I have had hypertension for years and am currently stable with use of medication. I recently had a near anaphylactic reaction to my 3rd infusion of Taxol. I have been monitoring my BP, especially since I have to take steroids for the next few days. I'm concerned about what chemotherapy I will be changed to. I am fighting my cancer with strict nutrition, daily exercise, sunlight exposure, and positive thoughts. And, I am relying on God's strength. I have been watching all of your videos, and I thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge.

Another fascinating video. Thank you. I have long suffered from hypertension that was managed successfully by hypertension. My breast cancer treatment (chemo, surgery, Herceptin) didn’t affect my BP. However I stopped adding salt to cooking and meals and reduced my meds by half.

Wow, so 110/60 is what people should be shooting for? When did that change from the current guidelines of 120/80?

Target blood pressures of lower than a systolic blood pressure were part of the 2017 guidelines from the American Heart Association in people who have risk factors for heart problems. For people who have been treated for breast cancer with some of the chemotherapy and targeted therapy that can hurt the heart, under 120 mmHg is prudent.

Hi Dr Jennifer, Thank you for the informative videos, they are very helpful. Can you please answer my question if possible? I was detected with metastatic ER+ and Her2 - BC on the right breast in 2017, treated with Chemotherapy alone and later with endocrine therapy Ribociblib and Letrozole with ovary suppression shots. I have been NED since then with an excellent response but in my last scan they said that they saw some clusters (11*7*22 from ultrasound) of calcifications in the same breast as treated earlier but in a different area, biopsy confirmed that it was DCIS G2, I have asked for surgery but they denied saying that it was not useful at this stage and instead recommended for radiation 5 cycles next week onwards. I am a bit concerned about radiation alone being used what are your suggestions?

Good question. In people with metastatic breast cancer, such a finding will not negatively impact survival. The biggest threat to survival is the metastatic cancer. If there is an increase in the size of the abnormalities.

Madam, I am now undergoing traztuzumab inj.Completed 9 inj after surgery.I am 59 years old.My BP is 135/85.I do excercise daily.Whether medication is needed?

Thanks for writing. Your blood pressure is not super high. If you've limited salt and are sleeping well and exercising, medication may be helpful. This would be something to talk about with your primary care physician who knows and can follow you.

Hey dr Jennifer why r u not answering😢 My mom has hormone receptor +ve, her 2-ve breast cancer she is undergoing treatment of 8 chemos then surgery then hormone therapy How can we reduce chance of Reccurance and if possible complete stop it from Reccuring🙏

I would suggest visiting and talking to your oncologist who would have more knowledge of your mum's particular case. A You tube presentation can only address common issues and not particular case specific issues. Good luck !

We respond within 1 to 2 weeks or even sooner. Thanks for your patience. Based on what you have written in previous comments, your mother is getting comprehensive care. It sounds like she is doing everything she can to decrease recurrence.
