Good financial comparative analysis, Dave; appreciate it, since I was one of those asking for it! I can’t disagree with it, either. I’ve been disappointed these last two years in their scale up rate; as pointed out elsewhere, hopefully that will be rectified soon, if all goes well. As you (essentially) point out looking at the cash burn and cash available numbers, if there IS any significant delay in getting those new birds up and revenue producing - for ANY reason (the sats themselves, Electron/Rocketlab, whatever), they are going to be hard pressed next year as those curves start to cross. BUT…if they can make it, they seem, I think, to have their part of the market mostly to themselves, for the natsec industry. - Dave Huntsman
Yeah at least among publicly traded companies they seem to. From what I hear their biggest advantage is actually the analysis platform they perform on the data.
Important to remember that RDW is a space systems company, supposedly a $20bn TAM, while BKSY is a space applications company, supposedly a $320bn TAM, and with much higher margins.
I haven’t been in the space game for super long, so picked BKSY up a few months back (in the green 🤙🏼.) Found the warrants and started buying them as well. I agree as stated above, once up it’s essentially opening up new contracts and receiving cash. A revenue “light switch” of you will. 300k warrants so hope they do something big!!
I think Planet Labs is pretty interesting. Maybe not the greatest growth right now, but seems pretty solid. Not putting a lot of money into it, but picking up bits and pieces as I go along.
I think the blacksky spending is set to drop dramatically. They have been burning cash developing their gen3 Satalites the first of which will be launched later this year. Once you have the sats in the sky its basically free money for them from then on out for the lifetime of the sats.
Yeah; one launch problem can really set them back, tho. But, I believe they continue to stick with Electron, which while it doesn’t have a 100% success rate, hopefully they’ve gotten to the point now where they can keep on keeping on. But, they are more exposed to ‘launch risk’ relatively, than, say, a PL is. - Dave Huntsman
Appreciate the analysis. I’ve been a long term investor from their Spac days. Still believe in their technology and market TAM. But disappointed in their C level execution . They also could have done more with their palantir tie in. And they have not capitalized on their AI technology
I feel like there's so many companies like Astra, that just try to hype with big words and get that Silicon Valley VC money. I would need to do more dd on this, but I feel now just like you, they just don't know...
Blacksky is currently hiring for more positions than any other leading space contractor aside rocket labs there will be substantial growth from LUNR and BKSY cmon Dave!
Good overview... I sold out of black sky taking a modest hit, then they diluted and dropped further... Bought RKLB with the funds 2about $4.50... Good decision obviously...
Thanks for this great Perk coverage of more cool meaningful space player(s). Dave, the Buy a coffee or member support options are inactive? BKSY third quarter results and outlook on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. EST. Last update on Gen 3 launch was in August?. Wondering How to receive launch updates, at earliest?
Hi Dave, hello. If you are already dealing with space stocks....especially like BKSY, I recommend you check out its competitor, the ticker PL, it may be that it is already leading in terms of results and contracts. And another thing, what do you think about LUNR and JOBY for long-term holding....I would appreciate it if you did a little coverage on them And give your opinion at the end 🙏🏻
I wouldn’t consider PL and BKSY direct competitors, actually. While both are in the EO/Earth Observation space, PL is heavy in the daily, civil applications with ultra-small satellites; while BKSY tends to focus with slightly larger satellites on defense/national security applications. Different customers. - Dave Huntsman
@@ואליו I’m biased; I think those three ex-NASA guys have built a hell of a commercial company for the long-run. I’ve always liked their basic thesis of daily raster-scanning the planet with the extremely small satellites that are easily and frequently replaced & then - & here’s where the money comes in- applying all the different conceivable types of data analysis to it, whether it be for agriculture or urban reasons, no matter. - Dave Huntsman
As an investing enthusiast, I often wonder how top level investors are able to become millionaires off investing. . I’ve been sitting on over $545K equity from a home sale and I’m not sure where to go from here, is it a good time to buy into stocks or do I wait for another opportunity?.
Find quality stocks that have long term potential, and ride with those stocks. I have found it takes someone who is very familiar with the market to make such good picks
I agree with you. I started out with investing on my own, but I lost a lot of money. I was able to pull out about $200k after the 2020 crash. I invested the money using an analyst, and in seven months, I raked in almost $673,000
Thanks for sharing. I curiously searched for her full name and her website popped up after scrolling a bit. I looked through her credentials and did my due diligence before contacting her. Once again many thanks.
