Is a Triple Monitor Setup Worth it? 

Im using a triple setup for streaming and multitasking. Having ur stream chat and overview on one screen and have ur discord pulled up on the other. Very great.

As a gamer I can say 100% it's worth it even if you only play on one monitor. You still multitask on the others while you're playing. It's a real game changer.

To add to the pro for productivity and gaming experience, 3 screens will immerse you in the experience and keep you more focused on your tasks... it is definitely a significant difference for myself and I have to have 3 monitors to feel comfortable doing my day to day work. Moving my head is a bit of an issue for day to day task, but with a swiveling chair and depending on what you have open, it doesn't matter since it may not need immediate attention.

For The NVIDIA control panel you can safe profiles, one with the surround setup and one without. For example you press ctrl+shift+1 for 3 monitor gaming, for normal use press ctrl+shift+2 and it switches back within 3 seconds.

My only question is do you notice the edging of the monitors when racing with it

One of your Cons, especially the one concerning turning your eye or turning your head is actually dependent on how the game itself handles 3 monitors. If a game keeps your view and UI elements inside the center monitor, then the side monitors simply add view to your game. However, some games have scaling issues where it zooms your view in and stretches your UI. this is where 3 monitor gaming goes bad for gaming. The only time I have to setup NVidia surround screen spanning is when a videocard drive is installed/updated. I don't have to setup the 3 monitor thing every time. I think you are turning yours off all the time. Your 2 main cons are very subjective to situations, programming and compatibility. If the games where all programmed to center its reference view and UI elements to the center 16:9 area of any ultrawide or 3 monitor setup, as well as NVidia fixing what ever problem they have with disabling widescreen spanning ever driver update, on top of you stop choosing to disable your 3 monitor spanning everytime you close a game, the only Con you would have would be the cost. There used to be a modding community that worked on user/fan-made fixes for games that had problems with 3 monitor scaling for view and UI. About the only other con I can think of, outside of cost and lack of support, is jealous players being vindictive and talking crap.

When I get my other 2 monitors ima use left for discord and right for RU-vid/twitch

No doubt, this looks impressive. However, for all day productivity, though initially three large screens seems like a good idea, it's not simply because it's a pain in the neck. The best productivity setup I've found is a Large 27-32" 4K center screen with 22" screens on either side. Definitely does not look nearly as nice, but it gives you the additional information you need at a glance while decently focus your attention at the task at hand right in front of you. For instance, my screen to my right I keep for my email program since you don't need more space and you're able to respond to work coming in quicker. You can use the left screen for instant messengers such as Skype and your file explorer (screen split) or other live information feeds... The entire setup should be within your peripheral view while seated in a comfortable position looking straight ahead. Anything more is not only a waste, but also a pain.

Nice video. I've been debating this ever since I got my RTX 3080 as I have the power to run 3. The thing is my main monitor is a 27" 1440P 144hz which isn't the cheapest so to get 2 more of the same ones will run a pretty penny. I also have a 55" desk and not 100% sure all 3 would fit. I currently use my old 15" laptop via the Windows wireless display feature as a second monitor which definitely increases productivity so I couldn't imagine 3 full 27" monitors from a productivity standpoint. Gaming, I love racing games like Forza so it'll be nice for those too.

You are correct 100%. I have 4 monitor set up as I am working gaming and watching movies all the time. The setup lets me do fun stuff at same time when I work. Cost is not so bad... I payed $95 per monitor with DP ports and HDMI. Card NVIDIA 1070ti can handle it just fine. The last I got 3x $29.99 arms and looks amazing. Thanks so much for the video. Great points!!!!

My first and only triple setup was on a school computer. I took two other monitors from the computer lab and had some fun with triple monitor minecraft.

I needed this advice, thank you. I'm in the process of building a PC and I've got the budget to splurge, like $1000. I'm debating getting an ultra wide curved monitor verses 3 screens. I'll probably compromise and get one ultra wide curved screen with two vertically aligned monitors on either side. I could just use the main curved monitor for gaming and the other two screens for whatever. Not sure yet though, advice welcome. Keep in mind this is my first PC build.

Cons for triple monitors: none.

I use my drawing tablet as a second monitor, and i plan on making a setup to upgrade from my laptop. If i did 2 monitors i would need a stand for them and a separate one for my drawing tablet that's fully articulate and adjustable. I might upgrade to that, since my budget i am saving up for the setup is 10k anyways, so putting the extra money into 2 monitors i can use freely and a drawing tablet as the third would be ideal for doing all the things i will use the setup for.

Oh shit I think I messed up for real. Why didnt I watch this before I ordered 3 32inch 32GK850F-B monitors..When I was watching I was like yeah I figured as much with what you were saying, what I didnt count on is that the whole time I was thinking those were 32inch and when you said 27inch, my jaw dropped..Right now I have a 27inch T.V center 22inch left and a 24inch right..Theirs no freaking way its going to fit my desk..Damn my girlfriend is going to kill me..She told me to go 27..Man all the parts are coming in to build the new system and I dont know how to fit 3 32inch monitors..DAMNNNNNNNNNN ok back, its been a few days since I wrote that post and I am still waiting on one monitor and one part to start my build..I think I came up with a solution to my space and desk problem, I bought 3 2X8X10 boards and where the monitors go on my desk I am going to screw those boards down..Then that should give me the space to set up all 3 32inch monitors..I wish we were able to post pics on here to show off the finished result..Anyways thx..

It most certainly is. Especially if you multitask often. Even more so now since games are beginning to support multiple monitors..

3 screens for productivity is a must. Teams, outlook, visual studio, terminal sessions all without alt-tabbing.

Its worth it I can watch RU-vid on 1 and on the other I play video games the third I will play background music for my vids

I want to know what is it that he can do faster with 3 screen faster than compared to 2 screen. Ive got 3 240hz/gsync monitors (500$ monitors) its so amazing to have. Waiting for 3080ti and hope itll run it perfect! Ive had 3 ultrawides before but that was too much haha.

Yes, you just need 3 monitor arms, saves desk space, looks better, and allows you to angle the sides and bring them close enough that its not hard to see the edges. Flat against the wall is for show room aesthetics but it doesn't work irl, sweep your outstretched arm across all displays, distance should not change for ergonomic setup, but yes, gaming on 3 doesn't work in practice.

For some instances, it can be nice. But I can't image all the multitasking enabled with 3 screens will really improve your productivity.

i don't understand why people say it's basically good for racing sims only, i played world of warcraft in a triple monitor setup, and pvp was a breeze. being able to see whats on the side of you, is better turning your head a bit, as opposed to turning your character, as it will eat more bandwidth for your video card. and a lot of power, i have never seen that as an issue, i did it with an r9 280 4gig and i never had any issues, stayed well above 60 fps. and that was on 3 60 inch samsung tvs.

3:20 You'll wanna open the config file in your games folder and manually edit the fov. Not all games will be written in a way that enables you to do this, but for those that are, it will fix the issue you're describing..

AMD eyefinity is much better than nvidia surround for multi-monitor gaming, 1)You can have an ultrawide monitor in the middle with same vertical height , so the bezels are even further out to distract you. 2)You can mix and match monitors with more freedom and not compromise on the refresh rates, so you can have a fantastic ultrawide 144Hz with freesync in the middle with cheap 60Hz monitors on the sides 3)Game profiles allow eyefinity to start up as soon as a game is launched and then go back to normal setup once it is closed There are some hassles in setting it up and can have issues, but once I went eyefinity mode, it's become almost claustrophobic to play with a single monitor.

Was using two 32" monitors for productivity, and that was nice. I then decided I wanted a larger central display for gaming and got a 55" 4k120hz tv. Gaming is sweet on that. For simulators, I just tried getting 3 monitors to work, but the mix in size/resolution causes nothing but trouble. I end up running in 2560+3840+2560 = 8960 x 1440, with a black bar on the top of the 4k. I'm still struggling with refresh rate (central display defaults to 24hz), so I totally understand the frustration of setup. If you're doing triple monitor, get 3 of the same!

ive been running (4x) 24" sceptre monitors since 2008? man its been a long time, and believe it or not as a full time programmer for the manufacturing industry i use ALL of them, yes all! there are times i use only 3 but i never much use less than 3. for gaming i use just 1 but everything else is 3 to 4. it is absolutly essential to have this many moniitors with the multiple softwares i have to run simeltaneously. and believe it or not i am just now looking to purchase a tripple, yes tripple monitor setup but this time all in 55" monitors. the only reason i did not go with 4 is because its not needed as the size of the 3x 55" monitors is so extreme and takes up so much space compared to my current 4x 24" monitors is that i just dont have the room for a 4th lol. a multi monitor setup is extremly beneficial. in both time and ease of use. the cost for the multiple monitors is definetly worth it for me but im a rara kinda critter as well, not many people are doing what im doing but for me, they are great, and i wouldent have it any other way :)

Everyone has one screen… Most people have two screens (Comes standard for office jobs). If you want to stand out, you have to get three screens. Bottom line: the pros outweigh the cons by far when it comes to triple screens.

Oh absolutely especially with 144hz and 1ms! - It's so worth it because I'm a Computer nerd/geek I freaking love it. I can do so many task/things and do whatever I want and streaming/recording comes easy.

I think games should be in ultrawide or super ultra-wide thing... triple monitors are for productivity for sure,... it's just easy to focus on work without having to alt+tab between the window just to see the part you are looking for. I feel so frustrated having to think (where is that window,.. ah there,... and goes back).

I have 3 monitors, it's nice to have them but i rarely make use of the 3rd one, i feel like 2 is ideal for gaming / productivity unless you have a specific use for that 3rd monitor.

I don't think any of the downsides you mentioned for gaming are downsides. My first thought with 3 screens isn't "Wow playing my games on 3 screens with be great" my thought is its gonna be nice to have other things visible while I'm gaming on the middle moniter. If you enjoy gaming on multiple monitors great but you don't have to just because you have them.

I have now a dual monitor both 60Hz I am used to it and played with the top players in some competitive games. Since i got a bit older i started to realize that a new monitor can make me improve my gameplay even more, that's the only reason why i should buy a new one... If i would buy a 240Hz monitor and use it as my main gaming screen will the 60Hz feel laggy when am just browsing on it? I never played on a higher hz monitor so i can't tell how it feels.
