‘Salvation is healing’. I have never heard it defined like this. Thank you very much.

I really love the Orthodox priests and church due to their grasp and knowledge of history and theology. They truly remember all the Church history and theology, and they constantly talk about the Councils, the heresies, the creeds and doctrines. I guess this constant remembrance of all of their history is why they aren't susceptible to heresies and modernism. They remember that there is nothing knew under the sun whilst in the West, because we've forgotten our Christian history, are reinventing the wheel and are unarmed against the heresies of Arianism, Universalism, Gnosticism and Protestant legalism. The Orthodox remember their history and so already know why they are wrong.

I love the Greek explanation of salvation. The Protestant Legalism of explaining salvation as a legal transaction seemed so empty, loveless and ugly. But to explain salvation as "restoration and healing to the perfection God created us for" through union with the Holy Spirit and becoming "Christ-like" in form and action, is so rich, full and loving. It gives so much purpose to actually Act in the present and future whilst Protestants think of salvation as a one time event with nothing to add.

One of my seminary professors once said that the only answer to the question "Are you saved?" is "Yes, I have been saved by Christ's life, death, and resurrection at Baptism, I am being saved as by grace I live out my life in Christ throughout my life, and I will be saved at the final resurrection when I shall enter into the eternal worship of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." I should note that I am Episcopal priest who has been exploring the richness of the Eastern Church in my retirement.

It's important to make the distinction between Catholic and Protestant theology of the West. The Orthodox view of Baptism is in perfect harmony with the Catholic view. So, too, is Orthodox soteriology, which Fr Panayiotis explained. Many of the great teachers of the Eastern Church are considered Doctors in the Catholic Church. The once-saved-always-saved penal substitutionary view of Christ's death on the Cross is not Catholic. Catholics speak of infused righteousness, ie as St Paul writes, "..because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us" it doesn't speak of imputed righteousness; although like Fr Panayiotis mentioned, imputed righteousness is not a problem, as Baptism is more than symbolism, ie. it affects an ontological change in us: a washing, a regeneration, a new creation. We go from one degree of glory to another, from righteous to more righteous, in a state of grace, if we remain in Christ; obedient to his commandments and cooperative with the Holy Spirit. Theosis and theoria are very much in harmony with Catholic teaching, unlike what is broadly found in Protestantism (although Protestantism is all over the place theologically). We speak more frequently of divinization and contemplation, but they are corresponding terms. I actually prefer theosis myself, and theoria has less mis-associations that come with the term contemplative prayer. While Catholics speak of "satisfaction" being made on the Cross as one of many aspects of the crucifixion, this is NOT to be confused with penal substitution and its claim that the Father poured out his wrath on his beloved Son to make propitiation. Make note of what the Catechism states: "It is LOVE 'to the end' that confers on Christ's sacrifice its value as redemption and reparation, as atonement and satisfaction. He knew and loved us all when he offered His life." This corresponds to St Paul who writes, "...live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." Note "fragrant" which is something of beauty - a gift. Orthodox theology of the Cross is equally valid and rich in the meaning it draws out, and so too, the connected theology of the resurrection of our beloved Saviour. We enter, through baptism, into the great paschal mystery of Christ's death, burial and resurrection. Orthodox theology is affirmed and shared by the Catholic Church. I love your channel. I love and value Orthodox iconography very much. It is powerful for its beauty, precise theology and instruction. Your reverent and beautiful ancient liturgy is magnificent too. Faith working itself out in actions of love is simply reflecting who we are as new creations in Christ. Baptism is part of our identity in Christ, a kind of entrance into that New Covenant.

I would like to add that Jesus is actually named Yeshua. and lo and behold, Yeshua means Salvation in hebrew. You find Jeshua in the Bible often. In those instances, the hebrew says Yeshua (ישוע). So in the septuagint, that name is translated to Iesous and latinized as Jesus. Yeshua ben Sirach and Yeshua Ben Ananias both have common translations to Jesus. It is just important I feel, to know how important the name is. It means Salvation.

Can you please help me understand your baptism position? If a child is baptized, is it just a thought or an actual real empowerment and being joined to Christ, a new creation? Also, if it’s actual and real, if they never grow in faith, do they lose whatever it is they received at baptism? Is it a loss of something they once had?

Christ has never baptized in water however in death he was in a rocky tomb and that's a true question I have I'm taught we're baptized with him

Do you believe that a believer will not go to heaven when at the death bed he is doing sinful act by lying and cursing? what about those priests that fell to sexual temptation and pass away before repenting? Are they going to hell or heaven?

I agree except the baptism of infants, because baptism must be precded by repentence.

Jesus was baptized why??? To fulfill his ministry of dying and crucified and ressurection.

It's also a declaration to the enemy. I'm on God's side, and will work to save others from your evil plans. One more soul working for the great commission.
