Glad you've liked it! To answer your question about the motorway in front of the cathedral - the answer is quite simple: communists. The communist party wanted to build a bridge for their panel housing on the other side of the river, so they have destroyed 1/4 of the historical center to do that. It sways because it is a suspended bridge, it has no pillars. I used to hate it as well but got used to it. It wasn't built by the soviets, it was built by us :) You probably just confuse soviet and communist and socialist (soviets were the CCCP [Soviet Union], russians; communist was the only ruling party, both in Czechoslovakia and in the Soviet Union; socialist was the type of government). Sad (orchard) Janka Krala is the first public park in Europe. (The biggest one is in Dublin) Again Kofola isn't soviet, it is our product :)

So many people tend to make the same mistakes, when visiting both Bratislava, and Košice, the 2nd largest city in Slovakia. They only wonder around these cities in the streets for few hours, and then returning back home, still thinking that our country and cities don't have much to offer, but they couldn't further from the the truth. Both of thesec places have so many intriguing museums, cathedrals, churches, castles, Zoos, and many attractions, which would take much longer to visit all, than just in one day. Also, the reason why St. Martin's cathedral is not because we were once part of the kingdom of Hungary, but since it's the oldest church in Bratislava, so well preserved to this day. We Slovaks are really sensitive about our history with Hungarians, because they were extremely opressing us in the past, prohibiting Slovak schools, and forcing Hungarian language upon us, and even shooting down 15 Slovak protestors, so it's really not a good idea to talk about it out loud in the public. P.S.: You've missed one of most wonderful sites of Bratislava, the Manor house of Rusovce, which is currently in a bad shape, however a revitalisation of this place is on the way

The rudeness and boredom of this city takes some beating. Take my advice and avoid. The taxi driver's are literally criminals that make up huge prices.
