@@MrBizteck It's absolutely possible, even without a lot of tactical voting. Would require quite a bit of Reform vote and a surge in Labour votes, but his seat is by no means safe with this level of polling.

This is a terrible idea that would disproportionately affect smaller parties. The Tories and Labour would just help their candidate buy a home there and continue to parachute. And smaller parties would not be able to get their talented politicians elected because of the geographical distribution of their vote. Again, the problem here is our FPTP voting system.

@@bringblink182 Well to put it simply, they're not. The problem is that the electoral system was designed for a different time. MPs are there for **NATIONAL** issues not local ones. If you want something done in your constituency you've really got to vote in local elections - it's councils who are responsible for that not national government. And national government need to be able to have capable leaders. Leaving it to a postcode lottery as to who is electable is nonsense. What if Winston Churchill had happened to live in a Labour or Liberal safe seat? We just miss out on a capable war time leader because of a geography lottery? As I said, the electoral system isn't designed for a 21st century country. And as I said, what you're suggesting wouldn't even stop parachuting candidates, it would just mean only rich parties could do it. And smaller parties would be marginalised even more.

@@Red1Green2Blue3 Not quite the same thing, Ross gave up the seat he thought he’d lose and is now standing in a seat that already had a sitting MP. The Tories have used the fact that that person is recovering from spinal surgery to sideline them in favour of Ross because they think it’s a safer seat. Farage was probably always going to be the Reform UK candidate for Clacton, it’s symbolic because it’s the only Parliamentary seat his party (when it was UKIP) ever held. Hopefully Ross sidelining someone who was already the MP will backfire, and I doubt Farage can win, he’ll probably just split the Tory vote and hand the seat to Labour.

@@Red1Green2Blue3 It’s not mate, the two seats we’re talking about are Tory safe seats (if there is still such a thing), Clacton is (or was) also a Tory safe seat. Reform UK don’t have any safe seats because they don’t have any MPs.

Nah sorry I can't let that stand. One party has increased child poverty by millions the other as bad as they are will see those kids fed and that is just one example. Apathy and disengagement are dangerous weapons politicians use and your helping them.
