Ivan Estrada, here's some advice my old older brother and cousins gave me before leaving for Marine Corps recruit training. It applies to all branches. Physical training, do more than your final PFT requires. Your PFT requires a run of 1 1/2 miles, you run 2. Do push ups and crunches anywhere and as often as you can. As for the academics, memorize as much as possible before you leave. Memorize the tank structure, your general orders, the nomenclature of the parts of the M-16, etc. While your platoon mates are memorizing that you'll have time to look at what's coming next. You'll always be one step ahead. Good luck bro.

Plenty of women go in and love it, sexual harassment happens outside of the military as well. Being a woman in general puts us at risk all of the time, but all you can do is prepare (rape whistle, pepper spray, always go with a wingman, etc.) but realistically you can get assaulted by a family member, you can get kidnapped and thrown into human trafficking by just going to the grocery store, it's not just the military where women have to worry. If its something you want to do then do it and don't let anyone scare you out of it. If you're in and something by chance does happen then report it and dont be scared to speak up because it's never your fault. For the most part though AF doesn't have a fuck ton of cases and the cases they do have typically happen I'm AFSC areas that are heavily populated by macho men so artillery jobs, special forces jobs. Statistics can be higher in those areas. If you go intel, medical, flight crew, stuff like that you eeally dont have much to worry about. Plus most airmen will make sure you are safe and taken care of because theres a big sense of comradeship. My partner is retired Air Force, my friend is Army Guard, and I'm currently in the Air Force DEP waiting on my job contract. Just dont let anything scare you away from such a huge opportunity

I personally have not experienced it so far in my career. I've only been in 8 months. This happens in the military and out like Chrissy said. We implement the "wingman concept" extremely hard due to this. It is SO important to know your boundaries and voice them. If it is overstepped PLEASE contact a supervisor ASAP and if its your supervisor go up the chain of command. There is a NO TOLERANCE policy for sexual harassment in the Air Force. It will be investigated ASAP from what I've seen. Vanessa was let down and it breaks my heart. It's so important to look out for each other as females because some women cannot stand up for themselves. I love being in the military and the endless amount of resources we have. Every supervisor I have experienced genuinely cares and fights for overall wellbeing of their airmen.

They never answer lmao, try to look up for info and look up for his name on instagram, many recruiters have instagram pages where you can find them to ask questions and post info, for right now theres many that are doing all the paper works through the phone but you might be required to go to their office to sign papers and take the ASVAB and then go to through MEPS

christinaisawesome10 the whole process starting from when i went to go talk to my recruiter for the first time up until i leave took me about a year but its different for everyone because i had to finish high school first obviously but if i wasnt in high school and i wanted to leave asap the recruiters do their best to ship you out fast

If you just google practice tests for it a lot will pop up that's what I used and I got an 87 on the PICAT. I will warn you though, when I went to MEPS they made me take the ENTIRE ASVAB instead of the PICAT confirmation test and I didn't know that would happen so continue to study even after the PICAT in case that happens bc that switch up caught me off guard and affected my score (74 on the ASVAB so I got over 10 points lower than the PICAT)

BMT will get you out there for sure. I feel like if you are unsure about school, military is a great way to start. You could even commission from there! You get free housing, food, and a paycheck while getting school credits for FREE!

Covid is a "big deal" right now because there is no vaccine, theres no cure, there's no way to do anything about it and medical professionals are having to build the plane while flying with this virus. It might be a "nothing virus" to you but taking precautions for the wellbeing of soldiers, airmen, marines, the navy, etc. ir a priority because if the military gets fucked by the virus then we are vulnerable as a nation. Yeah a few flights won't get the full experience which sucks but you have to look at the bigger picture not just "oh well it's a nothing virus". It something we don't have any research or knowledge on and we have to take certain steps to be precautious while the world is still trying to figure this thing out. People probably thought the Spanish flu was nothing and then look what happened.

Honestly the AF is extremely picky and your process might have been easy because you may have not had any weight issues, dependents, past surgeries or health issues. Generally people who don't have kids or a spouse and are healthy have a smoother time getting in. Plus a lot of recruiters are extremely busy, especially now with COVID. But I joined before the pandemic.

I failed cuz I dont wanna balance that with having my first job rn. Gonna get in shape 6 months before pt.

Hey there! I just saw this comment but I just made a couple of videos on how to prep for the PT test! I will be making more fitness military related videos on BMT prep and what to expect at PT in BMT! What have you been doing to stay fit? First step I think is the most important is to start running. doesn't matter how fast, but just get running. Start for 10 mins add 5 mins.. Keep going! I'm doing this thing where I run 1 mile per day minimum for 40 days straight, I'm on day 5 right now and sometimes I have to walk some parts but running is really emphasized in the military!

So the day you ship out to BMT you’ll go through MEPS for the last time. Once you’re there it’s there to the air port to BMT.

You do not, that is an option. Find someone who can give you more info from you school about that! And you can get free education through the military, and get any degree you'd like.

You don’t have to join afjrotc but I would highly recommend it! Your rank in jrotc can be taken with you into the military as long as it’s not higher than an E4 ! (You can only go into the military with an E4 as long as the afjrotc instructor writes a recommendation-like paper for it, otherwise the highest is an E3. Ask the instructor at your school if it’s possible)

Jonathan Blanco there is 4 or 6 year for active duty. If you sign for 4 you still have reserves after that for another 4 years.

That is IF you choose to not re-enlist

That’s only something the army does and I think they are not offering it at the moment shortest contract for Airforce I believe is 3 Active Duty but that is not currently offered, recruiters only offer 4 year or 6 year AD the length of all contracts is 8 once you are done with AD you would enter Individual Ready Reserves which means you can get activated during that time but don’t have to drill regularly, you can also opt to do the additional time in your contract to be in the guard or reserves or Active duty.

Father Chrissy I hope so too! They don’t do CBRN anymore and BEAST is totally different now. I was able to go through basically all of BMT before I was sent to medhold, basically 5 days from graduation. The flights now are currently 25 ish and used to be 52 because of social distancing. It’s such a strange time.

Amber Tantog flights are still big, they’re all around 40/50 but flights are spaced out for marching and basically everything else.

I was overweight as well. It is possible! think of this as your JOB to lose the weight, you are expected to hold a high standard of physical fitness. You got this! Look into macro counting/caloric deficit is the only way to lose weight! Usually recruiters won't talk to you until you make weight because being overweight is a disqualification, however you have the choice to lose the weight and get yourself qualified! Have a reason to join and go hard!

Rylee Arnold, don't be nervous, be excited! I know, it's a natural reaction to be nervous about the unknown. It doesn't have to be. There are tons of vidoes out there that show what recruit training is like. Watch them. Talk to any family members that went through it. The best advice I can give you is the advice that my older brother and cousins gave me. "Think of boot camp as a game. Your DIs are going to teach you the rules of the game. Once you learn them, play by them. A word of caution, the DIs cheat. The reason behind it is, they want to see how you think on your feet. They want to see how you react under pressure. Another thing is, memorize as much as possible now. Memorize the rank structure from Pvt (E-1) through General (O-10). Memorize your general orders. Learn all the parts to the M-16, etc. Also bone up on Air Force history. All these things sound crazy but it helps in the long run. While your platoon mates are learning that stuff you'll have a chance to be working on what's coming up. Best of luck to you.

Having hemorrhoids is a DoD disqualifier unfortunately. But I fought my way back to training and the surgeon general approved my turn over. It took a while to get back in but I'm so glad I waited and fought it out. I'm at my first duty station now!
