The problem over here is that you can be at the bottom of the normal range, symptomatic and they still don't want to treat. Happens with thyroid panel, iron and b12 specifically.
@youngerlab

Very good point. There are, unfortunately, caveats and exceptions to almost any of these tests. Thyroid hormones, as you mentioned, could look normal in a peripheral blood draw, but not work properly in the brain -- central hypothyroidism. - Jarred Younger

I also don't understand why clinicians don't look at the symptoms and the tests that show someone just inside the range and determine that, since they are symptomatic, they should be diagnosed with xyz. Not every single person fits in the same box. Especially when comparing women to men, race to race. In fact, if that same symptomatic person gets so bad that they fall outside of the range, then doesn't that make them *very* sick at that point. It's dangerous. Believe patients. I get people are looking for pain meds, etc but if your patient has never asked for them, then they are probably just want B12 or whatever.

@@youngerlabmy mom said the same thing and has been taking thyroid hormone since the 80's. It's good to hear it from a scientific source that blood tests can be deceptive. My mom said a basal temperature test when you wake up is the better measure because it's measuring symptoms of thyroid deficiency, not blood levels based on an average.

I know how medical surveys have to be worded. The survey has too many of the same questions and not correct choices of a tire answer to match symptoms. Way to long of time to complete with repeat questions. We poor sick folks use free government cell phones and internet services. This does not allow to pauses then continue the survey. This is causing us stress because we want to positive support your research. I ask support group folks and no one could complete your survey. Too long to respond on cell phones. Please correct by not having same question repeat control. cell phones ran out of battery time. We do not always get internet service in this area. Most public internet use is limited to one hour or less time Or we have to buy coffee or food to stay to connect to business internet. Most folks are below poverty level . You need to question how this affects disability. I can not afford to buy all the supplements and vitamins on 900.00 dollars of SSDI and SSI. Or afford functional medical doctor visit. Untill I got free government cell phone and internet I would not known about your research. My question about your research is how correct treatment is going to be paid for by Medicaid or insurance. Insurance companies have never lost profits. Know the day you will die. If you are honestly developing a treatment who will profit from we the disabled folks. Can we afford to pay cash for treatment you develope. Been there for 38 years

When I began taking 10k IUs of D3 during the pandemic, close to 75% of my fibro symptoms went away!!! It blew my mind. No prescription I’d taken till then accomplished what that did. My doctor was concerned at the dosage, but that hasn’t posed a problem over the past three years. Mind you, I’m black and “fluffy,” so I know ethnicity, weight and as you mentioned, sun exposure, affects how much we should take. Lately, I’ve added 100 mcg of K2 with that. Now that I’m not spending every ounce of energy battling pain and fatigue, I’ve been able to focus on addressing other deficiencies and eating from the best food sources I can get.

That's amazing - I really glad to hear that! As you probably already know, there is a strong genetic component to Vitamina D absorpton. I can't know in your particular case, but it is possible that you need the high level of Vit D supplementation just to overcome genetically-driven low Vit D synthesis, absorption, transport, utilization, and/or metabolism. There is probably a company that would run tests for those variants, but I don't know immediately who to recommend. - Jarred Younger

Can I ask you how many days passed before you felt this benefit? My wife has been struggling with fibromyalgia for 3 years, and so far the only thing that has significantly reduced her symptoms within just a few days is the ketogenic diet. Given that fibromyalgia is a multifactorial syndrome and the causes are not evidently the same for everyone, we are willing to try anything that can alleviate the symptoms. Thank you

@@simonep3443 Actually I started with keto first which led to me learning I needed more D3. I focused on healthy keto (vs dirty) for six weeks, and that alone was a big help for seriously reducing probably fibro flares. But it was about two-three weeks into taking D3 when I realized it was making a significant difference. Most of the flares that I still deal with come from either the weather, me pushing myself too hard physically/doing too much, or me going back to inflammatory foods. I hope your wife can find some relief soon. It’s so inexpensive, it’s absolutely worth trying. Good Health to you both! 💕🫶🏽💕

I've been seing doctors for 20 years for a mystery breathing problem that none could diagnose other than "it's in your head". It ruined part of my life. At the very thick of my last ongoing crisis (went twice a day to emergency for not virtually, precisely 2 years) I eventually found out, with the help of one these geniuses doctors (I don't know of another) that I had severe vitamin D deficiency (precisely 7 of the given metric). I've complemented (one bulb of 80.000 IU of vit D a month, lifelong). After a month, I was feeling OK. After 3 months it was gone. Problem solved. That was 8 years ago. (more precisely, it was hyperparathyroidism, that appeared to be secundary to vit D deficiency ; textbook in endocrinology).

This is such a great video! When my chronic pain started, I was so desperate for answers. I fell down tons of medical journal rabbit holes, including this exact topic. Scary story about medicine in the US... I spoke with my Dr. and brought up magnesium and vitamin B12 specifically based on my symptoms. My Dr's response.. . "Yeah, IDK. We don't really take many classes on vitamins." He shrugged. I pushed for tests. I was met with an eye role, but finally, he agreed. (To no surprise of my own) Guess who's tests came back as deficient in magnesium, b12, and vitamin D? 🙄 I'll be honest. Getting these balanced out has not cured my chronic pain. But I 100% can tell you it helps a small amount. It's definitely not a fictitious "snake oil" cure as some providers will lead you to believe. Sharing all of this to say to people in the comments... be your own advocate. Don't let a Dr. Disregard your concerns. So happy to see videos coming out that make this information more accessible to the general public. 🎉🎉🎉

Good advice, but it's sooo complex to get it right. I messed my brain up with a combo of drops to get the EBV out, thyroid meds and kelp, and ever since I'm super-sensitive to anything, including supplements. I respond to them within an hour and 'know' which to take and which ones to skip (that's around 90%). Oddly enough I do better on cyanocobalamin than hydroxo- methyl or adenosyl, but only accompanied by 5MTHF. And lately I've been wondering if the universal B12-deficiency, also in meat-eaters, is not just a result of a potassium shortage...

Thanks for another informative video! Glad to hear you found a solution to your palpitations. I had some off & on, also some HR spikes as measured on my FitBit. I seem to have gotten better after taking vitamin K1 100 mcg. I had been taking K2 (MK7) 45 mcg, then added the K1 after some bleeding issues. My diet is restricted due to MCAS symptoms - lately have had neuropathic pain when I eat brassica veg (I think it has something to do w/ TRP channel activation as I also have issues w/ allium veg, peppers, heat/cold exposure). I have since dropped the K2 as there is an epidemiological study linking dietary K2 to breast cancer. At first I thought, well, all the K2 foods in the American diet also probably have oxidized cholesterol (cooked cheese), but after doing some more reading it seems like K2 itself could possibly be an issue. OTOH, before I started the K1, I had also been eating Jarlsberg cheese 20 g / day for bone health since it contains DHNA as well as K2, & noticed some improvement in the heart issues, but it did not completely clear it up until after starting K1. Interestingly my vit D was at 106 - too high. I had been taking vit D 5000 IU per day & was worried my daughter would also be too high since she had also been taking it, but hers was 45. She had not been eating the Jarlsberg (not a fan of the taste even tho she loves cheese). She has Celiac, has been on GF diet for yrs now & when she first became ill she was not deficient in any vitamins or minerals, tho vit D was suboptimal. So I'm not sure why the difference in blood levels of vit D. I do go outside more than she does. She weighs 15 lbs less than me but probably has higher percent body fat. So I don't know if the difference was due to sun exposure, Celiac, or Jarlsberg cheese consumption. Also, my daughter's HRV & resting HR may have improved a bit since starting K1.She's recently been able to do 5 min on the recumbent bike. prob. She meets diagnostic criteria for ME & POTS. We should probably repeat the POTS stand test to see if she has improved. Since she no longer wants to go to the doctor (really bad hospital experience) I had purchased Life Extension's Vegan panel for $85 on sale - which includes most of the main micronutrients you mentioned plus thyroid & lipids & CMP-14, and added on homocysteine for a bit more $. Blood draw was thru Lab Corp & they only took 4 vials. I'm interest in CVD markers since she had HBOT as a newborn & there is a rat study showing disturbance in lipid metabolism as adults after neonatal HBOT. Anyway, everything normal, but LDL suboptimal at 99 (should be 70 for a 21 yr old). They did not report anion gap, tho & I think it might be high if I use the carbon dioxide number to calculate it comes out to 14, but I'm not sure if that's the same as using bicarbonate (not reported on their CMP-14).

the real question is: why would you wanna eat a diet where you get vitamin deficient by default? why dont you eat engough meat? you rrealize humans are carnicores in the evolutionary context - right? also, you look like you're metabolically unhealthy, chronically inflamed (you're holding too much water) and "skinny-fat" (meaning, muscle too low, fat too high). pro tip: switch to a low carb paleo diet (excluding all grains and industrially processed foods) and see what happens. you gonna be suprised! tip 2: put all the food you eat in an average day into a tool like cronometer and see how your nutrient coverage look. on a proper paleo diet you will be able to cover ALL nutrients (incl. vit D, B12) just with food.

Have you heard of Dr. Nicholas Gonzales? I just learned abt his work (he died 2015). There are lots of YT interviews w/him➡he describes in detail the facts proof re: one diet/food plan does not work for all people, & presents the researchers from late 1800's & 20th centuries whose research documented the differences. Based on an earlier researcher's work that our Autonomic systems' proclivity toward being in sympathetic, para-sympathetic modes, or balanced versions between those poles, results in our bodies may actually require the opposite of /or a mixture of whatever is being touted as THE diet all humans were meant to/ should all be eating...He talks very fast, but gives detailed info re: how each physiological system is made ill when, for eg carnivore diet is being used by a person whose physiology/Autonomic system needs plant-bases. I haven't looked at them yet, but he & Dr Linda Isaac came up w/10 different types, tho they don't force/pigeon hole folks into them...His main work was w/cancer, and his mentor discovered connections re: foods that worsened particular kinds of cancers, & based on the individual, foods, together w/Vits, minerals, enzymes that shrunk/disappeared the cancer..eg .on stage 4 pancreatic tumors. Mentions that application of same correct-for-individual foods cures ME & Fibro...

Meat allergies are a thing, brainiac. And, in evolutionary terms, sapiens are and always have been omnivores. Our digestive systems are structured for an omnivorous diet, and some anatomical features adapted to eating plants, such as flat molars. In fact, some say that humans have more characteristics of plant eaters than omnivores, and lack the anatomical features of meat eaters. For example, humans have trichromatic vision, while meat eaters have dichromatic vision, which makes them essentially colorblind.
