. Thinking about getting a 2019 MTL 72" grapple.

Alan Adair If you install the kit the way it’s provided I would think you’d be able to do it in 8 to 12 hours depending on what tools you have. I did not install it the way it was provided I ran hard lines down my loader arm, changed out the quick couplers, built my own valve bracket, because I don’t like how the valve is located. I also had to modify the hoses this all took several weeks of trial and error and several trips to my local hydraulic store. Unfortunately I don’t have a video about this cause it was a long time before i was making RU-vid.

ruyguy8888 Kabota did offer a third function kit, however I didn’t want to pay for theirs I ended up buying one online adding it myself. I got the third function kit from www.everythingattachments.com

Like Daniel said, Everything attachments . com has the third function kits. If you have access to hoses and any hydraulics parts you can save even more: I called them and just ordered quick couplers with my bucket and then ordered the control handle with the function switch in it as separate part. I supplied the rest out of spare parts around the shop and made my own hoses.

They make grapple bucket for any size of tractor, the one that i have in this video is really way to big for my tractor it is a 32 Horse. But definite investigate the correct size one for your tractor.

Chaps good: But I could not tell if you set your (Kickback &/or Chain brake what ever you want to call it) when you kicked that log in your grapple If you did not you should: Advice: For the masses out their: You should set your break befor starting and while not cutting; Ie) Walking a distance, setting your saw down while not using it or to walk around the tree, so that if you fall or some thing, any thing happens you don't get hurt.

It is loser than my Kubota bucket, but I have used and abused this grapple an it has worked great for me and I would definite recommend it.

there 5 foot bucket is lose on my tractor and can fall off back dragging. with a welder it can be fixed.

Black Hills Deer Camp I got my third function hydraulic kit from everything attachments.com I did install it myself and I would say that is moderate to difficult. There is a good video on RU-vid about the installation of the kit. however I ran solid lines from the valve down to the front of my tractor I didn’t want flexible lines to get potential damaged. Running solid lines what made it difficult if you just stick with the initial kit you’ll be just fine. Any effort put into putting a grapple on your tractor it’s worth it in the end.
