If I could repost a video on youtube I would. This video is excellent. I can't tell you how many times I've messed up putting my bike on the sleds. Hell I messed it up last weekend. The whole video reminded me of the first time I went to Bryce and was scared out of anything that wasn't sundowner. Great stuff.
I totally agree, Bryce is a great beginner friendly bike park (it was my first too). Kudos to Hope and Bree, they were killing it! Great coaching and video Zane.
A lot of bike parks have beginner trails and entry level features to build up to. Highland Bike Park has a great intermediate trail called Cat's Paw that has medium sized trail features, with go arounds on all of them. Don't be intimidated by all the videos and try a bike park near you. They are so fun and you'll be hooked.
Cat's Paw is legendary, and one of the best intermediate trails on the East Coast (along with Blue Magic, Jump Start and Gronk). I forget the name, but Thunder has my favorite green trail. It's fun no matter your skill level, and you don't even need to brake. Takes about 15 minutes for a beginner, and if they don't like that trail, they won't like anything. Highland opens 4-28 btw ... Already super excited!
Heading out to Bryce on Wednesday as part of five day full send “weekend” that includes Cacapon and The Shed. I’ll definitely be giving this vid a rewatch!
I took my wife and 8 yr old daughter there for the first time on Father's Day. They had never ridden a bike park before and definitely have never been doing jumps. We started off riding Sundowner 3 times straight before my wife and I got bored. So, I checked out Brew Thru and Old Fashioned solo before taking them down in tow. The second half of the day, my girls were riding Old Fashioned (slow'ish pace) and Brew Thru (avoiding the wooden drop and the steep switchbacks). It was a great time!
Nice vid I'm a new rider having done more gravel and asphalt with some light trail. I'm going to spend a long weekend in the area ant hit up Bryce and Massanutten. These video's are great for previewing the trails.
Point is to be able to do this on an XC bike(X-caliber) without going over the handlebars and get skills before moving onto more difficult trails. I have been watching multiple video's like this on both parks. @@splooshmtb
Bike parks can be intimidating in many ways, one of those intimidation factors is more experienced riders. Whether it’s in your head or people actually say/do something, you can feel sorta out of place at times. Awesome to see videos like this.
I totally agree. While many of us don't speak on it. There's definitely a "park culture" with the experienced riders and I don't think any new rider should shy away due to that. They're just stoked on the riding season and have committed harder to it. It is pretty awesome to just sit back and watch how good some riders are sometimes!
This was great for me ...nice video...just got into MTB last fall riding my hardtail....so i just upgraded to the Salsa Brickthorn ... and can't wait for opening day 2024..it's all about fun...see you out there
Have you been to Snowshoe? They're supposed to have a much larger selection of trails and greens that transition a little less aggressive to blue. It's a hike from NOVA, so haven't been yet.
Been trying to get my friend (who lives in MD) to go. He won't admit it, but I think he's probably scared, which is obviously understandable ... This was really helpful though, and hopefully convinces him to finally go. Great video, opening day is May 5th!!
@@splooshmtb if you’re up in Michigan without beginners try Boyne Highlands, it’s more legit. Boyne Mountain has a couple black diamonds, but I’d consider them more blue.
