What if the reason Wybie looks so guilty, is because he caused the Joneses car crash? He might have crossed the road on his motorcycle at the wrong time. That mask of his might have obstructed his view and he didn't see them in time?

@@TheFangirlWatches Though that begs the question: if Coraline and her parents are in purgatory and none of them met Wybie while alive, did he die as well after them (bike crash?) and that's how he ends up in purgatory with them? The very end of the film, where everything is now colorful and peaceful as opposed to foggy and gloomy) could be the afterlife, with everyone able to move on.

That does explain it because, the mask might be his hiding place. To hide to show he is the one tomake them crash. But, i am sure she would know by now. But, what if he has powers. Think about it, he always apears randomly! From a therioe of him being a fariy!? Idk... Might be true! But, i like to think he is a good person! Cause, maybe he is nervous because, he is scaredfor coraline! Cause, he didn't believe coraline and called her "CRAZY!" Or he could be faking or he could not be, and scaredfor her.

This is definitely a different take on Coraline. And who knows if this is what the creators intended, maybe the celebration at the end of the film is the jones celebrating that Coriline remarkably recovered from her injuries

@@Kaii2456 They replied to a now-deleted comment :) But even if it was a funeral, sweets wouldn't be uncommon! My family brings things like coffee and candy to keep our energy up to make room for the mourning. It's a common practice around the world :).

This actually also explains the behaviour of Coraline’s parents. In Coraline’s comastate, she subconsciously blames them and makes them into these horrible, neglectful parents to rationalize her ideas. When she comes back home at the end of the movie her parents are happy and doing the things she always wanted to do and enjoying their time with her. This would be something parents would do after their child almost lost their life and is finally back home from the hospital. I also think the Beldam’s face in the garden could be a metaphor for the fact that what happened (the car crash and coma) will always be a part of the Jones’ lives even if everything passed a long time ago. The ghost children could be acual ghosts in the afterlife or they could be a distorted view of other children in the hospital Coraline’s in. This explains their speech at the end. “It’s over forever. For us.” Their probably going home or they woke up from a coma themselves, therefor leaving the world Coraline has created.

Yes! I love this theory. It makes a lot of sense. Especially if you go and watch Claire Wineland's video of her experience in a coma, what Coraline experiences would make sense combined with a child's imagination.

While I don't like coma theories in general, yours aee actually really good, you actually back them up well, people don't like them cause most of them are just like "magic isn't real! Must be in a comma!". Like between thid theory and your don't hug me I'm scared one, you have really made me reconsider what a comma theory can be and that it's the maker's fault for being bad not the theory type's.

Well thank you! I try to back it up, but until I put out a coma theory with Don't Hug Me I'm Scared I had no idea how unpopular they were. But that video went over well so I did one for Coco (the evidence is really there imo) and people reacted so negatively to that I swore I'd never do another. The script for this video sat for 2 years before I finally made it lol

I found another point to support this theory- At the end of the movie, in the garden, we see that a white balloon is attached to one of miss spink's and forcible's dog..and from what I know,white is a symbol for the afterlife or death

👍 I recommend that theory the most for 2 main reasons 1️⃣. Tunnels are known to bee seen by all people who have been in a comma 2️⃣. She keeps waking up in her original room even when she falls asleep elsewhere❗

I did a few Ghibli's before and ended up fighting copyright strikes, so I've been afraid to touch them again. But, now that I have the live-action format and barely show any images from the movies, it might actually more doable now! And I did just order The Wind Rises. Wringing your hands and neck is more of a nervous reaction. Abuse could be in there too, but I doubt Wybie would be brave enough to steal the doll if it was an abuse situation.

when both parents said" welcome home Coraline we've been waiting for you" to her that means something and she's thinking hard about the car crash and being a coma still Coraline gets curious about the house and the place is new to her and is scared to go near the well.

I love this theory and despite the fact that I haven’t watched Coraline in a while, something I do remember is that (correct me if I’m wrong) but Coraline parents are always seen in the same clothes, except for the suit that Charlie is seen in when they go to town. Yea, it would be difficult to change their clothes every once in a while. but if Laika was willing to put Henry Selicks face on a dollar bill, as well as make separate outfits for Coraline, then I don’t see why they wouldn’t for her parents. What if her parents are never seen in different clothes because the clothes we see them in, are the same clothes that Coraline last saw them in. I mean, the clothes they wear aren’t exactly clothes I would think someone would wear repeatedly. And if this theory doesn’t hold up, then it could work in with the theory that the Jones family is extremely broke. If your a parent and you can barely afford clothes, then I would think you would spend any money for clothes, on your kids clothes. But that’s just me.

I have even scarier theory I think. What if Coraline was a schizophrenic? Look. Her parents drive her to the Pink Palace, in theory - psychiatric hospital. Coraline is so alone. That why she imagine her parents as bad parents, to not feel so sad. Beldam is a nurse. She really loves Coraline, because she is just a kid and she needs love. But when Coraline discovers that she can't leave Pink Palace, she starts to imagine Beldam as horrifying witch. Cat is just a cat, door to the other world are the door made for children (they lead to the Beldam's office) to have more fun. Other Father is a nice doctor, Other People are just other patiens of the hospital. Ghost Children are the previous patiens that Coraline saw on the picture somewhere. Grandma and W-B are neighbours, W-B is a volunteer, who helps with "safe patiens" like Coraline. I would write more, but this comment is long enough 😂 PS. Sorry for mistakes, I'm from Poland 😉

Watching these theories has me making correlations between Coraline and Beetlejuice (the movies, not the characters). I mean the early commercials always pushed that Coraline was "from the creators of "A Nightmare Before Christmas"", it all has me wondering whether Lydia is feeding the limbo with the Maitlands in the role of "other" parents. Perhaps the Beldam isn't the actual entity, but just another puppet of the Pink Palace.

I've noticed when Coraline plays the game of finding the ghost children's eyes, and her parents with the other mother. Coraline looks into the middle of the triangle It shows an gray color in the garden, & Then shows the color of the ghost children's eye. Could that mean the Other world where the Other-Mother lives in, Is some kind of Dead-World, Cause this was the place where The lost children was at Before they died, And they got trapped there forever, And they died with the buttons in their eyes. Is that Triangle stone Coraline got from The Old ladies In the basement An Planchet? That triangle game piece that is included with the Ouija Board? Cause an person Can't play with the Ouija Board without that triangle planchet. Thanks for Reading. 😎

I have another theory, maybe Coraline’s imagining everything about the other world, out of boredom, and since she is interested in going on adventures. Maybe that’s why her parents didn’t remember anything, because none it happened possibly. Coraline could’ve imagined this for months, so that could be why fall suddenly turns into spring in what seems like a few days have gone by at the end of the movie.

Actually I don't think a coma theory is lazy in this case because it makes sense and there more evidence for this one than compaired to other coma theories. I really liked this theory! It also reminds me of the theories on Over the Garden Wall.

I like this theory.. It kinda explains why there are the big time gaps and other things. I don't know if we will ever find the solution to this film's mystery, but it's fun to think about these many possibilities. The coma idea is pretty good. There was once a guy who got hit on the head at his graduation but for like 5 seconds lived a whole life and got married and had a kid and he still remembers it all today and has therapy because he genuinely believed it happened. Time works funny when you're asleep

your vids are so awesome the fangirl i would like to point something out, ok so remember how the water is brown?, well i think i know why that is i have read about cases where if someone hides a body/bodies in a water tank the water has a brownish tint to in depending on how long the body/bodies have been rotting away for, think about it we never get to see what happens to the bodies of the 3 ghost children.....and if u look at the room they are in when Coraline, is in the mirror the bed that they are on has dark water on it sooooo maybe another portal to the real world?

I never thought about it but it aktually makes alot of sense. Maybe the other world and the Beldam arent living supernatural beings. Let's assume the Family had a fatal car crash and Coraline is now in the afterlife. She unconsciously blames it on her mother who drove the car, which results in her mind creating this magical world where everything is perfect - except from an evil monster mother that wants to kill you. Coralines journey of realising that this monster is not her mother is maybe her spirit accepting that her mother is not a monster. And the finale of being connected with her 'real' family is coralines heaven.

maybe the other world is like a trial, like a purgatory/limbo that she has to go through before dying. Otherwise, it could be like a comatose state and maybe the Beldam trying to keep her her locked up in the fake world and saying "don't leave me or I'll die without you", was the mother that was telling a dying Coraline to not die, otherwise she would have been lonely without her.

Aww your kitten is so cute! We have four cats, two of which we rescued as strays. The first one is a Siamese my parents found literally in the middle of the road (he wasn't hit by a car, he just got stuck there for a minute because he was trying to cross the road) that we named Hedwig, and the other is a Tabby/possible Tabby-Serenghetti or Bobcat mix we found outside our house about two weeks ago, and we are currently stuck between Echo and Shira for a name.

Wybie might have caused them to have a car wreak it would make sense,he could have drove with his motorcycle at the wrong time causing Coraline her parents to have a car wreck,and her parents go to the hospital,her mom and dad were fine but Coraline went into a coma and all the movie she is fighting for her life.

Heres my theory, Coraline got in a car accident and is in a coma and is close to death anf finds herself inbetween the real world and the other world. The beldam is trying to get her to stay on her side, i always thought of the beldam as the grim reaper sort of figure or satan not sure exactly could be both. But what doesnt make sense is the cat and wybie..maybe the cat is a god like figure who guides coraline and protects her from the beldam and the mice and gives her advice in order to live. Coraline eventually meets the ghosts (the other children) the other children might have also died in tragic ways and had the inability to cope like coraline in death. It would explain her parents behavior and the ending and how she is celebrated maybe that is a clue to her winning the battle and surviving.

This is really wonderful theory, but what if Coraline is some kind of saviour to help the souls of children who made the wrong choice and went to the hell? I'd say that her neighbours are people in the same hospital, still balancing, like she does; their alter egos from the Other World are in fact them meeting in one coma-dream; the dead children are souls that are in hell. At the end of the movie, Coraline either thinks she is going to die ("well, I am glad it's all over") for she has completed the task and saved the lost souls, but she is given a chance to come back to life.
