Hi Wolo, the first 2 houses aren’t called townhouses. They are called Terraces. A townhouse is a house with more than 3 floors including the ground floor...just thought I should mention. Informative video. I have lived in Winnipeg for almost 10 years and those houses will cost at least $2k to rent new builds.

Hi Roshani, sorry for the late response. Security in Winnipeg is ok as long as you do not live downtown. And it isn’t to the extent that you should feel that your life is threatened. About where to live and be in the African community, I will say Pembina highway area, st Mary’s road area, Kildonan area. The first 3 areas are in the south and more expensive than living in the other areas.

Attention non smoking new immigrants! Please be well advised upfront that smoking is almost like a national pastime in Canada. Male, female, young and old have no qualms with smoking. Just recently, the Canadian government even went ahead to legalize cannabis. Now, I'm not in any way condemning anyone's choice in what they consume but I just want non smoking immigrants to be mindful of this especially in regards to the choice of housing. Particularly in apartment blocks that share a central ventilation system. Although smoking indoors is prohibited by law, some smokers have devised ingenious ways of disconnecting smoke detectors/alarms in their apartments. In cases like this, neighbours are often compelled to inhale second-hand cigarette or cannabis smoke! Just a food for thought when searching for housing. This is from personal experience. Thanks!
