On October 19, the Brookings Center for 21st Century Security and Intelligence hosted a discussion in context of General Shirreff’s new novel, “War with Russia,” while also touching on other related areas of interest. General Sir Richard Shirreff (Ret.) of the British Army joined Michael O’Hanlon of Brookings for the discussion.

While Russia does not have the best interest of the Baltic states at heart, the country does have a point about NATO knocking on the door. Let's not forget we went crazy over Cuba in 63.

6 years later and this lot have been doing everything humanly possible to antagonise Russia, almost like they wished for the current scenario to unfold Then you get this chap talking utter nonsense and propagandising the facts. The fact is undeniable. These chaps are crazy

Is "a real possibility" real? I mean, isn't it a confused phrase implying nothing?

I am puzzled how these seemingly well educated, smart people cannot see the difference between the Baltics and Ukraine from Russia's perspective. Crimea is also very different from the rest of Ukraine, especially the western parts which were always of less relevance to Russia.

General Sir Richard Shirreff knows his job. still Muscovy is a gas - station, "Nigeria with snow"

With snow, and nuclear submarines and hypersonic nuclear missiles. How many submarines have Nigerians manufactured? How is their aeronautic education? UK

@@mikeutube7888 With cost of “black gold” at 15-23 dollars per barrel, the USSR economy collapsed, and the sovok itself collapsed, and the "golden" horde ("russia") budget can only be fulfilled only with oil price at $ 42.4 and higher
@mikeutube7888
@mikeutube7888 3 года назад
@@eugenlitwin5887 there is an aesthetic associated with “gas station” which is unflattering at least as it appears to me. True it’s not much of an economy if it’s survivability rests on one export. Because the balance of payments turn the other way. By his logic England was a crack house circa 1830s. It’s all history. Is Russia a gas station today? Maybe. maybe not. But if it were running automobiles are useful. Drug addicts are less so.

@@mikeutube7888 do you agree that Moscow empire produce 1% of the world economy and can't challenge the free world ?
@mikeutube7888
@mikeutube7888 3 года назад
@@eugenlitwin5887 according to this logic England should not have been able to challenge China and India circa 1820 as both combined had 20x gdp of England. I don’t know what challenge means in contextless statement. My answer is maybe, maybe not. Economic output is useful during peacetime. In wartime economic mobilization tends to be resource heavy and here is where Russia is an absolute undisputed heavyweight and England would be more or less a beggar. Germany had the better economy, the better military, etc…but in 1943 when they couldn’t break through Stalingrad to get to the Caspian oil fields their fate was sealed. Peacetime output is meaningless in context of total war.
