Is Assassin's Creed Revelations a good ending for the trilogy? (2024 review)

Today's video is a review of AC Revelations, the big bittersweet finale for Ezio Auditore and Altaiir Ibn Laahad. The trilogy is truly an amazing story that I had a blast playing. Next up is AC3 but until then, I'll probably make random AC videos so let me know what you're interested in.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you're interested in more AC stuff!

I loved the armour system and the assassin system which could have been implemented in most games although AC Rougue implemented it

It really surprised me when I went back to these games just seeing how many interesting systems we gained and lost along the way with these games. The Brotherhood system could have been soooo amazing to have in Mirage. Actually... I think you just gave me an idea for the next video, thanks friend

Based on my recollection of what I have seen over the years, your opinion is definitely in the minority, but I think it's a valid one to have, definitely. It has been ages for me since I last played any of the three Ezio, so I guess my "rating" of the three is mostly based on how I remember the games from back then and the impression I have on them combined with all the content surrounding Assassin's Creed that I have consumed over the past years. Based on that my order would be Brotherhood in first followed by Revelations and then AC2 I believe, though ideally I would play them all again for a proper updated opinion (but I doubt I'll do that). I'm generally not someone to go to deep into "analysing" games, like the characters, story etc. and instead go mostly by feeling when it comes to how I like them and in that regard I simply prefer Brotherhood. I prefer Rome over Constantinople, it introduced the Assassin recruits first which I just found so cool and new at the time, meanwhile in Revelations, while still cool, they were "just there again" and didn't feel as special to me. This could maybe also be because in Brotherhood you're more involved in building up the brotherhood, while they're generally well established already in Constantinople. And in tandem with that, the Assassin outfit in Brotherhood is just perfect, definitely my favourite in the series, and having the recruits wear it too when they are maxed out is a nice bonus that way (even if it kind of makes it less special for Ezio if "everybody" uses it). What I absolutely agree on though is that the game brings a great close to Ezio's and Altair's story (you also mention Desmond in the video but his story is not complete yet?). The final scene in the library in Masyaf is just amazing - Ezio, after all he has been through, having traced back the life and memories of Altair due to an old letter of his father, whose death set his entire journey into motion, coming face to face with the remains of the legendary mentor, bringing a close to what his father could not achieve and also realizing what his role in all of this was, that he could just leave it all behind, knowing that the mysterious "Desmond" was still there to continue. Idk how I ended up yapping like that just now but I'm also not gonna delete it again lol. Found your channel a bit ago, enjoying your AC videos. I usually never really comment anywhere, especially on such content and with actual productive comments like this, maybe because it's usually on bigger creators who get enough feedback already, but I wanted to show my appreciation. And if there is one thing for AC3, while it's not exactly expectations, make sure do do the homestead missions! They're great.

First of all, I really appreciate you taking the time to write this much. I love talking to people about stuff that I like, it’s the whole reason I started this channel. And honestly if you have any ideas for videos it would also be nice to hear what you’re interested in. I think that if I had played the games back when they released then I would have had a very different opinion of how they rank, I think that a massive part of my love for Revelations is just how much better it holds up compared to the other games in 2024, the lack of that clunky AC2 feel really let me enjoy it to the fullest. As a whole, the Ezio trilogy is an amazing story and it still blows my mind how well the three games fit together. Ezio and Altair are both done justice in the best way possible. I never understood why everyone thinks of Ezio as the father of the assassins when Bayek is more influential to the creed. But now I really appreciate the protective figures that Ezio and Altair both took in the brotherhood. I could gush about the story and themes all day man… When it comes to Desmond, I felt like it was a finale in the sense that we got an explanation to what’s happening and where Layla comes into the story, I guess I should have played AC3 before commenting about Desmond cause now I researched it and found out that he’s in 3, I felt so much more interested in him with brotherhood and revelations tho, in the first two games I couldn’t care less, so I love that. Again thanks for watching and taking the time to comment here, warms my cold heart to see fans of the series still being passionate about it, I am so sick and tired of the non stop bitching that goes on online

Not sure if I have anything specific I would like to see, I generally just watch what catches my interest and often times also just have videos running as a sort of background noise (can't have my brain NOT stimulated as much as possible at any given moment!), so what I would watch has quite the range lol. But trying to give a proper answer, considering that this video finishes your reviews of the Ezio trilogy, something related to that? In your reviews, you have your opinions on each game by itself, so maybe something along the lines of comparing one certain aspect of the three games, like the setting, world design, maybe the side characters/allies or the villains or even Ezio as a character himself throughout the three games. That's the first kind of thing that comes to mind for me when thinking about this. I'm not really sure how something like that would turn out in terms of video length which would also depend on the level of detail you'd want to approach this stuff with and also just in general if that's something you would want to do to begin with (writing this myself it kind of gives me vibes of all these "all AC settings/outfits/[best/worst] missions/combat/etcetc. ranked" videos; not that that's inherently bad content to do but with how much of all possible shit I've seen of this kind I have kind of developed a "content-milking" connotation to this type of videos). And also as a side note, having spoken of Ezio as a character throughout the three mainline games, if you haven't already I would definitely recommend you to check out Assassin's Creed Embers! It's a roughly 20 minute long CGI short film, set about a decade I believe after Revelations, and basically serves as a conclusion/epilogue to Ezio's life. And for your last paragraph, AC was a big part of my childhood, I played all the games until Unity when it released in 2014 (man, I was 13 years old back then...) and enjoyed them all. After Unity, idk why, I ended up not catching any of the new games for a while and when I got interested in them again, most (basically all?) online discourse I saw at the time was trashing all the newer games (partly even just everything post Ezio lol) for "not being a real Assassin's Creed anymore" and shit like that. I'm glad that there have been quite a bit number of people "defending" these games. I picked up AC Syndicate late last year when Ubisoft gave it out for free and apart from the two Nier games I think it was a welcome venture away from "gacha hell" again, I enjoyed it so much that I ended up buying Origins and Odyssey in advance since they were on a good sale (I picked up AC Origins + the two big DLCs and AC Odyssey + Season Pass iirc for like ~35€ total). Went straight into Origins shortly after I finished the main story (surely I will come back to all the side stories one day °_>°) and damn... it is indeed very different but also still such a great game so far. Last time I played I killed the Hyena, so I still have quite a bit to go, but just the world alone is so stunning and I think that is one of if not the biggest factors for a "real Assassin's Creed game" to me. While being such a distinct departure from all the previous entries of the series, it's still very much giving me the feeling of playing an AC game so far, even if it's more a Witcher-inspired RPG game and by extension also just way larger, even if it's lacking the densely built cities that are tailor made for cool parkour sequences and some other things you would probably attribute to a "classical Assassin's Creed experience". I yapped quite a bit again and already had to shorten and rewrite the entire second part and I think if I were to continue, it'd just turn into even more actual yapping just for the sake of yapping. At the end of the day, as I stated before, my most important point is whether I enjoy playing a game or not, so reading over this again has me questioning how much of this I just want to be the case because I enjoyed the games, since I am writing this stuff mostly just based on what comes to my mind without actually having gone into much deeper thought about things like what a game needs for it to "be an AC game" for me. When I've spent some time writing stuff like this, at the end of it all I always wonder what it even was what I originally wanted to say or get at and it happened here again but I still think I got a decent point across at least lol

We're almost the same age then! I was 14 when Unity released, I actually had it the exact opposite of you, I played Black Flag first and then stopped and continued with Origins and onwards. Funny how someone my age played the exact opposite games that I did in the series. I would definetly reccomend you finish Origins and especially it's DLCs. Odyssey is amazing too in my opinion but I seem to be in the very very small minority with that opinion. One of my focuses with this channel is to try and keep a light tone with mostly positive talk. In my opinion every AC game is at least 7/10 and it's really important to not lose sight of that and fall into endless complaining. Bit of a personal issue but... the country I live in is at war right now, luckily me and my family are safe and only few people I know got drafted, but this situation really opened my eyes to how much I take everything in my life for granted when it could all go away in an hour, so I'm trying to appreciate the good things in life. And exploring far away lands through AC games has been an amazing escape from real life as of late. But anyway, thanks for the ideas for videos! I really want to try this youtube side project think but playing and reviewing a whole game every week is very unsustainable especially with University, but on the other hand I really don't want to "milk" content and make videos for the sake of it. So getting some interesting ideas for topics to talk about is really appreciated, thanks again man!

I do plan on fully finishing it, naturally and I'm sure it'll continue being a great experience all throughout. Only problem for me for quite some time now has been actually getting to get started, not just related to Origins specifically, but just generally, so I end up thinking early in the day that I'll play later, maybe in the evening, but then end up struggling to actually get started e.g. because... yeah good question why, I'm not entirely sure what it mostly is. Meanwhile here you are, I did not even realize these last few videos were all roughly within a week of each other, damn. And it definitely does sound like quite the task alongside uni, especially considering that it's not just playing the games but also making the reviews. Don't wanna get yourself burned out, so definitely take your necessary time. Also hope you and your family stay safe and the situation ideally gets better if there's any chance of that happening any time soon (I don't want to incorrectly assume what country you're from based on just your voice, especially since I'm not exactly sure what I'd guess anyway tbh). I've had the luxury of not having been confronted with these realizations in such a direct way yet, but even for other things, yeah games like these can really help with just getting one's mind away from things.

Don't worry about guessing the accent, I'm Palestinian/Israeli/Hungarian so my accent is hard to guess for most people. idk where you're from and how familiar you are with the situation going on over here but I know Arabs (like myself) who were taken into police questioning simply for mentioning the war online, that's why I keep my talk vague. Dealing with the situation takes its toll but these videos and comments really help me keep my shit together. I don't mean to victimize myself, but I sure hope that cooler heads prevail and the situation calms down soon.

I don't like the setting for this game. It should have been set in Spain instead, with Ezio traveling to Madrid for the majority of the game, and then travelling to Masyaff castle near the climax of the narrative. Spain was teased in Assassin's Creed 2, which was where Ezio and his family wanted to originally escape to before residing in Monterichioli and starting his journey as an assassin, so it would have been a nice pay off from AC 2 Edit: AC Revelations should have been Assassin's Creed 3 in my opinion, instead of the Assassin's Creed 3 we got, so going from this straight to AC 4 Black Flag

I can see where you’re coming from, through the entirety of AC Brotherhood I kept expecting a whole new Madrid map. It was specifically on the world map like Rome and it seemed set up to be a two city setting. I assumed that Chezare would escape there and Ezio has to track him down in Madrid. Was really surprised that it didn’t happen. And I can only imagine how much bigger and better Revelations would be if the resources of AC3 were poured into it. But I’m happy with what we got to be honest, amazing finale in my opinion

I'm interested to see if my opinion is in the minority like I expect it to be or not... I think that this game puts the other two to shame easily. A step up in every way
