please i need to clarify one thing you have said about moving to other countries as a canadian citizen. Visa free travel is totally different from the automatic right to live and work in other countries. There is no automatic work rights/ permit in other countries including the USA or europe or Australia even if you hold a canadian passport. There are criteria you must fulfill to qualify for work permits in other countries and those are not always straightforward. As a canadian you still need to be offered a job by an american employer and then you have to qualify for a NAFTA work permit so it may be easier than if you hold a Nigerian passport BUT it is not automatic at all at all!!! There is the temporary program like working holidays visa for younger people 18-30 yrs olds which is an agreement that covers UK, Canada, Australia , Newzealand and many other EU countries with limit of 2yrs stay and no pathway to PR. but be mindful working holiday visa is just meant for exchange of young people and not an immigrant work visa. LET me clearly say this, the only place in the western world where automatic right to work and live in other countries aka freedom of movement exist as in simply waking up one morning, eat your weetabix or oatmeal breakfast, pack your luggage, take your passport, buy flight ticket and move to live and work somewhere else without any visas or permits or hindrances is within the EUROPEAN UNION and i don't mean EUROPE, i mean within the 28 EU countries and you must be a citizen and have a passport issued by one of those 28 EU countries to enjoy this automatic right. permanent residence alone is not enough!! For those who travel abroad often you can bear me witness of this: I have never landed in an airport in any western nation including the USA and at the airport you see special lane for Canadian citizens, hell no!. You see a lane for USA citizens and permanent residents and the next lane you see either 'OTHER COUNTRIES' or 'NON US CITIZENS'. In the UK and Europe you see lane for 'EU PASSPORTS' and 'NON EU PASSPORT HOLDER' and it is like that everywhere. the only place you can see dedicated lane for canadians is only in canadian airports within the canadian territory. So my point is there is no exceptional favours for you to just immigrate to live and work elsewhere because you hold a canadian passport. As a matter of fact you must follow the same rules as everyone else , no difference between you with Canadian passport and and person with Naija passport when it comes to leaving canada to go and live and work in another country with exception of the NAFTA which i mentioned previously. I work with proper White Canadians (the WASP with scottish heritage and anglo-saxon names if you know what i mean) not the 'carry follow' immigrant canadians in the same hospital in the UK and trust me na Tier 2 work permit wey UK dey give naija experts naim dem dey give them too, no extra favours ooo. You can travel freely without visa for tourism and holidays and visa for a specified period maybe 3 or 6 months visit to many countries with a canadian passport but sorry this is not the same thing as going to live and work there. Canadians are subject to the same immigration rules and controls as others in other countries when it comes to immigrating to live and work in other countries. As a matter of fact in most western countries, a person with a Nigerian passport and a Canadian passport are subject to the same rules when it comes to immigrating to live and work. Believe me!! With the current state of things in Naija nowadays, there are immense gains in moving away from Naija to Canada and other Western nations so don't get me wrong, I encourage people to move if they can I have taken my time to highlight this because i think people are empowered to make the best decision when they have accurate information. I have been a victim of disinformation in the past when i left Nigeria in 2009 but God saw me through. So that is why i always take it upon myself to clarify vital information in the open so people back home in Naija will not start building castles in the air.
@CanadaInfohub

Thanks, I might not have elaborated further on the work permit after getting a Canadian citizenship, but all what you mentioned is exactly what I was implying. It is easier to get a work permit as a Canadian citizen in other developed countries than getting a work permit as a Nigerian citizen, of course it is not an automatic ticket but something one has to apply for if the person is interested in emigrating from Canada after becoming a citizen.

I agree with you. Although I think some successful Nigerians at home may struggle with lack of power control in Canada which can be mentally torturous for them. Eg no oga sir, kasali open that gate for me, Nike the house girl, have you fixed my breakfast? You drive yaself or take the bus.

@Felix Hamer, that's true but saving money in the western world is pivotal and that should be priority. Unless a person earns in millions, what do they need a gateman for? The garage door opener does the job, you'll save your words and energy. Anyway you can buy a million dollar house with huge gates if you can afford it, let's remember bills must be paid anyway. You can also hire a house girl/nanny/housekeeper and get her to fix breakfast. If you want to go the professional route, fixing breakfast had better be part of her job description and you can't tell her to do things impulsively often because she has employee rights and there are many lawyers out there. You must also speak to her appropriately. On the other hand, you can also choose to hire our people too from home, if you command too much like you do at home, the person can leave you to work for someone else, she'll tell you Canada na leveler. However you need to be ready to pay. Think in terms of need. If the roads are good and you don't have to seat in traffic for hours, you can plan your day, meet your schedules and are healthy enough to drive, why waste money? why not save? Life goes by fast and money is needed until we breathe our last on this earth no matter how old.

All your points are true and valid. Some of these benefits are the same in the UK as well. I advocate for everyone to migrate to wherever they seem fit, regardless of their status. However, we all can't leave Nigeria and move to Canada. 10 to 15years, we will all see the outcome of this Canadian gold rush. .... From all you mentioned, the one that appeals to me the most is the passport strength, which gives me the ability to spontaneously travel.

Good information, however, let's remember the inspiring words of the late John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.” We fixate on what we can get out of the system and not what we contribute to making the system better. This mentality is what has run a country like Nigeria with so much potential aground. Most of our leaders think only about themselves and their children, they forget that the other child you do not take care of might one day become a menace to your child. That's why their kids leave the shores of Nigeria and they are not able to come back home, because "the country is not safe." Canadians work hard, there is a strong work ethic, you don't laze around even in government employment, you pay your fair share in taxes and there is enough accountability within the government that those taxes are well utilized to provide the social services, the health services, and the education that are outlined in this video. Let's begin to hold ourselves accountable and then demand the same from our leaders and we can collectively make Nigeria a better place. This would not happen overnight but we can at least start.

There is a thin line between status & greed. When we only calculate how to chop for free wahala dey if people are made to believe that if they can get a Visa & flight ticket means they can reap where they did not sow. People need to know HOW to be eligible to work on foreign soil, to have work permits, passports, health care. Most people will only hear that they can get $600 free money for each child then come running to what their hand cannot touch. In desperation they turn to crime. At the end of your video you did mention something very important, "Knowing Your Onions". This is wonderful, but I would love to see & hear more of that earlier before viewers get distracted & stop watching. I try to help people who don't want to come with a CV or certificate or degree to market their skills & experience because they want somebody to Arrange a job like that. The only thing available like that is low paying security & home care jobs. Poverty is better where people love you . It's necessary to work smart & hard in foreign land. God bless you & your efforts.

Nice and informative video. If I migrate to Canada with my wife and kids on student visa to come do PhD which will last for about 5-6years, will my kids qualify for free education, child benefits, and free health? I am currently working in far away Southeast Asia as a Nigerian. I am considering a move to either Canada or the UK with my family for my postgraduate program in 2023.

Thanks for your video. You just answer most of the questions I have been asking myself. Do you have any idea of the cost +- that someone can prepare in order to begin the process?🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Please can you carry out a research and make a video on '' why family break up or why women turn against their husband (especially Nigerians)'' , is it because of all the benefits believing they don't need their husband anymore? Thank you

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Everything you mentioned about Canada is exactly the way things are in the UK. Canada seems to have copied and pasted the UK style of social services in terms of education loans and grants, health, statutory paid 1yr maternity leave, child benefit, child tax credits, safety, strength of passport. etc etc . I have heard many nice stories about Canada but i believe once you are settled in the UK it is not really worth it moving to Canada because you already get a vast array of those social stuff in the UK and even more, If you are in Nigeria then it is worth it.

From my personal opinion, I think UK is better. Things are cheaper, medical system is better, its warmer than Canada. I think Canadian citizens have a better chance of securing a job in the US with their passport than British citizens. Canada seems more friendly though.

If you have your "indefinite leave" in UK, I agree with you. The benefits are similar to Canada. But if you're on a Tier 2 visa work permit, you're limited is so many ways. For a Tier 2 work permit holder, you're not entitled to public funds, meanwhile, you work and pay taxes. If you give birth, your child is not entitled to any child benefit. I know nurses who work in UK on Tier 2, who had no choice than to return to work early cuz there's nothing like child benefits for their children. You only get the child benefit if your husband happens to hold a British passport. On Tier 2 work permit in UK, you can't switch from one job to the other so easily. There's a long list and I'll say that it all depends on your status here.

I agree with you 100%..BUT ! I left the U.K because of space , I just got tired of the Traffic , the rail system.. I can drive for 8 hours and see the UK...It would take me many , many days to drive from one side of Canada to the other , I can go 10 miles north and see wild life and lakes and no people at all.. I love that..love the UK , Do not get me wrong..But In Canada there Is land man never has put his foot on...2nd biggest on the planet , with a very low population...Guess where the future will be...HERE..
