Thanks for watching guys! This video features a LOT of different mods. If you want info on exactly what I'm using, post a message in the ARMA 3 text channel on my Discord server and I'll let you know. Also, we squad up on ARMA usually every fortnight. If you want to join in as well, once again, hit me up on Discord. Discord - discord.gg/zCCVqXUG95

You’re definitely right, but a huge deal of the performance problems has got to do with optimisation of missions. As someone who builds missions myself, I can tell you there are ways to ensure decent performance. The more players in a server though, the harder it becomes.

I finally bought all dlc (including Contact) for Arma3 just yesterday after playing the hell out of it and Apex the last few years. Then there's the new Prairie Fire DLC etc that looks really interesting. Nope, this game is going nowhere... Only wider, deeper and more complex... :) Would love to see the Angola War (1975) visited as it hits closer to home than most of the current conflicts presented.

Mmmmg! Watching the video makes me want to play ARMA 3 again. When discovering the ARMA-series, I discovered that not the action-stuff was so important to me, but combined OPS stuff, that typically gets nerved in all other shooter: A10 runs, 100 tanks (if you want them), Artielly, Carpet bombing, Nukes - it is all there, and there are other people who enjoy that stuff with, too. And it even is sort-of balanced in some modes! Really neat game for people who like simulations with _some_ action in there.

1:40 Afaik, the simulation company (Bohemia Interactive Simulations) has been entirely spun-off and the companies no longer interact as they used to. The confusion isn't helped by the fact that they're both called Bohemia Interactive, use near identical logos, and that the Arma3/DayZ company is still commonly known as "BIS" for Bohemia Interactive Studios.

When I first saw ARMA3 I absolutely fell in love with it. Yes it was complicated and yes there are so many wonky quirks to it, but my goodness the freedom and immersion that it gives. I never liked the run of the mill, toxic, run in, die and respawn shooters out there. It's the game that keeps on giving and the community surrounding ARMA3 is excellent. But the though of a new and improved ARMA 4 does make me giddy. Until then though ARMA 3 still has A LOT to offer. Great video!

Bought this game in 2018 before I knew too much about it. I've put an embarrassingly small amount of time into the game in that time. I think partially due to time limitations, and at times it is overwhelming the amount of keys to remember etc. That said, time I have spent in the game I've thoroughly enjoyed - even before adding in mods. The freedom to do whatever, however is fantastic and I really need to find more time to dedicate to it. I might have to fire it up again this avo.

Vastly different but there is so many options in this game you can play any game you want. Think of it like Roblox of military simulators. Not to mention how complex all of the equipment and vehicles in this game are and like he said get to know every fuckin key on your board. But when you find the thing you like in this game and master all the keys it is a very rewarding feeling that you won't get from other fps games. You aren't worried about k/d you are worried about your performance and being a team player.

Love the video, btw I'm now considering about buying this (I watched a lot of Arma 3 video like making mission, firefight tactic) but my friends aren't play this which I really don't mind just want to know that if I buy this and play alone (making mission play alone and download community mission to play alone) is it worth?

I play almost always alone and have thousands of hours in the game. It's just multiple games in one: you can spend hours creating missions, you can spend hours playing missions, you can just explore the huge maps that are available, it's a low key flight simulator, you can play realistic milsim type missions or fanciful spy missions, whatever you want! :-)

I love arma 3, I got into mil sim by playing operation flashpoint dragon rising and fell in love with it, I bought arma 1 and 2 on an old pc and actually built a pc so I could play arma 3 and its fucking amazing, I mostly play single player and have a blast. I would really like to get into mission making in the future though

Well for me the hardest thing was learning all the keys, I had done my homework watching videos on what to do when it's your first time playing arma 3. Trying to get my friend to purchase this game but due to COD, Siege, battlefield, etc... I don't think he will buy cause that's what he is used to playing. I hope they make an arma 4.

Same here. I watched videos for a couple years while waiting to build my pc. Idk about you. But I think when my friends hear how much you can do from me and that I’m still learning a lot after 3 months, turns them off to the idea. Like this “they see you pointing at the moon, not the moon itself.” I’m trying subtlety in my approaches and I can say, three of them are building PCs and getting ARMA now. Tom Sawyer those son’s a bitches. Btw I have 90% of my gameplay as Zeus, it’s the main (not whole) reason I play. As an rts player, this is the closest game I can think of that plays like a game of D&D with your buddies, a fps and an rts all in one delightful package. D&D was their inspiration for Zeus and I LOVE creating and playing out scenarios.

Yeah key can be tedious to learn at first i must agree ! Just to say, me and my friends were all playing COD, then BF, then siege... but one day i've found Arma and you know what ? We all loved it. I'm sure if you show to your friend few videos he will *at least* be interested. I convinced my friends to join me, and it's been now 7 years and a half that we're all playing. May be you should show to your friend those ones: Luetin09 "what can a new player expect ?" , Viper1Zero "top10 reasons to play arma3 in 2020" and from official arma3 "33 things about arma3". To talk about arma 4 sadly i don't think it will comes until many years ; they are currently still working on the new engine which they will make their games on. If the engine is not ready, it means arma 4 can't even starts to be developped, and to give you an idea arma 3 took 7 years of development before release. So yeah, they have to finish the engine first, then at least 7 years for arma 4 if not more...

You can hear where the shots are being fired, just know the first sound is the bullet hitting the ground and the second is the actual shit being fired.

Nice! You sure it wasn't VBS3 or VBS 4 as BI aka Bohemia interactive created Arma 3, whereas their sister company is the ones that make the simulations which is called VBS 3 and 4 thats what the military use. Not that you could train in Arma 3 i've done it with my milsim back in the day just wondering if your mistaken BI for BIS (Bohemia Interactive Simulations (VBS 3/4 devs).

Good points you mentioned. My opinion of course Arma 3 is still worth it, yeah it may have performance issues etc. The modding community is amazing as well as the eden editor to create things, it may be a bit janky & intimidating by novice users. It's no COD it's unique in it's own way though. I still play it because of such variety of what you can do.

the concept of table top gaming and military gaming goes back hundreds maybe thousands of years.. dnd got its roots from whole scale battle map planning games but ultimately the goal was to have a single unit experience which lead to dnd and other table top games which then lead to video games like this.. just a little history on the subject..
