Anthony has never seen the Corpse Bride before!! So I figured that he NEEDED to watch it this spooky szn. This is our reaction and Anthony's First Time Watching Corpse Bride (2005). Victoria's (Emily Watson) and Victor's (Johnny Depp) families have planned their wedding. Victor is anxious about the ceremony despite the fact that they get along well. He is practicing his lines for the wedding in a forest when a tree branch transforms into a hand and carries him to the afterlife. It belonged to Emily, who wanted to wed Victor but was assassinated after eloping with him. Victor must to return to the surface before Victoria marries the evil Barkis Bittern (Richard E. Grant).

1:46 they have a stigma to New-Money Families which Victor's Family is given their lucrative Fish industry providing them with much wealth. Something Victoria's Old-Money family is falling behind on. It's a marriage of convenience for both Parties as Victor's family would save Victoria's family from poverty while Victoria's family would give Victor's Family a higher status in Aristocratic society.

He may have directed it, but the characters and story were all Burton. The only reason he handed it over to Sellick is because he was busy with Batman Returns.

Emily couldn’t be with Victor in the end, not because of death, but because she was in love with the idea of marriage rather than the person she was trying to marry. I absolutely adore this movie because it sends the message that in the end you have to be happy and content within yourself. “You” have to be enough.

I like both movies equally, I think credit goes to this movie for a more mature story and more fleshed-out characters Nightmare Before Christmas has better songs, I do like Corpse Bride's songs though, especially Remains of the Day

Tbh I still hold hope that they'll make a prequel film about Emily, i know the song told us plenty but theres many many years before that transpires. Live action, animated, or what i honestly want is the movie to be in stop motion

I've got another recommendation for movie that's sort of a Halloween/ Christmas crossover. Hogfather from 2006. It's a little long as it was originally a 2 part miniseries, but it's good, and almost no one else has reacted to it.

I would say Corpse Bride is better than The Nightmare before Christmas, both are very good in their own ways but I in my opinion watched more of this movie growing up and loving this one more. The songs in this movie are fantastic and the one where the skeletons tell her death is the best song in my opinion.

I've watched Corpse Bride three or four times, but TBH, while it's a decent movie, I'm not sure it's something I really needed to see more than once. Considering how much work went into the animation, I feel a little bad that I don't like the movie more, no matter how much I try to force myself. Maybe it's not entirely fair to compare the two, but I definitely prefer The Nightmare Before Christmas; Halloweentown is just way more interesting than what little we see of the Land of the Dead.

So fascinated by the comments here. Many strongly prefer this to The Nightmare Before Christmas, others very much the opposite. I wonder why? I know I was overwhelmed by TNBC's music, and still am, but am underwhelmed by the music of The Corpse Bride, although I enjoy the story. And people call Emily beautiful, while I am disturbed by her bones and maggot friend (although I love that he sounds like Peter Lorre).

In a short answer; no, it's not better than nightmare before christmas. It's a decent movie, but Nightmare before christmas is a classic on the same levels as a christmas story.

There's something weird about Emily's death. Lord Barkis said he was bethroded years ago but it takes at least two years for a corpse to become a skeleton, so it means she's not dead since a long time
