Native Canadian here. I came back after 25 years and Canada has change not for the best. Salaries are no longer enough to provide a decent living. Housing is ridiculously expensive. Violence is a lot more prevalent. Canada is going in the wrong direction and part of it is unrealistic mass immigration.

I moved to Canada as a single young man ( Edmonton )last year. I was doing not bad in my home country ( 3rd world ). I came to try to find a better future and a better country to raise a family, but I was all wrong. I’m working on 16.5$/hour pre tax, with barely paying rent, food, transportation and mobile data. I’ve been insulted 3 times during this year on transit by homeless and addicts that I’ve never met without any reason . One of them spit at me, one slapped me and one pulled a knife at me. I literally never met them and didn’t even look at them. I’ve even saw people for 3 times shit on the bus and LRT.There is no career development in this country, you’ll just keep on living from paycheck to paycheck with 0 savings. I go to work and get back home, I don’t go out because there is nothing to do especially in harsh winters, i ended up taking anti-stress pills. I’m really disappointed with Canada and I’m leaving tomorrow for good on a one way ticket, there is no way to come back. It’s just the opposite of what is promoted about this country. It’s very expensive, a lot of people are homeless and addicts that could hurt you randomly, depressing weather with 0 social life and no career development. What a waste of money and time. My country which is a 3rd world country is way safer, enthusiastic and vital than Canada. The country is busy focusing on decriminalizing drugs and homosexuality rather than making it a good place for families and providing a good education for children.

Just came back from a 6 month trip to Canada by van. Explored roughly 50 cities and towns across BC & Alberta during my trip and I was shocked by the state of facilities in Canada. It's extremely remote and at times sketchy. The cost of living there is ridiculous and tipping culture really is a tax in disguise. The Canada I experienced seems to be falling apart. Everything feels like a pain point to interact with like the ICBC. Thank goodness I live in Australia. My partner who is Japanese was shocked by the living standards there, she was supposed to get her PR VISA but realised how much better her quality of life is as a middle class in Japan. I was supposed to work there for two years but no way after my experiences interacting with the system and sketchiness.

I don't understand why authorities don't see the number of non working restaurants in Peel region. They are nothing but source of LIMAs What we need is 1. Only quality immigration 2. No Asylums 3. Make giving birth and raising a kid cheaper by supporting the young couples during that time for atleast 4 years 4. Improve quality of education, I am from India and I immigrated as a part of express entry wherein I had to prove my 19 years of work experience with the top international brands, provide proof of a considerable bank balance however if I was 20 years old and was not able to qualify for higher education in India, I would just pay Canadian university fee and take higher education here as the education system here is pathetic

@JoseLopez-hp5oo Год назад
While it's true that Canada is experiencing the same issues with expensive housing and inflation as most other countries, Canada does use immigration to prop up the economy since Canadians are not having as many children because it's expensive. So immigration is a form of wage suppression, because without it employers would be forced to pay a living wage sufficient to have children, particularly in the service industries that cannot be outsourced. However Canada circumvent this by using TFWs and mass immigration, using the adage "If you don't want this job, someone else will!". What propelled the problem was lack of supply of housing for all these people. Furthermore, Canada is a very socialized country. There is a breathtaking amount of people that are living off social income and are quite capable of working, or use the EI system and seasonal work. I don't blame these people as lazy, they are smart. The problem is there is a trap, if you leave the social programs, the wages pay nothing , you have no benifits..so why do it? Why work? It literally will cost you more to work then to get off social programs, unless you can propagate to a high paying job and that's unlikely to happen. And all this of this needs to be payed for....by immigrants.

I moved to Canada when I was a teenager, when my parents moved here from Western Europe. I have seen Canada change radically in the last 20 years. It used to be a nice and safe country, with friendly people and decent living conditions. Its no longer the case. Big Canadian cities have become quite dangerous, the social climate has become horrifying, our politics have aligned with Americans it seems. Another thing I notice is a lot of immigrants don't seem to adhere to the values of tolerance toward LGBT people, and while it's illegal to be against LGBT officially, I start to hear a lot of immigrants being against the LGBT when you are not in an official setting. So I think we are heading toward interesting times, because the different cultures living in Canada could eventually clash, and I am not talking about White Supremacy here, but more different communities against each other. So while I am not moving back to Europe, because my life is in Canada, I would have to advise immigrants to think twice before moving to Canada. It's a very expensive country to live in, houses are unaffordable, public schools are not what they used to be,healthcare, while being financed by our taxes is subpar, and the amount of low paying jobs that require 5 years experience is just wild. The weather is also not great, and taxes are very high for the kind of services you get. I got lucky that I made the right moves a few years ago (bought a condo, kept it for 4 years, sold it, made a ton of cash, bought a house, and I have some savings) but I also acknowledge I got very lucky, and a lot of my Canadian friends who were born here were not so lucky. I am not saying you can't make it in Canada, but Canada still coasts on its 20th century reputation. Except its not quite the same country anymore, for better or worse. Just be aware of that when you think about moving to Canada. It's not a paradise, and it's not hell either. It's a country that still has a high standard of living, but when you have been here for awhile, you see a lot of the official government marketing is losing its shine. Just make an informed decision if you decide to move here, that's all.

Canada is not just Vancouver or Toronto, 2 of the most expensive cities in the world. There are other much more affordable big cities, Calgary and Winnipeg come to mind. When I first moved to Canada, I lived in Fredericton while doing school to keep my cost of living down which was cheaper than back home. If you try to love on $1000 a week in one of the most expensive cities in the world... yea home ownership is out of reach. But if you moved to Alberta or SK or WPG, or NB then suddenly you can afford a nice sized home and a great life. Now I live in Alberta with a massive home on 80 acres and its MUCH cheaper than apartments in Vancouver.. I wouldn't expect to buy a home in London/New York/Milan/Tokyo etc on $1000cad a week, nor Vancouver or Toronto

Problem is all those places don't have high tech jobs, especially when Canada is interested in pulling skilled talent especially from US where Chinese/Indian professionals see decades of wait for green card. What you say is reasonably good for someone say coming as refugee or an immigrant working on non tech jobs. For instance, if you have done master's in machine learning/computer vision and have worked for 5 or 6 years in that area, does it makes sense to come to Winnipeg or Alberta and drive Uber or work at walmart. No harm in that, but that destroys Canada own purpose of brinign skilled labor. In US, such person can find job in every major city in his/her area of expertise, they don't have to live in California or NYC. But same is not true in Canada, tech jobs are concentrated in Toronto/Vancouver. I myself live in Ottawa but tech market is very small here. Many of my friends feel stuck in US, they are highly educated people. Many of them even had Canadian PR had a point, but either they did not move to Canada or moved to Canada and then moved back to US, because its too expensive and not much cities to pick from in tech.

I moved from South America (SA) to QC as permanent resident - my parents applied for the PR and it took 9 years, and we are the first generation of our family, we have no relatives here. We come from poor families (as a consequence of the local crisis, discrimination, etc - eg: one of my grandparents was abandoned in the streets when he was just 4 years old) that succeded to get into low middle class in SA, and we invested lots in education, property, etc, but nothing in brand clothes, good cars, vacations, etc. My father got good paying jobs in the gov, and has two masters, etc - we think it is the fear of poverty that led us to some degree of success in life. Since we had lived in a big city in SA, we chose a middle sized city in QC. I was able to get a job as a programmer some months after we got our PR status (about 4 years ago), one year later we purchased a house with our savings from SA, all my siblings are currently studying (one of them will graduate next year), my mother is working and will soon go back to school to hopefully land better jobs in the future, and my father just finished an AEC and has just been hired by a local company. We work a lot as a team. We have not had issues so far, but I'd say that is the case because we came prepared to some extent (money, where to live, how the gov programs work, etc). Of course, no country is perfect, but Canada is far better than where we come from. To us the canadian dream is probably still alive, just not in the big cities.

My suggestions to people is to a) learn a skill that can make you money online and b) save some money then go live where the cost of living is a lot less, the weather a lot better, people a lot friendlier and the environment a lot happier making for a much fulfilling life. Leaving Toronto was the best decision I've made. Used to spend 4k/mo without leaving the house, barely covering groceries to now living my best life on 2k/mo in a tropical paradise in a first world city in Asia. Went from paying 1500$/mo for a room, eating frozen food and being bored out of my mind in the GTA to now staying in the best part, heart of the downtown of a major city in Asia where I have my own big apart, 34th floor, amazing Infiniti rooftop pool, gym with a view to die for, for 1150CDN/mo, eating out every meal having whatever I want, whenever, taking Grab (the local Uber) anywhere anytime, having a vibrant social life, no stress, meeting incredible and inspiring people, having a fun social life. Conservative, traditional, values with sane environment where I can actually see myself starting a family and not being horrified to send my kids to a brainwashing school system that will corrupt and poison their mind with their trans and lgbqt non sense. Go out, explore, and just do it. I'm a proud Canadian but can't recognize the country anymore as the place I grew up in. It's not the same, I feel a stranger and I don't feel at home in Canada anymore. At this time, the best and most valuable thing about Canada is the passport. Got my new 10 year passport 2 weeks ago, the very next day, booked a one way ticket back to Asia. Couldn't be happier. You can be too. Just do it. :)

The country is dying for everyone. Quality of life has decreased, cost of living has increased, the amount of freedom has noticeably decreased, the amount of government overreach has increased. As a Western Canadian secessionist of European & First Nations heritage who originally from the prairies there is no need for me to promote WEXIT because Ottawa does a good enough job at fanning the flames of separation with their policies regarding energy, firearms & their fertilizer reduction initiatives. Oddly it was visiting Ottawa as a young man that turned me from a patriotic Canadian into a Western Secessionist. It might not be evident to new comers to Canada but the country has gotten noticeably worse for those who were born here. Another 5,000,000 or 10,000,000 or 50,000,000 people won’t make things better, it will just increase the burden on the ecosystem, decrease the availability of housing & create more strain regarding water & food scarcity; the fastest growing cities in Canada are building up on some of the little viable agricultural land. I ended up moving to the US to provide better opportunities and a better quality of life for my children. I know by the time they are older the country of their & my birth will be in worse shape then than it is now, with it now being in worse shape now than it was when I was a child. Heed my warning, if this senseless mass immigration continues it will gradually erode social cohesion and will one day result in the Balkanization of Canada. Read Sir John Glubb’s “the fate of empires” or Oswald Spengler’s works on Imperium. No nation state lasts forever without either fragmenting into smaller states or transforming into some larger form of empire, it’s a tale as old as recorded history.

It’s not all good either, far from it. My point remains, as someone who was born in Canada it has gotten worse in multiple spheres and has not gotten better in so far as our overall quality of life, personal liberties and the dreaded cost of living have all deteriorated. Someone new to the country is not capable of gauging or understanding those changes because they have no frame of reference except for the country that they left. Perhaps if you did a video where you talked to people born in Canada from a variety of backgrounds(First Nations, Old Stock settler descendants, second generation children of immigrants) In different regions throughout the country(West Coast, Buffalo which is more commonly known as the Prairies, central Canada, Quebec, the Maritimes & the North and asked them this question they might give you answers that mirror or have similar sentiments to my initial comment. Disregarding the discontent experienced by those who are already here will only further the neo-liberal agenda of globalization by hollowing out Canada of its resources whilst filling the country with a surplus of people who we do not have the infrastructure to provide the basic necessities for. If Canadians were content or happy with how things were the Freedom convoy would not have happened, overdose deaths wouldn’t be the biggest killer of males aged 14-50 & the PM wouldn’t get heckled at every single appearance that he makes, if things were fine you wouldn’t have the Maverick Party in the West or the Bloc Québécois.. Again, ask some people more familiar with the country their opinions, we might even have pertinent or helpful information that would be beneficial to your targeted viewership demographic of newcomers.

I left two years ago, here are my observations as a Canadian citizen in exile; the quality of life in Canada has decreased in my lifetime, the amount of personal freedom has drastically been reduced within my lifetime. Many people are not totally aware of the nuance of this, but if you are a legal firearms owner in Canada you are more heavily scrutinized than teachers or politicians & have a criminal record check performed daily. With the rise of gang related violence in large urban centers the current regime in Ottawa has seen it fit to utilize legal firearms owners as whipping boys to push through their totalitarian agenda. As a Western Canadian firearms are part of our cultural heritage & a heritage and culture which Ottawa wishes to eradicate. Beyond that, the yearly increases on the carbon tax make life very unaffordable, as a parent it was getting so expensive that even with a decent paying job, after taxes, the cost of housing, the cost of food & the cost of fuel resulted in us being able to save less than $1000 a month. Canada is a large country with a horribly centralized government that is out of touch with the populace, there are effectively different economic castes in the country with government employees being their own separate caste. The use of language laws is a form of gatekeeping to prevent average Canadians to getting secure government positions and salaries. The fact that those language policies exist but there is not a universal effort to teach le Francais to young students indicates a deliberate effort to keep a large segment of the Canadian public from getting public sector jobs. Non bilingual people are barred from being the PM or Governor General. Government in Canada is too heavy, it punishes people who work hard with high taxes & their solution to everything is to drastically expand the population by immigration in order to avert a potential housing crash or pension crisis. As someone who is part indigenous & a Prairie Boy, Ottawa has never been our friend, they have used the RCMP to implement their colonialist aspirations and apply the law differently when a member of the political establishment violates said law. I am not hopeful for the future of Canada; I feel like it will one day either be annexed by global superpowers for its resources or it will Balkanize into smaller states as national unity withers away due to the incompetence and corruption of the Ottawa situated Laurentian political establishment. If they weren’t incompetent or corrupt there wouldn’t be talk of Chicom electoral interference. These are just my opinions but I am likely not the only one to express such concerns if you talk frankly with other Canadians.

Canada is dying indeed. But look at the examples of people who you chose to show here. I am aware that the quality of immigrants coming from South Asia has been poor recently, but your examples aren't real world representations of what I've seen. Instead of choosing an example of an Indian lady, who wants to be an RCMP officer, and cannot even speak English, you could have interviewed educated and well settled South Asians. I know many couples who are making 250k+ each on average working in management and leadership roles and that's their first job as new immigrants to this country. Also why not use the same hyperbole while showcasing white immigrants, I've met many East European immigrants driving cabs and working menial jobs, why not show them as well. The reality is that many new permanent residents are much more qualified than you, me and those white ladies you've interviewed. The minimum CRS score to get an ITA is ~490 these days. Spend some time to understand how difficult it is to qualify for a PR these days if you're already not here. Don't confuse skilled workers with shitty students who are here to study in strip mall colleges. Skilled workers who are coming here will put this country on the map and build the silicon valley of Canada.

The big difference between immigrants from 30, 40, 50 years is the new immigrants are mostly from well off families in their native country. They go to western countries like canada to do better. Canada/other western countries want immigrants for cheap labor & stay back to pay taxes for socialist programs with no benefit for immigrants. So the well to do immigrants will struggle to get their Citizenship and leave the country and will be back to collect their benefits when needed by putting very little into the country. This was only done by a few years ago but one will see this as a majority in the near future.

I think, Canada needs to be more generous in letting temporary resident like me to pursue licensed courses more easily and affordable alongside PR holders and citizens. I’ve been chasing an institution to help me financially for a particular license, which costs 10-15k CAD, but they say, they cannot because I’m not a PR or citizen. If I get a chance and financial assistance to pursue skill building certifications and licenses, it will be motivating and make me feel inclusive to plan staying longer in Atlantic Canada than to move west.

Canada sucks and discriminate all foreign students and potential candidates. They think they are so superior than the rest of the world those dumb canadians but in fact who are they exactly ? Nothing, nobody. Their stock exchange doesn't even represent 3% of all world trades. Yet they keep on behaving like xenophobic people. I never understood why canadians are so mean ???

Let me give an India narrative to native Canadians. From India, its mostly people from punjab want just go to canada...Reasons: Canadian government has been involved in anti India activities using khalistan and more ready to take Indian punjabis to canada without doing proper background verification. As a normal Indian it never came to my mind to move out of India as I m quite happy here, even though I m a middle class. So its the Canadian government who is destroying canada more than anyone else.Justin tredue is too woke and mentally unstable to give asylum to people with fake letters to just then as as a tool.

@@ImCanada - I currently live in Mexico. I can live comfortably on CPP and OAS here. This is in a modern studio apartment, a ten minute walk to a beautiful beach in a safe area with many other Canadians. For healthcare I pay a yearly rate of $1,400 CDN to be covered by a health plan down here. It covers all medical issues, including hospitilization, surgeries, all medications and basic (non-cosmetic dental).

M While it's true that Canada is experiencing the same issues with expensive housing and inflation as most other countries, Canada does use immigration to prop up the economy since Canadians are not having as many children because it's expensive. 24 3

I left Canada for US, better pay, less taxes, better shopping and selection, bigger houses that cost less, more career opportunity, better infrastructure -roads in US wide and smooth not crap like Canada with lights on over passes , variety of weather in the US, more options, better flight options, literally everything is better. If you are well educated /motivated, it is better to go to the US.

Its about everyone. The "racisim" is even among the immigrants. I'm handsomly black and i live in Brampton and i cant even get a job there, and i'm not even an immigrant. why? Brampton is populated by mostly indians. Majority are mostly immigrants or PR holders. My point is simple, we are all human beings and we need to treat people EQUALY! Say NO to forced fake smiles! Everyonee must do better, be better.

Unfortunately my friend, humans are tribal. It's in our dna, and it's not even always hate based. A lot of Indians create Indian neighborhoods simply because it's more comfortable to them to live among people of the same culture. It's much deeper than just appearances. Cultural differences are a real life barrier, and not every culture is easily compatible. I'm not Indian, but I understand why they do it. Same with the Chinese. I don't blame people for wanting to stick with what's familiar and works best for them. It might not be fair in all situations, but that's just life.

A very insightful video however, most of these people are new immigrants so it's really hard to agree with them. It takes time for your hopes and aspirations to be ruined in Canada. We all came here hoping for the Canada dream but ended up with a debt/tax nightmare. How about you do a follow up with all these people in like 5 years. Let's see what they have to say then. Thank you for the video. And all my fellow immigrants, stay strong and don't forget to help each other out. Also I want to add that we didn't come here to live and restrict ourselves from basic amenities like wanting to own a decent apartment rather than a basement or a shared space. That's living life restricted. That's not the Canada Dream.
