Professor Marc Buehner, from Cardiff University School of Psychology, explains what you can expect from a psychology degree. For more about the Cardiff course, visit: www.cardiff.ac.uk/psychology/...
I want to help others and listen to others because as a child i never had the opportunity for someone to listen to me. But at the same time I want to be a forensic psychologist to know how trauma and other things affect people to make them a criminal. I don’t really like science though mainly biology. But all in all I am interested mainly in law and psychology. I am good at English, History, and Math but science is not my strong suit tbh so that’s why I am having doubts about forensic psychology.
I also really wanna study psychology but the only problem is money. The only thing I think is business and technology need to mesh with psychology for more income and to help more people especially with mental health going down with the rise of technology and a fast paced world.
I definitely understand what your saying, but remember to do what you love. There will always be obstacles in life, but it’s up to you to get over them. You choose your path and stick to it! I pray many blessings come to you!!!
I'm also absolutely confounded about my career. Initially I wanted to be cricketer then actor, economist, lawyer, anthropologist, archeologist and now Im quite leaning towards to be physiologists. Im bona fide ambiguous in regard with determining my career to peruse in. It's too common I know but simultaneously it's too detrimental to my career as well, so I gotto think wisely what would be right for me to do. I contemplated, however I still flunk yet to conclude. I got to be adamant, but I do have major interest in law, anthropology and physiology. But, I can't persue all coz I must need to take higher education in whichever field I choose, so it's extremely difficult to achieve higgest degrees in all these subjects, so I gotto choose one. It's baffling me now.😦
don´t be afraid of the statistics. my professor said in the beginning that statistics in not like math in high school and he was right! Don't make it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
@@CindyWarren2004 Turn to bible and allow CHRIST to be your therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist. No man nor women fits to be one. All are sinners and without glory, all are tempted and suffer the same. All are expected to REPENT AND BORN AGAIN, to LIVE HOLY AND GO AND SIN NO MORE. All are weak in the daily fight between their spirit and flesh. All these therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist, this world provides, can do is: to deceive and steal. They deceived you through all these “diagnoses” and they steal your money, through all the pills which you “need”. In short: they poison your mind and your overall health, leaving you with neither one. Therapist, Psychologist and Psychiatrist = Field where no human soul, never ever going to fit of being an help, no matter the among of years spend in “medical schools” or the decree gotten from there. ALL of us are daily deceived, no matter the walks of life. Do not trust one nor to try to be one. 1 John 4:1 KJV Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
i want to know how the mind works & understand more about mental illnesses and disorders in order to remove the stigma from the society. i also want to develop communication skills so that i'll be able to know how to talk to people struggling with their mental health. i wanted to be their safe space. i want others to have what i didnt have.
@Hajar Maqsudi well you could be a psychologist who gives counseling and therapies, you could be a psychiatrist where u give medications to ur patients. you can also be a guidance counselor to students at school or universities.
That's actually what I want to do, although I'm a little concerned that my own mental health issues may hold me back. Regardless, I would like to reach out to people who help the most.
I would like to integrate learning psychology with philosophy. I feel as though the two at some level are intertwined and to me, studying one without the other can be akin to reading half of the book of the human condition.
Im feeling overwhelmed and i dont know what to do. I started studying a program that i thought i would enjoy and i was so excited about it but then i realised that i dont enjoy it at all. I have always found interesting to learning about human behaviour, mental health and stuff like that and now that im studying something else i feel like i have make a mistake. Annnnd i dont how to tell my parents
Cati A4YOU i’m in the same exact position except i kinda have a general direction I’m aiming towards. I’m also a junior & i almost replied to this comment with a huge paragraph but i figured no one would be interested. If you don’t mind, where are you from? U.S.?
@@aurora-sq8xx my biggest issue is that I don't really have something that I like enough to make a career out of. I thought about med school because I find it kinda interesting and also because of the money:) but when I think about how much you have to learn there and how difficult it is I get super anxious
I only had to take Math 115 (College Algebra) as a prequisite to Math 134 which is the one I ACTUALLY need for a psychology degree which is Finite Math. I was told I need stats so I'm not sure if it will be implicated when I go to a four year college but while I'm studying for my associates at a two year, those are the only two I've been made aware of. The equivalent of two semesters of Math.
I want to help the youth, and curr what's bothering inside of them. I'm talking about the mental heath, is this the course I should take? What probably my opportunity, my job rather after I graduated?
Psychiatrist or a social worker. Social worker obviously focuses on youth more but psychiatrist will focus on mental health of those who are older too, but you will be helping many people.
You need to be a doctor to be a psychiatrist. So you need to take Medicine (5 years most unis), then you will be able to undergo training to become a psychiatrist. It typically takes 12 years (Medical degree + Psychiatrist). You will need to have Extreme commitment.
I am studying maths with cs I don't know biology but I am interested to study psychology so what can I do plz tell what are the subjects important to study the course?
Oh..nice..i am doing Bsc in psychology & buisness ...hope to to msc in industrial and organizational psychology and hopefully a phd as well❤️..curious to know more about that feild..please do a vedio on job opportunities for psychology variations 😊
I really want to study psychology, but I want to study abroad, thinking about Germany or Denmark, but I’m getting really anxious because I can’t find any information about how my degree would help me after uni, would I have to learn the local language if I decided to stay in Denmark to find a job there?
I always wanted to be a psychologist but wasn't accepted at first, and now I just don't have that kind of money, some dreams seems far but they still stick with you.
I want to use my knowledge on psychology and mix it with my knowledge on spirituality, kinda like psycho-spirituality but on the schizophrenic spectrum. I'm 14 and I'm going to make history! Written: 24/11/2021
But I like to tell you that in psychology we study about disease but to go in spirituality we have to know the psychology without disease or the upper level of human intelact to feel that highest level of awareness
Just in time for my contemplation, I'm currently studying BS Psychology and I find it quite good, but this is really not what I want to do. There's something deep inside that wants to breathe, I seem to figure out it a little but I'm afraid to consider it. I might just finish my degree to have a work before I let out what I really want to do.
Hello , I am thinking on changing career paths , I currently study biophysics, thought I was interested in it , however I just now realized that I don’t really want it , I wanna study psychology, but now what do I do ? , does anyone know where I can apply or find school that take international students ?? Please , I need help
I am very confused rn. After watching many videos on RU-vid about studying Psychology almost all of them say that the University must be a part of the British Psychological Society. So as far as I understood every country has their own psychological societies, but this one is mentioned quite a lot. So is the BPS the most important one? The most recognized one? The only one that's accepted through out the world? I am currently applying for a university that is in the European Psychological Society, does it mean that's recognized through out the Europe only and the BPS is the dominating one? Anyone please help me with this -__-
If you get a degree accredited by the BPS you won't be recognized in Europe and will have to get a certificate to show competence in Europe (Specific to the country you want to work in)
That's okay tho you don't have to have it all figured out before even starting your course. If you have a passion for Psychology and find it interesting then go for it and see where the journey takes you.
I just finish my high school and idk m stuck here, i actually wanted to study and go foward on psychology but idk where to begin with What do i do, what subject do i have to be good at ,or do i just not care on what subject i finish with and just go forward on psychology
minoring is kinda pointless if u dont focus on one 1 thing and only pick courses that relate to that 1 major, for ex will psychology help u in a field of marketing? vice versa.
Hii sir... I want to you ask a question... > Sir, if i graduated with non-psychology but i want to post graduation with psychology..... So, What should i do now?
Since secondary school I struggled a lot when it comes to math but I’m pretty good at Biology and Chem !! Does psychology need a lot amount of math to pursue ?!
I failed my maths GCSE 3 times and I am currently studying Psychology with Neuroscience in London. You definitely don't have to be good at maths to study psychology. It can help but if I'm getting good grades despite failing so many times, you'll be just fine

I’ve heard that it’s hard for students to get a good job who go in the psychology field cuz for most of the “interesting” jobs, a PhD/PsyD is needed. Do these jobs pay well? Forensic psychology is a passion of mine but I’m worried because I don’t want to end up being unemployed or poor lol.
i am a 31 years old petroleum engineer, yet just about last month i have discovered this passion regarding human behaviors and how our minds work. is it too late to pursue a degree in psychology? and is it really worth it?
Hello. I'm in a dellima. I'm interested on taking psychology classes and go on college but I'm a sensitive person that cry over a movie, a book and I'm affraid I may screw it if I go on psychology. On the other hand, I'm interested on graphuc design too, but I must say, I have a lot work to do until I draw property. Any advice?
Dont become a psychologist if youre too snesitive and it doesnt appeal to you. You can become a psychologist researcher for example ! Thats doesnt dtop you from studying psychology
I am currently studying BBA and i'm thinking to study MBA in finance. But i really want to study psychology. So can i do my MBA in psychology after doing MBA in finance. I know it will be a double masters but anyways. I am interested in both fields, i am just confused which field to pursuee my career in.
Sophie 2 years ago I failed my maths GCSE 3 times and I am currently studying Psychology with Neuroscience in London. You definitely don't have to be good at maths to study psychology. It can help but if I'm getting good grades despite failing so many times, you'll be just fine saw this one on the comsec, hope it helps.
I don't really have a scientific or mathematic background. I actually struggle a lot with math. Does that mean I'm gonna have a hard time if I choose to study psychology?
Im wondering the same thing,i struggle alot with science,i was hoping taking physcology would be less about cells and their damn receptors and more about the brain as a whole but someone said you have to take 5 years medicince before you can branch out to this field..im sad :(
You don’t need mathematics at all. Actually if you just know addition, multiplication, substraction and division you're good to go. But you'll have to take statistics courses. A lot of students tend to generalize statistics with maths and gets afraid quite a lot. Now if you're talking about science background, I think a science background is pretty helpful in the long run because there are biopsychology, perception, developmental psychology- these courses emphasize on the biological basis of brain functioning.
@@maamarfaroukbenbada454 I don’t know in which country you need five years of medicine to study psychology but that doesn’t make quite sense. Psychology has almost nothing to do with medicine. Yes biological basis of functioning is important here but medicine is a completely different discipline!
And what about masters degree.. I'll be completing my BA PSYCHOLOGY by 2020 and I want to study further in Neuropsychology or forensic psychology... And later a PhD... Well in india you don't find colleges in Neuropsychology to give you up to the mark of education and further scholarships
Hi Ravi. We have an MSc in Neuroimaging at our new brain imaging centre (CUBRIC) that might be of interest. Here's a video showing the facilities: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xSeJjY9NGCc.html
I got diagnosed with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) I’ve always been interested on studying psychology and becoming a clinical psychologist, but all my friends keep telling me that’s not a good idea. What do I do?
1st ...stop listening to OTHER people opinions and thoughts. And learn to follow your heart and what you KNOW deep in your gut is the right decision. Shut out the noise of the world. That includes close ones to. Go in silence. And truly listen to your heart
Don’t let them control you. They’re not the one who’s gonna experience what you choose. If you feel and think it’s your calling, then don’t hesitate. Remember that.
you should do research or have a parent or older sibling do research for you on what courses to take in high school like a language course for one since psych degrees ask for that.
You can apply the knowledge of psychology in business very well in fields like marketing or HR management. You can also be an industrial psychologist. But before you decide think clearly about the courses you'll be taking in Psychology, all of them might not catch your interest and you might find some way out of your league.
1 second ago Half your degree is statistics and I had exams every week. I went in completely unaware of this. More fool me. Made it through none the less and the rest was really interesting I became a pwp
SQUAD012 samee. I got bachelors in communication and media but i want to pursue masters in psychology 😭 I don’t know how but i heard in UK its possible
i want to take psychology but since , math was involved I'm not sure anymore about psychology. (i hate numbers btw lol) I'm also sucks when it comes to research thing, yawa hahha
I'm just having a thought of taking this course because of personal issues. I feel like I need to know more bout myself. Should I take it? I'm so really anxious right now. My time is ticking and it's an urgent to choose bcoz the deadline for applying college is coming my parents don't know about it.. :
Hi! I think if resolving your own issues is your main motivation to study psychology, then I would say that wouldn't be a good idea since the degree itself is not going to help you. If I understood correctly what you said, you'd need consult to a psychologist in order to find a solution for your personal issues. If you're still interested in psychology, you could do both things: studying and in therapy. In fact, when I was a clinical psychology student, teachers always recommended us to see a therapist/psychologist on our own. I just want to let you know that in case you're confused whether studying psychology would help you to solve your own personal problems or difficulties.
@@divanapozo6170 aw, the bad thing is I'm still in my shs and can't afford for the treatment but yea maybe you're right thanks for some time. I'll think about it :

If you literally know just addition, substraction, multiplication and division, you’re good to go! 👍 But keep in mind that you’ll have to study statistics, which students tend to generalize with math and get frightened at first ( even I did the same). If you view staistics as the subject it is, and don't get anxious about maths then it will become easy I hope!
