I'd lean toward taking advantage of the return policy. At that price point, it demands to be a staple piece, and it sounds like there are already plenty of reasons it wouldn't fit the bill. For me, the deal breaker would be the sleeves not permitting additional layering options. It really backs it it into a corner. Plus, when i get something in a compromised colorway, it never quite feels right. On the bright side, seeing a garment up close and really studying it is always a valuable endeavor. If nothing else, you appreciate its eventual replacement all the more.
Yeah completely agree with your points here. Especially about the colour, I’m compromising which is something I try to avoid. Thanks for your feedback!
it should be all natural materials on the outer-shell at least for that price point. Getting pretty annoying that so many brands sell pieces for high prices that rely on plastic. It's not always a bad thing but I don't understand the reason for this item. I have a similar coat from Todd Synder a few years ago that is 100% wool and only cost $150. Brands don't even seem to make clothing like that anymore. Within the space of a few years now you have to search much harder for good materials at a not ludicrous price point.
I agree mate! I wonder if they did it for cost saving or for another reason? I have to say the stretch for the polyester is quite nice to be honest, but I’d take 100% wool any day because it’s way more luxurious.
Personally I think $650 for a jacket that is a wool/poly blend and not even 100% wool is a bit ridiculous. It feels like you're paying for branding and not quality.
meeeh ... considering the quality and fit of your Aero Jacket, 650 for this one is really overpriced (the lenght is not right IMO). If you need an advice, I vote "Send it back"
@@JamesLeung at that price, that’s the least they could do, small details are the most important😬, personally that’s an instant return💀 but you got a video out of it so hopefully you’ll make it back 🤷🏾
$650 for that is beyond silly imo. It's not even 100% wool at that price. The "italian fabric" not being talked about in the description makes me instantly think it's not something worth bringing up. Could be italian grown then sent to China then Romania to make it. Considering I can get some extremely premium stuff for this price, i'd say it's not at all worth it. Like a lot of these "oh a character in X wore it, it must be good" sort of thing.
I think it is a bit overpriced based on the brand and the design. I think the checkered design is really nice but I feel like there are similar jackets at lower prices. And that the only thing justifying the price is that its been on The Bear. The polyester is probably due to durability. A lot of thicker wool jackets, even some used in the military during the 1900s had at least 10% polyester to increase the durability from harsh conditions and other stuff. I think its usually best to avoid wool garments where the polyester content is above 30% as it is more likely then cost cutting
Yeah I know what you mean. Ah that’s interesting to hear about the polyester! I always assume it’s to cut costs but I’m clearly just being ignorant. Thanks for watching!
Judging from the fit on you and snapshots from the show it's likely they altered the jacket to fit him, JAW isn't a tall guy and he got pretty jacked for a movie role, has got to be wearing a medium at least. It is definitely a unique jacket, just needs sized up and altered imo, nice informative content as always James!
Hi James, I used to watch your videos many years ago. Back when you were reviewing Yeezy style garments. Glad you’re back on it! I remember you used to own a really cool Swedish military sweater. Do you still have it?
Awesome to hear thanks for supporting!! The good old days haha. I remember that jumper well, I sold it on eBay quite recently because it was way too long on me and I wasn’t wearing it. I was a nice piece though!
I like the proportion this jacket gave you. I understand 1/3 to 2/3 are the trending proportions, but I do enjoy some nice old school 1/2 and 1/2. Surprised to see polyester on such piece. A bit of a shame.
1/2 and 1/2 with relaxed trousers is a popular proportion coming out of a lot of japanese fashion the last few years (Kapital, Beams, Engineered Garments etc)
It actually really suits you. NNO7 seems like a cool brand. Nice stuff. But you seem a little uncomfortable in it. So return 🤔 I tried the AMI one on. Wanted it to work so badly. Tried in 2 different sizes. Just looked too wide. Unflattering. Had to return.
Thanks man. Yeah it looks ok to be fair but just not quite what I expected for the price. Ahh that’s a shame to hear! It does look pretty wide to be fair.
I was only looking at this brand yesterday, not because of the bear, I wasn’t aware of its relationship to the show until now. I was ready to pull the trigger on 2 items until I realised the polyester blend, thats a deal breaker for me, it’s the same reason i don’t buy from dickies. Shame.
It’s very nice, but I also agree that the brown version looks best. I’d avoid it as I’m actually trying to size down my jacket collection by selling through Depop.
This is a beautiful piece. Also, this is one of my favorite fits Ive seen on your channel. However, It doesn’t seem as though you were particularly excited about it. For the price , id recommend you return it for something you actually love. I agree, this is more of a $150-$300 type piece. Also, Ill check out The Bear, seems like a cool show
I love the look of it but the fit just wasn’t right for me unfortunately. If it was cheaper I could see myself keeping it, but at this price it needs to be perfect! Thanks for watching man!
Is those basic jackets that are not basic but the cut is weird. I worked in retail, so you are definitely on the much skinny side where a more "average" person will be around 75kg+ mark at your height (I am 76kg who works out just 2 CM short than you). Maybe is a brand for skinny people and extra tall people when a small at your height shouldn't have issues with arm length being too long (should be a bit shorter TBH). If you look at their resale of their other stuff, is pretty cheap so it shows not many people keep their stuff.
@@JamesLeungTY, great content, I can't say I am aligned to your style (mine are more tailored + casual). But your review was very thorough and detail. Well done 🙏🏻
Not.for me that one. You can get some great jackets at that price. I almost bought a Mannifattura Ceccarelli black bomber jacket for about 35 quid less that, i feel, looked more its price point
@JamesLeung don't take my comment as a diss on your purchase though. It is nice and it wouldn't work if we all had tye same taste. My build I'd very different to you which makes a huge difference. 6'3" 210lbs 36in waste and very broad shoulders
Hey James, have you looked into Vintage Duofold Tees from the 50s-60s. Based on your previous video and this one I think you would appreciate such pieces.
@@JamesLeung Yes, I recently found a double layered version on my recent trip to Tokyo in one of from an American/Euro workwear archive and it has become one of my favorite plain white/cream tees. Might need a little crop but its got a texture and feel that is quite unique.
I think once you get to this price point it becomes less about how well it fits, how nice the materials are etc & more about the simple economics of do you have enough disposable income to allow you spend that much & not stress out every time you wear it somewhere. £500 is a more significant sum to me than say a hedge fund manager that makes that in a day & probably wouldn’t second guess buying if they vaguely like it.
Yep good point! To be honest if the fit was perfect and the quality was incredible I could convince myself to keep it since I’ve sold so many clothes recently. But it just isn’t there for me!
@@JamesLeung For sure. The are definitely some pieces too that could be considered a long term investment that would get a lot of wear or could be sold without much of a loss. Then I think I’d be more amenable to stretching the budget.
Always love your videos, James! The other Carmy item I found interesting was the trousers he talked about in series two. He described them as "cuffed Dickies made form worsted wool". I did a bit of research afterwards and it sounds like he was talking about a pair from Thom Browne.
Good video. See if it can be professionally cropped. Moving the pockets up and a new zip. Or, just buy things you love. When buying clothes, if you love it, it's a keeper.
Thank you! I think that would look really good, although a little hesitant to spend any more money on it as it’s already very expensive. I think I might be best getting a different jacket that fits me better!
Considering the Tee video that he wore in the show got 200k views i can’t blame him for trying another item, exploring cultural references in fashion makes for an interesting niche imo.
Quality materials? 26% of polyester you calling quality material? Are you nuts? Sorry, but not for this price tag. It looks nice, but have some respect for your self and for your money.
Hey I just found your Channel, I was wondering if you could do a review on Bear’s jacket from Reservation Dogs. I’ve always thought it’s was really cool looking and an awesome thing to wear but I couldn’t find it anywhere. Can you plz help 🙏.
