To answer your question succinctly: " Oh god no!!" Diamond Dogs alone, is far superior to everything out there, with the vocal range on "Sweet Thing" being just mind blowing! So I would disagree completely regarding your appraisal of his vocals . Even other legendary vocalists such as Peter Murphy modeled there syle after him. I can't think of anyone really (maybe Grace Slick?) who even comes close. Certainly far superior to Mercury or even Plant, who granted is quite good. You mentioned "voice cracks all over the place" Ive listed to pretty much everything he's done and never heard one. Not even in a live show. Could you please point me to said voice cracks?? As far as albums, The Berlin trilogy is legend. Station to station is off the hook. And we haven't even touched on Ziggy Stardust AladinSane or the godlike album "The Idiot" which he did with Iggy. I could go on and on but, no. He's about as far from overrated as you can get. You want overrated? Try Drake or Taylor Swift. 7:10
Bro😂 It's called “an opinion” i've enjoyed his music for YEARS, so im more than able to give my opinion on it! But i can tell you something else that’s overrated, silly internet users that comment without watching the video🙂↔️
Totally agree with that, I think Let's Dance and many albums that came after that was a huge nosedive in quality that didn't recover until he made Heathen in 2002. It's really such a shame since I think everything he was involved with in 76-80 was the greatest album streak in rock music
Bowie is my favorite artist ever but unfortunately there was a huge drop off in quality after Scary Monsters in 1980, still an incredible artist with several classic albums
I believe that there's a drop off in quality only throughout the '80s. Since "1.Outside" in 1995 he fully regained his artistic and creative vision and until his death he produced some amazing albums like "Earthling", "Heathen", "The Next Day" and "Blackstar". "Low" is still the best however 😊
@@danbal4185 For some reason I could never get into Outside and tried really hard to like it, I respect that he was experimenting again and got with Eno to make something unique. But yeah I agree it got a lot better with the last batch of albums, his 2000s albums are all really solid and I'd rank Blackstar among his best
Think what dude😂 Its a question!!! Is David Bowie overrated? The answer can be YES or NO! If you’d take the time to watch even a minute of the video you'd see that i did nothing but praise him for 11 minutes😂 Silly silly comment
great montage: The Beatles! (such nice young men!) Psychedelic Flower Hippies! (a little loopy, but harmless) A bisexual alien rock star!(record scratch)
@@JoeLaRocca Thing is, I don’t think it’s Clickbait, if the title was “David Bowie IS overrated” then ok i get it. But the title is literally a question! Yes or no question!
I don't think He Ever Really was Overrated but i do wish i got to see him live but never did before he passed away so i still say May he Rest in peace.
Yes. Honky Dory was good and Ziggy was great. What else was great? Only a couple of great songs per album for each album after that IMO. Not meaning PC culture, of course, but I don't think diversification is necessarily good. I don't like his Fame stuff either. Not just his androgynous groundbreaking way, he just wasn't a Smokey Robinson, John Lennon, Paul Westerberg of The Replacements, Jeff Tweedy of the Wilco. He's really only a Richard Butler of the Psychedelic Furs. OK, I'm being a little tough on Bowie. I see you delve into other avenues but obviously you like his songs more than me. Sound and Visions, Heroes, Panic in Detroit are all great songs to me but I looked around and there were not many other good songs on those albums. In conclusion, you are a smart lad, but a Lad insane.
He definitely was a talented entertainer but musically he was absolutely overrated. All of his music was recycled from other artists, as you mention the use of mellotron was first introduced by the Beatles and heavily used by prog rock bands before him. Peter Gabriel was probably the first to develop theatrical characters on stage which included him dressing like a woman with a fox mask. But I guess that's how art works, taking ideas from others and adding a little something.
@@riskromer9773 actually its the musical aspect that i love so much! I guess its hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but there’s this theatrics to his music that I personally find really entertaining.
I don’t like his lyrics, too pretentious, his singing does suck as well, I don’t like his songs, they go off on a tangent and I actually find them quite annoying. Even the songs I like, I always feel some sort of annoyance towards him, I’ve really tried to get into him and I was obsessed at one point, but yeah I just… can’t put my finger on it, he just annoys me, a bit like how Paul McCartney annoys me also lol but I do like on mars…. But the lyrics are absolute dog shite and anyone could of thrown them together
