I love this approach. This is such a much more relaxed way of looking at healing instead of only one way. I have been so caught up in the dogma of one way myself. I struggled with brain retraining and found out my histamine was so high. My antihistamine herbals help me greatly be able to calm down and allow me to feel into the body. I also have nutritional deficiencies that I am working with a functional practitioner on as I calm my nervous system down. I agree the nervous system is foundational but sometimes we need support to even access the nervous system healing and then a bit more support to correct deficiencies.

Yes! And they go back and forth... we need to regulate in order to have other tools work, but also sometimes we need to use the other tools before we can use the limbic skills!

I totally get what you’re saying… I do DNRS. And they are strict about talking about symptoms. For me, it was very important as I was obsessed with my symptoms… But I didn’t ever get the impression that they expected you to just ignore them.

This seems like excellent advice! I am only about two months into brain retraining. I enrolled in DNRS before I knew there were so many options to choose from, didn't love it, so have been sort of applying it where it works for me and improvising the rest with strategies from you and all the others I've found. I've been recently improved, but now having an "adjustment period" (a la Miguel from CFS Recovery). Your advice seems perfect to keep in mind as I go forward, even though I don't feel too inclined to buy into dogma. 🙂 Thank you for what you are doing. (Also, sorry to hear that your daughter has to deal with something so serious - that stinks!)

I'm so glad to hear your feedback! I love taking the a la carte approach to create your own program that works best for you!

Fully agree 💯 it bothers me how black & white/absolute some of the retraining programs are.

Great points - thank you. Just FYI tho, if eye movements bother you for some reason with EMDR. you can-use paddles in each hand, or have the therapist tap on either knee.. Lot's of ways to get around that issue.

Yes! ❤ I can relate to that... Nervous system work is very important but why cutting out everything else if it helps? It still can be the basis to do the nervous system stuff but I think everyone is different and if there is still work to do/help needed during/after brain retraining then why not? 😊 Not doing anything else besides brain retraining is too strict for some people..... Everyone wants to get healthy, right? 😬

yes I realized breath work makes me dizzy

same! breath work and eye movement doesn't work for me at all... but I love nature, hiking, sound healing, yoga, sound healing, etc... which are all just as good for your limbic system but harder to quantify and teach which I think is why many programs leave them out!
