@@lilf22 Oh true my bad I was looking at seatguru and misunderstood it. Wasn't hating, just was looking at the seat guru for a similar flight :) cheers and enjoy the trip with your father
You are leaving at 4:30 pm and arriving in France at 5:45 am, so you are not getting decent sleep and arriving so early that you've totally F'ed yourself for the day. That's why the points were so cheap.
I have heard, over the past couple of months that I have been on a few international flights, where I also ran into a mysterious delay in getting the door unlocked so it could be closed after take off. As you found how you can lock and unlock your door for your security, being able to close it for a period of time after take off where it acts like it's locked open and no one seems to know how to get it to work depends on airline policy for many carriers other than US carriers, that seat doors need to remain open until the craft reaches cruising altitude, at which time the flight crew can switch it so passengers can control their own doors. This has apparently come about due to safety concerns after a couple, and I mean only a couple, of incidents where planes have had to return due to mechanical difficulties and land back at their starting airport, and being heavy experienced a hard landing that caused doors that were closed to get stuck closed. Being worried that if this happened during an emergency where there could needs a fast evacuation people would be blocked. Apparently crew doesn't want this to be announced and make for nervous passengers, or passengers getting irritated when freeing the doors for use is like the last think the pilot's remember to do, they don't want people badgering the cabin crew into contacting the flight deck to remind them.
Dan, that Clarins Afric in the bathroom is amazing. I went to buy it after my first trip in business class on AF. Jfk and Sea are so lucky to have the A350 flying there. SFO still gets B777s twice a day. Not cool.
HAHA, amazingly I've never flown AF as KLM and Alitalia/ITA have been getting in the way, it seemed! I'm waiting for an Air France short-haul within Europe in a widebody, and then maybe I'll film THAT one :) Looks like great flight, and def the lounge food footage was my favorite of this whole thing because I love all-you-can-eat dining LOL!
Was in AF's A220 when flying from Geneva to Paris on May 2023. Was flying business and got the left (A) seat, so I got to seat all by myself too. Not surprisingly, A seats were quickly running out before people had to choose D or F lol.
I flew Paris to Tokyo and back in a 777-300 new bussines class in seat 9A. Amazing flight. So much space, nice food and very friendly crew. A pleasure. Specially being my first bussines class flight
I flew AF for the first time ever this year, return to Paris from Ho Chi Minh City in a 777-200 premium economy. The service and food was far and away the best I've ever had. The flight attendants made us feel special. I wish they flew to Australia.
Had the opportunity recently to try AirFrance’s Business class seat in both their Boeing and Airbus variants. It was astounding the difference between the two, the Airbus product I can’t recommend enough. Learning about the space differential between the front row and everything else was a pleasant surprise I had since I happened to fly in A4.
I just came back from Europe on their A350-900. Amazing business class, great service, very comfortable flight and pleasant crew. Can't recommend it enough now.
That’s a wonderful video! May i add a lille correction though, contrary to what you said, this product is fully bespoke. It’s not based on an existing product. I know because I’was part of the design team at Design Investment the company that designed this seat. Thank you again, especially for those beautiful shots of the cabin.
I flew Air France business last year. It was nice but they tended to the off duty staff and not paying customers. They often had attitudes when you ask for something. I had to remind her that she didn't bring my meal. Smh
Hey Dan and Oscar, Max here 🫡 I’ve been a fan for so long ! I’m so happy to be featured in your video and glad that you enjoyed it. Au plaisir de revoler ensemble ! Max
I actually just did this exact route in the exact same seats in august. The crew on my first flight were nowhere near as good as yours or my second flight. (Pre departure beverage never collected, no bread offered, no wine offered, no sugar or chocolate with my espresso despite asking for both) Small things but inconsistency really made me fume when other passengers seemingly got much better service.
He’s mentioned in other videos he wanted to become an airline CEO due to the prestige, income and ability to be in aviation. Thanks to us, he was able to make enough to sustain himself, travel and learned along the way that prestige is irrelevant.
Was really hoping you'd re-review AF J again. They've slowly become my favorite trans-Atlantic carrier. Hopefully KLM will reclaim that spot someday soon.
My experience with Air France and KLM have been the complete opposite. With KLM everything was fine. Nothing too special, but nothing was bad. With Air France, it started out well with a great breakfast, but everything went downhill from there. On a 13+ hour flight I only saw the flight attendants the first 2 hours and the last 2 hours. For the rest of the flight, they were nowhere to be seen. Couldn't even get something to drink. I'm taking the same flight in 3 weeks, so hopefully, I was just unlucky.
I live in SW France and mom came to visit me. She flew from Orlando to Bordeaux on Air France and loved her flights. She said the flight attendants were absolutely lovely and she wants to fly Air France when she comes next year!
The reason you didn't get wifi on this aircraft is because since it is brand new, AF only installed the new Starlink wifi system and didn't bother installing the older system. Since the starlink contract debuts in January 2025, all newly configured a350s have no wifi until January 2025 !
The A380-800 will always be my favorite airplane, but the A350-900 is definitely my second favorite. It’s not as quiet as A380 and lacks the two tiered classes as well as space, but it’s definitely more comfortable than ANYTHING boeing has.
Hi Dan, hmmm....interesting, just interesting, Iar France's A350 looks nice, but I bet the Emirates A350 Business class would be out of this world, oh can't wait to see the reviews. I ❤ Emirates, be flying with them soon also in economy, but I don't mind because Emirates Economy is still soo soo soo much better than other Airlines Economy class, Can't Wait
Beautiful cabin, love the navy Air France uses throughout their upholstery. Also, it has been said numerous times that the A321LR/XLR can be used on busy long-haul routes when demand may be slightly lower, where a wide body would be uneconomical. I know it is fashionable to hate on narrowbodies going long-haul (but everyone still fanboys over the 757 regardless), but we need to be more fair.
I honestly feel like air france made KLM their budget airline which breaks my heart since I used to love KLM for their extra roomy economy and yummy food and chocolate! I'm glad air france is becoming more and more nice since they are my go to airline travelling but I wish KLM was back to its former glory not a premium Ryanair!
Dan, I am so glad you finally decided to review Air France's latest product. I will be taking my first Air France business class flight next January to Hong Kong, and I've managed to select seat 1A, which is the exact same type of seat in your video. Great to be able to get a little preview of what's to come.
Fabulous vlog…love it…you are such a kind person worrying about Oscar…I dream of flying business class and it is on my bucket list. Just appreciate that I was lucky enough to fly to Europe twice this year..take care ❤xxx
LOVE the new AF A350 J cabin. My one beef : The crew close off the forward toilet for exclusive crew use. This DRASTICALLY reduces the toilet/ passenger ratio AND it is about 60% larger than the two left for the business fare paying passengers. BAD look AF. Soviet era stuff! I have raised a complaint about this in my flight feedback.
@@kevinmau1992 the friendlessness of the cabin crew, quality of food or indeed, the dirty floor, toilets etc should not be tolerated on any class. On that trip, we flew with 3 separate international airlines. Travelling with children then the price for economy is enough.
this is a very singular experience given that there are only 4 such-given seats (like 10A) in their business class hard product. Yes, it is wonderful. But would your experience have been the same in any other given regulation window seat in AF Business Class? I flew them 3x in the past spring on board the A350 in biz. It was the best experience for a European carrier (and way ahead of any US carriers that can’t hold a candle near AF). Always great and fun content and experience narrative. Thank you!
Great review! Thanks for getting the shots of the standard food options. I was lucky enough to get two of the latest model A350 business class seats Paris-Tokyo for 70K Flying Blue miles each, late last year. A fantastic experience (apart from not being able to sleep due to the baby in row 1) - almost 14 hours and I did NOT want it to end. The food and wine is just fantastic and the service warm, friendly and professional.
I fly SFO - CDG several times a year and love Air France. The food is better and the lie-flat beds are great. On the 11-hour flight, I sleep 8 hours and avoid jet lag. I am a wizard with Flying Blue mileage charts and get the best deals. I find a Biz seat for about 50,000, but I am flexible in my dates. The costs vary enormously: the same flight costs 700,000 points one day and 50,000 the next. Here's a tip: after you select the flight and proceed to pay, you are given the option to use fewer points and pay more. So, use 60,000 points and pay $200, or 50,000 points and $300, or 40,000 and $400. Since this is a great exchange rate, I always choose to pay more money. So, I can end up with an SF - Europe biz fare of 40,000 points!! Bon voyage!
Good video. Taxing pre-flight beverages is something that the air-travel industry could do without. The tickets have already been taxed. Not a fan of CdG, but I quite like Orly.
My husband and I flew IAD-CDG (exactly 1 year ago today, coincidentally) on a 777-300ER after being swapped from the A380-900. However, that meant we got moved from Row 4 to Row 1! Yay for middle bulkhead seats! We were also not offered champagne before departure, and I thought my door was broken bc it wouldn’t open before takeoff. I quickly learned that they lock them for takeoff and landing. Silly tourist girl. 😂 Because of their amenity kit, I am now a regular user of Clarins Hydra-Essentiel face mist. 😉 CONGRATULATIONS on leveling up, btw! My hubby paused on your first screenshot of the points exclaiming, “Wait, how can he see La Premiere availability? Is he Platinum??” 😅🎉
Dan! Love your videos and big fan of yours! I’m excited for my next AF trip on business class this winter! I’m dying for a review of the new Air India business class from New York to Delhi. I know I can’t trust any other reviewers than you so I’m hoping my comment gets your attention! 😅
So SAS really takes on something, when they serve Champagne in their Business Class pre take-off from EWR? I just appreciate the flight I took more 😊 I really liked the possibility to bid on an upgrade, when you booked SAS Plus. Got lucky, and the 250 € bid per person for my family was accepted, as we flew back to Europe from EWR...
Anyone else notice that you can’t see the Rolls Royce logo on the engines in the take off sequence? Must be the only airline that blanks out the logo of the engine manufacturer. Although I’m sure that wouldn’t happen if it was a CFM Leap engine - because it isn’t made in Britain like Rolls Royce. Sad and petty.
You just highlighted everything that is wrong with legacy airlines these days, Great lounge with free facials? hmm ok. great new business class seats. yeah ok. so you are saying that premium products are premium? but how an airline does in terms of first or business class service is certainly not indicative of what their overall service is. I know that economy class travelers don't matter but service in that class is really indicative of great service. and for this, Air France sucks. most US and European airlines suck but AIr France perhaps more especially this year when economy class fares have exploded. on long haul flights, flight attendants on AF just disappear for 80% of the flight (at least on KLM they are more attentive). Service these days is much better on Asian airlines and maybe here is something controversial but Chinese airlines have a better service in economy class than Air France, KLM, Delta etc. even Emirates these days is not great. but again economy class travelers dont matter except that with much higher fares than before, well they pay for some of that comfort. also go and try an intra european flight with AF.... hundreds of euros for crappy crappy service. also any airlines that has CDG has a hub.... and I used to fly with them quite a bit for convenience.... just not worth it at current fares. and in other new, the Waldorf Astoria is decent
I got to experience this new design during my CDG=>IAD flight. Superb. There's something really cool about the lit-up Hippocampe logo on the headphone compartment. Bravo AF!
Ahhhaaa typical Air France who will always deploy Fancy brand new Aircraft to the US & Canada, but will deploy its older B777's and A330s on its flights to Asia.
WOW....vive la France! I also have never heard you so effusive about a flying expereinence! Another great review Dan, thanks for bringing Air France to our attention, it does look lovely!
Is there available for 'special mileages collecting rewards' by using "one world 🌎🌍 member"? Because both British Airways, American Airlines,Air France and Japan Airlines?
As a former AF flight attendant, I remember some nations forbid breaking the seals on the alcohol compartments. Alcohol could only be served while we were airborne (and sure we were not returning to the airport for any reason). On the other hand, in countries that allow us to open, we could serve alcohol while still on the ground. This is how it was 10 years ago. Make sure to check with a current attendant in case regulations have changed
Not even when it was for everyone criticized, I found Air France to be a bad airline. Of course you won't see the standards in attention of Aegean (and I'm not Greek btw but I think is the best airline of Europe), but Air France has always delivered good value putting aside some of its crew (10-20% which is a low number for what we see today) being some rude
Dear Dan, Try to fly AF on the African routes such as Bangui, Douala and you will see a total different environement! AF sucks in Africa exept for the Big destination such as Jo'burg! Enjoy your flight!
Recently booked row 10 middle seats for mine and my wife’s trip to Italy. I’ve seen some comments about the restrooms and possibly a bassinet near them. Did you have any issues with noise or smell in Row 10? Thanks!

This reminds me of how Jetblue created extra space in their A321neo bulkhead suites called the Mint Studio. Both take advantage of there not being a passenger in front to give you plenty of extra space and I love it
I can only confirm that Air France is on the rise and KLM has fallen. My experience is on B777-300 economy on both and Air France could not have been a better surprise, FA attitude (they hung my office shirt in Business for the duration of the flight), great food, IFE screens working like a charm! KLM was tight! uncomfortable, the odd good part was the delicious pancake breakfast.
is 912 dollars cheap plus tax? hmmm seems very steap or at least equeal to a bagain ticket inestead of payuing full price. Don't know how much they were...
Create videos Dan! :) Maybe sometime I¨ll can afford to save some money and take my kid to travell business class. I would be in the tourist class, but I would care :) Well back to work now
Sounds very sad, but if the plane doesn't have the tailcam set up, and it is an aircraft offers it, I will choose another airline out of principle. It is a crime that anyone has willing chosen not to have it. Helps with disorientation for me massively, so think it is a great feature.
I guess you have been in different AF lounges in CDG. The one I used most recently was super crowded. Hard to even find a seat. And the WiFi sign-on is some non-standard crap that doesn't work under Firefox, so I found I had to use an ancient version of Chrome to be able to get the login page to work and hence be able to use WiFi.
Now take a look at their safety record and the number of incidents due to pilot error that they have had, they also hold the dubious accolade of having had the most aircraft crashes of any airline in the world….I will not fly with them.
What happened? The French and Dutch governments own almost 40% of Air France-KLM meaning that more of the huge taxpayer-funded subsidies given to airlines during Covid were actually invested in the airline rather than simply ending up in the pockets of shareholders as was the case with its 100% privately-owned competitors.
Three crew and one hr wait to get the seat door unlocked? Whaaa ? Singapore crew would have done it right there and then. Or even ba crew …. It shows how bad af crew have always been with pax service.
Air France owns klm Air France has positioned due to nationalism Air France the premium brand whilst klm is pushed down to the economy sector. The standing joke about Air France internationally get you there in newer planes, however your luggage will join you in a couple of days if at all.
Dutch people don’t like to spend money and everyone knows about the reputation of Dutch food. So it’s totally logical that AF is the more luxurious airline.
