Back in the 70's, 80's and early 90's in Qld they were called 'Bevans', then changed to bogan with southern state influence im guessing? I still call them bevans.
Back in my day they'd be called Bevans in Brizzy, what NSW called westies. Fleno's ,thongs/plugaz, wini redz, V8's and AC/DC. Bogan is new school and those who 'wernt there'
I’m so glad you made a video about the Boganism present in Brisbane. IMO Bogans aren’t defined by Economic level due to the now common “Cashed up” Bogan. The type that drives large jacked up utes, the type that has JetSkis for the whole family, the type that takes Bali holidays every 3 months. IMO those are the blight on Brisbane, boorish and uncouth but rich.
🤣🤣 I absolutely love this!! Comedy Company, Fast Forward and Full Frontal were my favourite shows. Growing up in Kingston, we were called Bogans from Logan 😅 The compulsory Holden Commodore was a favourite boganmobile.

(Qlder since age 8, here.) During high school, in Nambour early 80s, we didn't have _bogan_ in our vernacular, but we did have bevan. For the car-centric bevans - hooning or even just doing feckless laps in bomby old cars - we also had the term _Terry tappet_ - named after the engine component. "There go the cops again - cause all the tappets are driving 'round Mooloolaba, and then going over Alex Heads and doing burnouts in the carpark up there. 😄"
I had to laugh at this! I am originally from Queensland, and when I moved to Tassie and started dating my now-husband, he used to call me a bogan for being from Queensland! How the tables turned, Rob, when he heard you say Tasmanians are the biggest bogans in Australia 🤣🤣 i laughed soo hard. Incidentally, my first car was also a Torana!
There is a fine line between regular bogans and white trash housos. The CUBs (cashed up bogans) however, are easy to spot; Ford Ranger, jet ski, trips to Bali, P&O cruises.
😂I’ve got a couple of Bogans across the road & Im an ageing Bogan there are Black Fella Bogans, Asian Bogans, Lebanese Bogans and Islander Bogans we are everywhere 😂
When I moved to Queensland 2 years ago it was like stepping back to the 80's and love it. The one thing I noticed when arriving here is Queensland is the capital of Mullets Beards and Tattoos

Southern states like to call Brisbane a bogan city because it makes them feel good.. BRISBANE is a very middle classe city these days.. It's ok Rob i use to live in Eagleby 🤠
Logan Bogan is still alive and well here in Logan. But growing up in the 80s and 90s bevins and bombers was common for teens who wore roller shoes and mostly black clothes and flannies and hungout at train stations. There were many biifs
What a great way to start my morning here in this 3rd world country I now call home.. I went to great deal of trouble to explain to my wife ust what a BOGAN was a long time ago and showed her videos of great Aussie TV shows featuring bogans.. Housos was a favorite.. Excellent idea to make a SERIOUS SHOW about us mate... Brizzy will love 'ya.
Rob that Mullet & Flanno would've earned you "Bevan" status, I still have 2 Toranas, a Sandman Ute, a Camaro, a Clubsport, & a Caprice so I'm guessing I'm bonafide!
Nice one Rob! My first car was also a Torana. And I now have a VE commodore Ute. And like heavy metal music. But live in Ipswich. I pay for my groceries though lol.

What do people get wrong about Brisbane, well 99% of people in Brisbane cannot recall basic facts about the Brisbane River, it's history, depth, the location of flood plains, where the river starts, major tributaries ect. I dare say 99.9% don't understand their own water storage systems either.
@@sammo5786 I'm not sure extensive waterways knowledge has ever been common knowledge has it? It seems like a special interest or something one learns at uni during a very specific degree. Nothing wrong with having an interest in it though!
@@aussiejubes exactly my point about people in Brisbane. Most people who experience droughts and don't have the luxury of turning on a tap without thinking past their immediate desire for water have a base level understanding of where their water comes from and the creeks/rivers around them.

Grew up in Sydney (St.Marys: Westie); lived in Launceston for 2 years and now live in Redcliffe Brisbane. And yes, Tasmania definitely IS the bogan capital.
As a 30 year resident of Woodridge (Logan City, rhymes with Bogan) I resemble that remark. Beenleigh is not a Bogan hotspot (although Eagleby might be) but good old Logan City ~ (where the Federal Treasurer comes from ~ eh?) That's a different story. I don't think I can take Rob seriously. For one thing, he has a Mullet deficiency. For another, he was born in Sydney, and for a 3rd, he doesn't just admit it, he flops it out there in casual conversation without even any foreplay. The lesson about our early Premier, that was welcome. I though being Queensland's Rat-Bag Premier started with Jo Bjelke. Do you think Russ Hinz ever did a burnout on the freeway? It was his freeway, so why the f*** not?
Comedy gold!!!😂😂😂 Yeah originally from Sydney as well and I remember in the 80's and 90's Brisbane, or moreover QLD was seen as a backwater, with no work. A lot of that mentality still hasn't changed in Sydney. I remember telling people I'm moving to QLD, and the responses were, "what are you going there for? There's no work in QLD!" Indeed, times have changed. There's plenty of work up here. Besides I'm not paying a billion dollars for a cupboard like Sydney! Bogans are everywhere across Australia. Tasmania!😂😂
I kind of wish the flower bougainvillea was spelt boganvillia… there’s a function room at HSW (Howard smith wharves) called bougainvillea and only bogans get married there 😅

You're a fake bogan. Your spelling, grammar and understanding of the English language gives it away! No bogan could form a sentence as well as you did.
It had its fair share of Bogans, but then Bogans started moving here from the southern states. That pushed the Brisbane Bogans North to Rockhampton and Cairns, the Cairns Bogans to Darwin and the Darwin Bogans to Alice Springs and Perth. This great migratory flow of Bogans left all of the crazy people south of the Queensland border, getting crazier the further south you go. According to this theory, there are no Bogans left in Tasmania at all. Perth has a Papal Dispensation for insanity, that and the Nullarbor Plains quarantines them from the other southern states. It all makes perfect Trumpian sense.
