Is Darwin from Gumball Definitely EVIL? | Channel Frederator 

You know, going from asking a simple question like "Is Darwin Evil" to talking about thought experiments where babies are falling down wells seems oddly fitting for a show like Gumball Do you think Darwin (or people) might be inherently evil? And who in the Amazing World of Gumball do you think is the most good or the most evil? (Outside of Darwin and Mrs. Robinson, of course) Hope you all enjoyed this week's episode!

You already answered the question. Darwin isn't evil. He just has moments where he lets his unhappy emotions get the better of him and that doesn't happen very often for him. Plus he's still kid and kids sometimes mess up.

Honestly, all three of the Watterson kids seem to be their own brands of good and evil. Gumball seems to embody the concept of Ethical Hedonism. Most of his good deeds or evil acts are derived from either feeling good about himself or from having a negative mindset and the need to take it out on someone. While he does try to help sometimes, more often than not he causes just as much trouble in his desire to alleviate boredom that he solves. It doesn't help matters that his ego, which is shown to be the largest of his emotions in "The One", is the driving force behind a lot of his behavior. One of the prime examples being "The Others", where he inserts himself into Clair's story and forces it to have a happy ending just so he could be the center of attention again. Anais seems to embody the concept of Moral Intelligence. While she is the smartest of the Watterson family, and has been shown to have that knowledge since she was a newborn baby, said intelligence was often offset by a lack of proper morals due to whatever age she was at. Back in "The Rival", her inability to grasp that Nicole and Richard could love both her brothers and a newborn daughter led to her trying to get Gumball and Darwin in trouble so she could have her parents love for herself, and episodes like "The Parasite" and "The Guy" show is so socially awkward in her endeavors to make friends, she end ups acting less rational in the process and doing less than savory things. Its at this point its important to remember that despite her intellect, she is still only four, and because she has yet to completely develop her moral conscience, she ends up doing many things that could be considered evil without meaning too. As for Darwin, Darwin seems to embody the idea of Moral Hypocrisy. He's perfectly content preaching his morality in the case of others, but when he himself is the target or is given the option to retaliate, he does the exact opposite of what he preaches. "The Wicked" already demonstrated his behavior upon considering Mrs. Robinson pure evil, but before that with "The Banana" he was content with Gumball turning the other cheek over Banana Joe allegedly chewing his pen, only to lose it after Joe accidentally wrecks his desk and homework. His actions in "The Sidekick" don't help matters, as while he hates how Gumball treats him like a sidekick and refuses to go along with stealing their game back from Tobias, when he's put in charge he resorts to kidnapping Tobias' mom and starts treating Gumball the same way he perceived Gumball treated him. So, one does things out of self interest, another out of lack of a complete moral conscience, the last out of not practicing what they preach.

People are often surprised when kind people get mad. It's because they can see over more things then the usual. This causes people to think that they just can't get mad because i's not in their nature but it's inside any human being.

I personally love Darwin, because he’s not necessary a bad person but he’s also not so good it’s unbelievable. While Gumball and Anais are mostly in the middle ground, Darwin is either adorably good or scarily evil in every instances. He also seems to be a lot more of a follower too despite not necessary wanting to, acting as a moral compass for gumball. But when he had the chance to lead, he more often than not break his own moral code.

Darwin is in an environment where he getting the love he needs which makes him a loving little gold fish. The thing about loving people is that when they decide that they don't love anymore... well they get dark then. But for reals, no. Darwin is not evil. Hes passionate. I would also like to point out that Darwin was bought from The Awesome Store, or the red van that has sold many cursed and magical objects, such as the fertilizer that turned Leslie into an enemy as well as the phone that possessed Penny in The Console, and the notebook in The Shippening. Both objects as well as presumably Darwin have had negative effects on the citizens of Elmore.

Fun fact: Darwin was originally a character designed for a show about mythical creatures hidden in a kid's backyard. Even though that show didn't get picked up, Ben Bocquelet loved his design and keeps it for Gumball.

I don't believe Darwin is evil, however he is very shady, as seen in "the words" gumball just teaches him to be a bit more serious, but instead he becomes a egotistical brat, he shows this trait in way more episodes than just "the words" but I don't want to make a 10 hour long comment, so Darwin is well meaning, and unfortunately follows the bad examples his older brother Gumball gives him to make things worse.

I made my own thoughts on the nature of good and evil from observing ravens. Essentially Ravens find their own kin to be morally good and often welcome one another with open wings. Unless a particular Raven was malevolent and known to steal food from other Ravens. In which case the flock would attack and scold them. This type of behavior was not exclusive to their own kind, ravens will scold and attack other animals that have a negitive impact on the flock as a whole. They will also befriend other animals that have a positive impact and will often visit or roost near them, somtimes offering gifts and protections. This means that what is good is partly based on preservation of ones self but also as a species and any individuals and species that make living a little easier. It is also interesting to note that ravens will not cause damage or theft to people that care for them and feed them, but will go out of their way to steal and damage properties of those that attack or act aggressive to them. This is more than mere survival instincts but shows a system of supporting "good" and harassing "evil".
